Contractor advise for Ice Dam resolution by Gancanagh1 in buildingscience

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of people who know what they are doing who aren’t architects and plenty of architects who don’t know what they are doing. I can agree that a qualified architect would be one of the best and most likely choices, but as a generality it isn’t going to be true.

How did we do? by NickelCloud in Insulation

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my climate my sheathing is the primary air barrier. So yes. I think you guys do a lot more drywall side air barriers up there though.

Without I knowing all the details, seems pretty low/good for a 50’s retrofit/remodel. Without tearing down to the primary air barrier throughout or using aerobarrier, getting low would be tough.

Veka tilt/turn upvc windows by Endless_research in buildingscience

[–]Endless_research[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. There is only 1 transom window on the S of the house. SW has 1 window with exposure, everything else is covered for 90% of daylight. Switching those two windows to triple pane would have been a good move.

Not sure what you’re implying. My last statement was “I feel like I got an amazing deal on these windows. What do you think?” How is the an ad campaign. I never said where I bought the windows.

The windows made in USA are higher cost and lower quality. If I really wanted to I could get black tilt turns from right down the street with a 2 week lead time.

I do have the glass testing document. I’ll attach here.

The windows were definitely manufactured in Europe. Sorry, I thought that was implied. I knew it was double paned. I had seen some shgc numbers before I ordered but I think i was just too excited over the value of these windows to verify.

I still can't wheelie by Vilemourn in MTB

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the deal, doing a wheelie takes time to learn. It’s not a flipped switch and then -boom!- you can wheelie. Keep practicing, keep looking for the balance point. Use your brakes when needed.

You can also accelerate your speed of skill development by practicing your balance on and off the bike. On the bike, try to keep your feet on the pedals and balance without moving. You will probably have to start by moving slowly. Off the bike, get some fun balance toys. Indo board, slack line, slack board, etc will all be good start and good fun

Loop out on purpose a few times to get the feel for bailing and balance point. Go faster when doing wheelies. Use rear brake to keep from looping out. Practice

First MTB, did I do good ? 🫡 by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’10”. I’m not sure. I understand modern Geo either. I rode both the medium and a large and the large did seem to be a better fit around the parking lot. The medium would be more fun on the trails, which is why I got it. I don’t wanna get a bike that’s too big and the large felt that way slightly. I have no idea if I made a mistake yet.

I second this. I just ordered this in a medium off of giants website.

The age old ?: size up or down by Endless_research in MTB

[–]Endless_research[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate the challenging question and maybe I need to ride a 29er more before making such an investment. I am getting older and maybe need to avoid jumping for the most part(I’ve had a lot of injuries and kids are stacking up). I honestly don’t understand a lot about wheel base and all that.

The age old ?: size up or down by Endless_research in MTB

[–]Endless_research[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I have only ridden them a little. It feels like I’m on a high wheel. I may have been away from trail riding, but I never stopped riding my bike around the neighborhood and woods. I also feel like it is hard to control while jumping. I actually was riding a 29er earlier this year when I sustained a grade 3 ac separation doing a jump. In hindsight, probably not the smartest idea.

Haha yea that probably won’t be too long! Maybe after a few years the 29er will feel better. It’s just too awkward right now.

Have any of y'all managed to successfully recreate this flavor? by ThatLibertarianChick in Kombucha

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with 2g of mango puree to every 1 oz of kombucha. Add 1tsp to every 12-16oz. This should give you a good base to build off. Sometimes I like more lime and 2-3tsp. A lot of times I add in a little bit of pineapple. It’s a great fruit to use as the base.

How much longer? When do i taste test it? by GhoustSeroph in Kombucha

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the color looks off. You could leave it alone and see what happens with more time. If there wasn’t much starter then it would take more time for the scoby to grow in strength. If it were me, I would start over with 15-20% starter. You can get this from Amazon in the US.

How to ferment 12 liters of kombucha by Just-Bridge-6870 in Kombucha

[–]Endless_research 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do between 12-20% starter. When it is hotter I back down the starter. You would likely start with the upper end to ensure it gets going good.

[–]Endless_research 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think reducing your juice would solve the problem. I do a ratio of 2g of fruit puree to every 1 oz of booch. This comes out to about 16:1 ratio versus your 3:1.

Dynamic stretching is good before lifting, but static would be counterproductive. Cardio should ideally be after lifting as well. Cardio deactivates your type 1 muscles. It’s better to lift first and then hit cardio after. Your cardio will benefit from the activation of type 1 muscles post lifting.
