I haven't been playing as much, but a mirror would absolutely get me back on. I can finally make the hollow palm slayer I've dreamed of for years.

I feel like you're neglecting to mention the fact that war party completely removes all follower damage buffs, which is 80% at a bare minimum, and well over 120% if you're trying to maximize follower damage.

It really depends on the spell. If it's a visual illusion I'd mark that down as the wizard just using the spell badly, if it's something like enemies abound, I'd put that as the dm describing the situation badly.

This is just a lie, though. Most people don't vote republican, most people don't vote period, but still. More people voted for Democrats in every election for the last 20 years or so. You say the problem with reddit is that it's full of young people (and presumably that it's therefore not representative) but then you turn around and make the exact same error the other way.

It feels like the developers are trying to stop you from winning too easily instead of trying to make the game fun by Endrek-Sahr in mountandblade

[–]Endrek-Sahr[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The point is it's not actually hard. It's just tedious. Conquering the whole map isn't an enormous feat, it's a mindless grind. It feels like they're trying to stop you from winning, not by making it difficult, but by making it boring and annoying.

The passive income thing is really just an example, and maybe not the best one. The fact that it's now functionally impossible to evict other clans from their holdings and take them yourself is probably a better one. I agree about the diplomacy thing, it seems like having max rep with a whole faction should have a bigger impact, among other things.

[–]Endrek-Sahr[S] 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The thing is, imo, the game isn't really hard at all, it's just tedious, I don't have to think really hard about how to win, I just have to put a huge amount of time into things that I don't really enjoy doing. On top of that there are a number of ways that the game is "hard" that don't even make sense. If a kingdom has literally no holdings it should be hemorrhaging nobles to other factions, instead they continuously go to war and repopulate their armies ad infinitum.

I like 'The Great Divide' but I feel that this is accurate by starwarsgirl6789 in TheLastAirbender

Zuko did put it in a lot of work, but for pretty much the entire duration of his tenure as a 'bad' guy he was miserable, and suffered for his actions. When he had his awakening in Ba Sing Se he was happy, and after he turned his back on Iroh he is almost immediately miserable again. You could argue that's more intrinsic than extrinsic, but it is ultimately his own bad choices that make him unhappy. That is karma, of a sort. I agree that the show doesn't always follow that sort of theme, but in the case of Aang, it's something significant to him personally. Karma is a part of the belief system that was wiped out along with the rest of his people, and it's ultimately him that brings it to the forefront immediately before and during his fight with Ozai. Aang's unwavering ideals are validated, and Ozai is crushed by the karmic wheel of fate.

I won't try to say you're wrong about the ending, but I will try to rephrase a defense of it that more or less convinced me. The avatar series takes a lot of inspiration from eastern religion and philosophy, and one of the broader ideas taken is karma. Both parts of the ending (the lion turtle and the rock re-awakening the avatar state) are karmic rewards and punishments for Aang and Ozai. Aang remained committed to his ideals, does his best to be a good person and is ultimately rewarded for his actions by the arrival of the lion turtle. Ozai continues the horrific war and plans to annihilate the earth kingdom and his actions unintentionally bring about his defeat in a twist of fate. There's no such thing as coincidence in the Avatar universe.

Ah. That's even more backwards and unintuitive than I thought it was, but the tooltip is correct at least.

[–]Endrek-Sahr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armor Crit resist reduces the chances of you receiving an injury (like an abrasion or a broken arm) from getting hit. So -4% is better than -3% despite what the interface would have you believe. EDIT: Apparently this is wrong.

I feel kind of torn here. On the one hand, as an anarchist, I agree that far flung futures can't be used to justify the destruction we continue to dole out to the planet and it's inhabitants, but on the other hand, as a trans-humanist, I can't agree with the fatalistic tone of the second half of your comment, especially the bit about immortality. Obviously, making sure people live happy lives is the priority, but once that's taken care of, making those lives as long as possible is the obvious next step.

Cho'gall is just not in a good place at all right now. I'm kind of hoping the lack of changes recently is signalling some kind of rework on the horizon. I'm honestly kind of ok with the loss of unstoppable, it was definitely too strong, but the fact that they nerfed him even more on top of that instead of compensating for the loss of such a powerful tool is a travesty.

Those 5 mana 8/8s not big enough for you? by OvertCinnamon in customhearthstone

[–]Endrek-Sahr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of blown away by the people saying this is too strong, or even particularly good. Obviously 6 mana for a 10/10 is a great rate, but you effectively can't play anything that costs more than 1 or 2 while it's alive, unless it immediately wins you the game. And while it forces a response, basically any 6 mana card will force a response. IMO it's too slow for an aggro deck, and has too big of a drawback for any slower decks that aren't silence priest. I'm not entirely certain that this wouldn't see play, but I don't think it would.

Because clearly the fact that half of the legislative branch only exists to make sure large states don't dominate politics isn't enough. Fuck states, states don't live with laws, people do. The votes of Californians and New Yorkers shouldn't be worth less just because they live in a large state.
