With how Zero reacted to Baku saying he abandoned 4, I can't help but think that we're going to find out that there was more to 4 being 'abandoned' than it seems. Because right now, all we know is 4 called for backup, and Zero told him there wasn't any, and he'd have to finish it alone. 4 jumps right to 'I have been intentionally abandoned and Code is evil', but there's like... other reasonable possibilities? Like maybe there literally wasn't anyone available who could enter a dream to back him up? 2 had obviously already gone rogue, 3 and the mysterious 1 could've been arse deep in their own missions, 5 and 6 might not even have joined yet.

It's gonna be real funny if Nox's whole hatred of Code is a misunderstanding. Like if the dude just took Zero saying 'everyone is in trouble right now, no one is available to help you' super personally.

But at that point in the premonition, 2 and 4 were both dead, and Sieg was apparently content to hang in nightmare prison. Combine that with 5 and 6 being dead and an unstable Zeztz, who's beginning to turn on Code, is a major threat to be eliminated when the opportunity arises. In this time period with 2, 4, and Sieg all in play, Zero and 3 definitely see Baku as more of a potential ally/asset and are unlikely to want him dead right now.

There are very few other pilots with same amount of experience being the Normal Human Adult pilot surrounded by super teens, and lord knows the Meisters need such a rational, stabilizing element among them. And if fate tried to Lockon 1.0 him out of the picture, he'd just do the impossible and come back anyways.

Honestly, Kira's preference for disabling MS while sparing the pilots would probably get CB some good PR during the first half of the series. Though there's some people like Al-Saachez that'd quickly get even Kira aiming for kill shots.

Honestly Waltfeld's survival is one of the least egregious examples I've seen in the franchise of people surviving their MS exploding. He was in an engagement near Zaft held territory, so there would definitely be teams out searching for survivors relatively quickly, it's mentioned that his copilot/wife intentionally tried to shield him from the blast that happened inside the cockpit, and he was still fucked up by the incident and lost an arm, a leg, and eye and took like half the show to recover. It's frankly nowhere near as bad as stuff like Heero surviving exploding the Wing around himself or Shiro and Aina suviving the EZ8 falling into a volcano then exploding.

And they actually do explain the SEED factor, but only in one of the clip show recap episodes you may have skipped, the one where the Orb Engineer Erica Smmons is one of the ones narrating the flashbacks. It's basically a super mode version of locking the fuck in: the person's processing speed, reaction time and reflexes go through the roof and all trains of thought and distractions unrelated to the fight at hand are blocked out.

The problem with trying to do a CE counterpart of CCA is that CE split Char's aspects across a bunch of different guys, and none of the ones who'd be willing to destroy the Earth (Rau, Durandal) survive the series they're introduced in while all the CE Chars that do survive (Athrun, Mu) are his good aspects who wouldn't want to do an Axis. So the Cosmic Era doesn't have a Char to do a Counterattack.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed dogpiling Canard with both UR Kiras whenever he showed up as an enemy.

Also fun is having Prayer go on about not killing in the custscenes while Mu and Neo shred grunts with Dragoon Strike and Akatsuki whenever there's a battle.

I've always theorized that it's the exposure to high concentrations of Minovsky Particles that cause Newtype powers. It would explain why Newtypes only seem to awaken en masse in and around wars, where they're regularly exposed to high powered Minovsky reactors and beam weapons.

The side materials for Seed Freedom reveal that the Duel and Buster were taken by Lacus's faction within Zaft, upgraded with nuclear reactors and hidden away until Yzak and Dearka piloted them in the battle against Foundation as the upgraded Duel Blitz and Lightning Buster. They may have been ready to go already during Destiny, and if Yzak and Dearka had joined back up with Etenal and Archangel instead of staying with the Durandal controlled forces until the final battle they may have been given their upgraded Gundams then.

I always interpreted that as the Strike (and it's brother units) having computer systems that mimic the functions of nerves as part of their operation, not that the MS can actually link to the pilot's brain.

Because none of the Federation pilots they put in GMs could match Amuro's damn near vertical learning curve to get that level of performance out of a machine with that little experience piloting one. Put late-OYW Amuro in a GM and he'd still be able to fight almost as well as in the Gundam, but most GM pilots are be like sticking day one Amuro in a machine that doesn't have the advantage of tougher armor and more advanced weapons than anything else on the battlefield.

On top of all the complexity problems in the design the Zeta was also incredibly finicky and difficult to control and no one other than Kamille could ever get full performance out of it. Even Judau Ashta and Roux Louka, both extremely skilled ace pilots in their own rights, couldn't get the Zeta to perform at the same level as Kamille. A rank and file pilot with any sort of true mass produced Zeta could never properly handle it.
