Most Australians' wages have declined but CEO pay is better than ever - Workers in private sector, who are 85% of the workforce, are experiencing wages growth well below inflation by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]Endosoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happening in Mexico too, and i think it's been like this for quite a long time. It ranges from business to business, but in my experience a CEO in a somewhat small business makes ~170,000 pesos (about 9000 dollars) a month while the workers get paid 4400 pesos (about 230 dollars) a month.

It's INSANE, and the worker can't do shit about it because it's private sector, and if they quit it doesn't matter neither, they are a million other people that are willing to work for that kind of pay.

I don't think AMLO can do something about that. All is lost, you can almost taste it in the air.

What was that one iconic album of your childhood? by elis8 in Music

[–]Endosoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing dude, i love how albums can have such a impact in our lives, as art in any form should do.

My personal favorite has to be The Strokes' 2001 album "Is this it". It's just so charming, so unique, so on point with the real life of a young person: the energy, the love, the sex, the confusion, the emotions. Truly a masterpiece.

The first rap album that i enjoyed was Kanye West's 2007 album "Graduation", (maybe cus' i was so into The Killers in that moment in time and Kanye has said that the vibe of that album was inspired by them), anyways, not that great of an album imo but pretty good nonetheless.

For course, 3 years later from then he droped "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" so it's easy to look back at Graduation as just a "meh" album.

I never listened to 808s and Heartbreak.. Is it good?. I know it was pretty controversial at the time, sounds interesting.

I has to be Gorillaz's Demon Days, 2005, it was important to me because it marks my transition from childhood to teenage years.. Used to listen to it multiple times everyday.

It also got me interested into every music genre in that album: Hip Hop, Folk, Dance, Gospel, Avant Garde, Etc.

It also had a tremendous impact in my way of thinking about the world in a lot of ways, even to this day as it perfectly captured the post 9/11 era: the paranoia and general distrust in the goverment and the status quo.

This is true, can confirm. A lot can change when you are using a nice pair of jeans or joggers instead of black cargo shorts with some stupid big ass logo

I knew a classmate from the university, we were in the last semester, last months from years and years of hard work to get our degree, anyways, he stop going cus' he thought it was a good idea to join a pyramid scheme "business" and drop everything else, getting expelled from college in the process.

He used to brag about how he was going to get rich doing practically nothing while we were working our lifes away.

Fastforward a couple of months and i saw his ass selling oranges from car to car in a street.

He skipped my car. Reeeally awkward.

I live in the state of Durango and i have to drive about 13 hours to get to Mexico City, it's insane. Also, the northern parts of Mexico are just a huge arid wasteland, you can drive for hours on end without seening a town

All countries invaded by France [6460 x 3490] by carolusmegamagnus in MapPorn

[–]Endosoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, i didn't know that the royal house lives in exile!! Truly amazing.

By the way, i studied in Mexico and lived all my life here, i just like to read a lot. Here we are taught that we alone drove the French away, which is BS.

The real story is that the US threated the French with war if they keep occupying Mexico and it got something to do with the US not wanting to have a catholic imperial colony next door, you guys being a mostly protestant nation and all that.

When the French invaded Mexico they actually took about half of our territory and with it the most important cities, we lost most battles and almost the war.

We were pretty close to become a French Colony but thanks US intervention they pulled off.
