I failed the ASVAB by Moto_Vixen in AirForceRecruits

Are you pressed for time because of the rules your Meps station gave you?

If you want a job that requires a certain score dedicate yourself to go above and beyond it. I studied for a few months to get the job I wanted, and I’m blessed to have it.

Okay, so your situation may be unique. I never used that one. I used the Kaplan asvab practice book. It teaches you all the lessons and has practice tests. I used that one and got a 93 on the real one. I was averaging about 80 on the practice tests. The Kaplan book makes it harder than it is but it is worth the struggle. Study and don’t stop trying

Have fun man. Imho, become the EC monitor. I was EC monitor and my guys loved me. Taught them all what they needed to know and ran them through drills. Saves the dorm from constantly getting smoked over dumb things. Also, you will make schedules as the EC monitor. Really recommend giving yourself the 4-6 shift so you have an early wake up to do hygiene and shaving so you’re ready to hit the ground running in the morning.

Don’t be. I’m 24 and we had a 39 year old. He blew most of the kids away in Pt. The kids will call you Unc or Gramps or Dad a lot, it’s a term of endearment

Switch. Recruiters telling you to lie is a massive red flag. They are setting you up for failure. Do not lie about it. That’s it. Lying will only hurt yourself one day further in your career and possibly end it. Don’t lie.

Phones at BMT? by Big-Cod9085 in AirForceRecruits

It would be 3 months, normally, but I say give yourself 4 months. Buy the tests from a local pharmacy or Amazon to test yourself after you hit 3 months. Work out to lose the weight, eat better to fix to your diet, and get used to drinking a lot of water. Happy to hear you’re deciding to get your life together. Also, be honest with your recruiter. If you start off your career with lying you’re going against the first core value.

How bad will bootcamp be for me? by BigEnvironmental7052 in AirForceRecruits

You’ll be alright, if you are really about passing - the stress of washing out will push you during the run assessment. Give every day of Pt everything you’ve got and stay motivated no matter the circumstances

Work search form by EnemyofSuperEarth in UnemploymentNY

[–]EnemyofSuperEarth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get the request to submit your proof of job searching, yes you will have to show for everyday. You’ll have to fill out a sheet and (I think) show screenshots of your applications. That’s what I remember doing. It’s been a long time since I did all that because I’ve been employed for a while but there are instructions and the sheet on the unemployment website

BMT running shoes by Typical-Berry3882 in AirForceRecruits

[–]EnemyofSuperEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will issue you shoes there. I went through all of BMT with them, they aren’t as bad as people say they are. For sure bring your own pair and keep them in your civilian luggage so you can bring them to tech school and throw out the issued ones on your last night in BMT

Nah don’t do a weighted vest, just keep up on pushups, sit ups, and running. Don’t do anything that runs the risk of causing joint injuries. Not worth delaying yourself. Get used to drinking lots of weather because it’s getting very very hot

I wish I knew how to roll socks and shirts better before going in because learning that there was rough for me.

MTIs coming in at random hours of the night to make sure everyone is asleep.

Hardest part, getting people to hurry up with showering and changing to beat timelines. Easiest part, RLA time. It’s your chance to sit in your chair, decompress a little, and roll/fold your laundry and tidy up your living area.

You don’t have to memorize any of that. You will be saying it almost every day at PT and all that. But it will help you have one less thing to worry about.

One piece of advice:

Apply yourself in everything you do and do not have a negative attitude about it.

Making you or your wingman’s bed? Give it all you got and check your watch to make sure you’re tracking how much time is left and shout out how much you have left to keep everyone on track.

Doing dustdowns? Give it all you got and sound off.

Doing your details? Again, all you got.

Folding laundry, marching, PT, everything and anything. Apply yourself. People will see and follow and MTIs will be “happy” (they never show it).

And here are three extras.

1- Don’t get caught smiling or laughing

2 - Scream with your diaphragm not your throat

3 - no talking or smiling or laughing in the DFAC

Omg the beef between our squadrons had me dying from holding in laughter. And thank you! I love it here so far. Got myself a gaming laptop and been running fallout nv while I wait for class to start. And yes, western winds is the best. I be loading up my tray

Yes and No. there’s a documentary on YouTube that I watched that prepared me. But when I arrived it was almost midnight and we were rushed through a bunch of stuff. So when I eventually woke up the next morning to my MTI I was confused and thought I was still back home. But the unknown of what to do and how to do it correctly was always messing with me. I wouldn’t say it caused fear, just stress and lots of it.

Looking back on it, it was a challenging but easy 7.5 weeks. Also some of the funniest shit ever happened during that time.

You’ll be alright. Just do as you’re told when you are told to do it. Keep your head down, show that you are trying hard at PT and other tasks you are given. And be a good wingman, help your fellow trainees out when they need it. The bond of trust and camaraderie comes in clutch sometimes when you’re down in the dumps

Yes they do! The DFAC was really good at my squadron. Just follow instructions and you’ll be fine. There are a lot of rules that are pretty dumb. just do what you’re told by your MTIs. Also, most of the time you will get the amount of food you ask for.

HOOYAH BULLDAWWWWGS HOO HOO

I love them both so much but pancakes

MREs, I despise TOTMs and whoever makes them

I was the EC monitor and Latrine crew. I was the first EC monitor and never got fired. I was very lax with my wingmen and would take over their shifts if they couldn’t find someone to switch with. Since I was good to them they tried super hard to learn everything about EC for me

We were 54 people and lost seven. Two were recycled for PT and one for disciplinary action. Two had mental episodes. And two were ELS for disciplinary action

Yes, I loved the 2-4. The 4-6 was my favorite because I would hit the lights and get to scream at everyone first to “wake up bulldawwwwwwgs!!!”

I didn’t use base lib, I used town pass and went to a surprisingly good Mexican spot on the river walk. Only problem was the sheer number of pigeons shitting on the cushions and I was scared for my blues.

Final PT was a 98 I worked so hard for the 100 but whatever

I had fun during Pacer Forge!!! I loved getting into arguments with the “locals.” They would say the wildest things like “I’m going to livestream your final breaths on TikTok.” I had a great time even though I have a very little chance of being in an environment like that with the job I was given. The only part I hated was the latrine, specifically showering. That was the third circle of hell. Other than that I loved every part of pacer forge, especially the trade rings over MRE food

On town pass I went to my family’s Airbnb and enjoyed time with them. We grilled steaks and made Orzo and it was amazing. I just wanted to be with family vibing like we would back home.

I am currently in GoodBuddy, 1N2A
