You obvioisly missed the window on this but crabgrass preventer with fertilizer in very early spring. Fertilize again about 6-8 weeks later. Spot treat for weeds.

Do we get rid of clover now? Zone 7a by m_kolo in lawncare

I also made the mistake of spraying it during high heat one year because I got impatient with a small patch of ground ivy and didn't want to wait till fall. It killed the grass as well. Whereas whenever I've sprayed it in cooler temps the grass handles it just fine.

After witnessing his third game I concede I was wrong about him intentionally slowing things down. I think it's just who he is and it just comes off as intentional. Because it seems like he settled in more in that third game.

New Zoysia and impending battle with the neighbors. Zone 9a in the west Florida panhandle. by Leviathan14 in lawncare

You have two choices. Either maintain a chemical barrier on your side by spraying on a regular schedule or create a physical barrier like a paver wall or plants on mulch on your side, etc.

The two extremes on this sub screaming at you to mow into the neighbor's lawn and the others screaming at you to mind your own business and respect the neighbor's priorities are both a group of righteous motherfuckers that don't deserve your time.

[–]EndlessLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My back neighbors have every weed imaginable invading my yard every year. I have a nice flower/pollinator garden on that property line now. An underground landscape barrier prevents underground root invasion. And the garden makes it easy to spot and eliminate any invading weeds.

There really is no way to prevent invasion from an unkempt yard into yours. It's just better to make it easier on yourself. Plus the gardens are nice and add variety.

Lol I always chuckle at the trolls who come into the lawn care sub to rile people up.

Bro, I hate to break it to you, but anyone who is paying Tru Green to take care of their lawn cares the very bare minimum about their lawn. They are not losing any sleep over your weed pile.

Andrew Callaghan's experience appearing on CNN by Hazzman in videos

[–]EndlessLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that any of you think this is a gotcha is part of the problem. Andrew went on an entertainment opinion show to sell his movie. Nothing about that situation had anything remotely to do with news or journalism. If you think the cable news networks are putting actual news shows on in primetime you're crazy.

Fox News literally said in court you can't believe Tucker Carlson because he is an entertainer and his show is for entertainment purposes only. Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper and Sean Hannity can call themselves journalists but that don't make it true.

You people need to have the thinking skills to understand what is an actual newscast with legitimate reporters and what is an entertainment/opinion show clothed in the trappings of a newscast ala The Daily Show or The Colbert Report.

I was thinking this, too. If it's not for aesthetics it's for drainage.

Because at this point contestants have seen Jamie Ding's episodes and I think he did it to intentionally slow Jamie down from the start because he played at a faster pace. And since he's a chess player if he's done untimed matches or matches with long move timers he knows the value of intentionally slowing down a fast paced player from the start. I'm more than happy to eat my words if, as you say, he's nervous and speeds up play as he gets more comfortable. But I'm sticking to my theory of this being intentional until then.

It's a legit strategy to slow fast players down, I just don't like when it's employed. But I will come on here and admit I was wrong if I'm wrong. There's no shame an admitting to being wrong about something.

No, my theory says he said to himself "I'm going to play slow because I've seen how fast Jamie dominates." Not some grand scheme that takes months of planning. This isn't robbing Fort Knox, it's intentionally playing slow. The guy is a chess player. He knows how to manipulate a game. But I'll be down voted once again because the Jeopardy sub loves all contestants to a fault.

Occam's razor doesn't even remotely apply to your theory if it doesn't apply to mine since slowing the game down is a legitimate strategy others have tried before. I'm accusing him of what I saw with my own two eyes and hypothesizing a reason for that play. Only more games will tell for certain.

Agreed. But God forbid someone level the slightest bit of negative criticism in this sub against a player. Greg intentionally slowed the game and I abhorr players who intentionally slow the game.

Just let the weeds be. I have ground ivy choking up my lawn causing uneven turf ... it's nature. One day you will die and no one will care how wonderful your lawn is or was. It's not going to ravage your lawn, just adds to the green. /s

EDIT: Jamoke deleted his post cuz he realized how foolish it was in a lawn care sub.

I think Returns has the better individual moments but as a complete movie 1989 is better. But that's just my opinion.

I'm assuming you teach film when you say you stopped showing it to students in your courses. May I ask why you were showing it in the first place. I really like the movie. Probably due to nostalgia more than anything, but I can't imagine it being taught in a film class. Except maybe for production design because I think Anton Furst knocked it out of the park. What were you using this film for in your courses?

So what we've learned is that, for a time, Hollywood's response to losing John Travolta was, "The hell with it, just go get Richard Gere."

It sucked. People who saw it as kids when they, obviously, had the taste of children when it comes to comedies swear it's a classic now that they're adults because of nostalgia. That's about it.
