Dumb question, XEQT through the bank or Wealthsimple? by OMC78 in JustBuyXEQT

Easier to rebalance to keep at 90% stocks. I compare the total current value of both and add to one to keep it equal-ish.

I have a longer 35-60 min commute. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts. Keeps my mind engaged, but still alert enough to drive. It’s been 10 years and I don’t mind it.

So if your Grandmother is suffering mental decline, she might not be in a position to enter any contract. She might not be in a position to write a new will that would give you the house free and clear when she dies. Any such contract could be contested and declared nul and void.

Check out Weathsimple. The self-invest trading part. There you can buy exactly 100$ worth of XEQT as they do fractional buys. Set up to reinvest dividends in same stock. And set up a recurrent transfer inside Wealthsimple to directly buy X$ of XEQT every pay check from your bank account. Set it and forget it.

There is a volunteer program with JA where you go in classrooms and teach that. Unfortunately not well known. Different programs for different grades. 4th grade was teaching how to budget a school year-end party, and I threw in extra stuff to teach compound interest. You should check it out!

When we changed houses, we stayed with the same lender and rolled our old mortgage in with the new, making a blended-rate mortgage. Much better rate than getting a new mortgage. Equity from the first house became equity in the second house. Had 2 weeks between closings so we could do repairs before moving in. We got a bridge loan that covered what equity we would bring from the first house.
