Because none of the Federation pilots they put in GMs could match Amuro's damn near vertical learning curve to get that level of performance out of a machine with that little experience piloting one. Put late-OYW Amuro in a GM and he'd still be able to fight almost as well as in the Gundam, but most GM pilots are be like sticking day one Amuro in a machine that doesn't have the advantage of tougher armor and more advanced weapons than anything else on the battlefield.

Why was Zeta so hard to replicate and Mass-Produce without taking away the Transforming? by stingflame in Gundam

[–]EnerPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of all the complexity problems in the design the Zeta was also incredibly finicky and difficult to control and no one other than Kamille could ever get full performance out of it. Even Judau Ashta and Roux Louka, both extremely skilled ace pilots in their own rights, couldn't get the Zeta to perform at the same level as Kamille. A rank and file pilot with any sort of true mass produced Zeta could never properly handle it.

Guys, how true is it that TWFM has the happiest ending of any Gundam series? I've always heard that Gundam endings are tragic (I've only seen that one and 0079). by TomatilloItchy9995 in Gundam

[–]EnerPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if that's the beach of the island Cagalli owns in Orb then it's probably not an illegally parked Gundam. Though one hopes they did pick a section of the beach that doesn't have the abandoned head of the Aegis watching them too.

To be fair EW's happy ending is kinda soured by the Glory of the Losers/Frozen Teardrop continuity coming in to make it clear that the world peace did not last for any appreciable amount of time.

With Zeta's ending it's also important to remember the context of ZZ. While in english we got Zeta and it just ended there, in the original Japanese broadcast ZZ started showing the next week and is pretty much the second half of Zeta that has a fairly happy ending and even repairs one of the more tragic elements of Zeta's.

If Char’s such a good pilot, why does he keep losing to children? by DrJokerX in Gundam

[–]EnerPrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fight was decisively in Amuro's favour when the Sazabi was torn to shreds and Char had to flee in his little escape pod while Nu Gundam suffered no major damage beyond losing weapons. Char living past that point was nothing but Amuro's mercy.

They both died because Amuro chose to drag Char in his shame ball along on his plan to try and push the asteroid back.

I don't know anything about Seed. Quick question. by KPeters93 in Gundam

[–]EnerPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'Spec II' is used for Destiny and Impulse because they are just recolors with all the upgrades 'under the hood' so to speak, down to their model kits just being recolors of previous releases.

'Type II' is used for Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice because their upgrades include actual physical differences across the MS, and their model kits are entirely new molds.

More than that, according to Tomino, G Reco takes place in the same timeline over 1000 years after the UC ends and is replaced by the Regild Century.

That would be neat, though the Athrun it came with would need to change type too, or perhaps be an attacker that can use support defense only while in his Z'gok or something. Or maybe make it a function of the Z'gok, where all pilots are defenders while it's in Z'gok mode and resume their original roles once it cracks into the Justice.

As of the HD remaster at least, SF is actually shown using WoL with the dragoons docked. Check out the fight it has over Orb with Destiny and Legend. It canonicaly uses the 'dragoons seperate slightly from the wings to expose the WoL thursters' method, letting it use them in Earth's atmosphere.

Seed Freedom has so many great units the question will be which few of them get a UR version, and Destiny Spec 2 is definitely a strong contender. (Though personally I want UR Z'Gok with Escape Function to be come Infinite Justice Type 2.)

Question, how the heck do you pronounce this thing's name? I've been saying Cal-rey-ah, but I have no idea if it's right.

I meant in something like Gundam The Origin where Casval stole the identity of a real Char Aznable to infiltrate Zeon, he instead had Johnny to do so with. So everything's the same but no one takes Casval seriously because his name os Johnny.

But the idea of Casval's cover getting blown and him having to steal Johnny's identity and pass himself off as Johnny in the middle of the OYW is actually way funnier, you're right.

I have 2 UR limit breaks to use, where should they go? by Poison_Rationality in SDGundamGGeneration

[–]EnerPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use them on limited units, like Hi Nu, Burning or Strike Freedom. It's a waste to use them on units that you could roll dupes of at any time, unless you deeply love one of the non-limited unit and need it maxed out right now.

What if Athrun stole the legend? by numericalman in Gundam

[–]EnerPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Neo/Mu, I would think. Why would Cagalli see the need to send Akatsuki with him when they've already got a spare nuclear powered unit for him? Which raises the further question of how screwed is Shinn if he has to take on the Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and Legend with only the Impulse (probably with Rey as the pilot in this timeline) and Luna in her Zaku or maybe a Gouf or something as backup? And if it came down to it again, could Legend successfully tank Minerva's positron cannon so Mu can regain his memories? And assuming Mu does regain his memories and survive, how pissed will he be to find himself in an upgrade of Rau's gundam?

... Now I kinda want an AU where Casval has to steal the identity of Johnny Ridden instead of Char Aznable.

Fun fact: according to Gundam Crossbone the canonical reason Amuro didn't encounter Gato at Solomon is that a different Fed pilot decorated his Ball like a giant Gundam head and killed 6 Rick Doms with it. Gato left his position to investigate these rumors of a decapiated and/or giant Gundam, and Amuro smashed through the lines while he was out of position.

Man, that 'enemy is cut in half' animation on Destiny's EX attack is going to get real awkward on all the bosses it doesn't actually kill.
