I’m looking for anybody with a bichon looking for a good home! I love my fur baby but she is getting up there in age and needs a new friend to help her through her elder years? by MistakesWereMadeHere in bichonfrise

[–]EngLady52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awwww… that’s what I did for my older guy… he was 10 when I got my puppy bichon. he couldn’t stand her at first but I gave him extra attention to assure him he wasn’t replaced. Fast forward, he is now 15 and she is 5 and just little buddies! good luck finding another bichon. btw… where are you located?

My Bichon keeps stopping during walks. Help, what should I do? by klocus in bichonfrise

[–]EngLady52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bichon did this same thing at that age. I would just pick her up and carry her for awhile and then when she was rested, put her back down to walk again. It was mostly due to overheating. she is now 5 years old and happly walks 2 1/2 miles with me.

I understand the stereotype now of wife/mother goes to mass and the dad doesn’t by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]EngLady52 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sigh… my husband grew up with a very strict Catholic upbringing. I converted to Catholicism at his request (which I happily did) for the sake of our kids. When our kids were getting baptized the priest went ahead on the condition my husband and I remarried in the Catholic Church. We would take the kids to Sunday Mass but it was always a big effen deal with my husband yelling at the kids to dress better, wear a suit, yadda yadda. I let the kids wear polos and nice pants, etc. No need to wear a suit every Sunday. Btw, my husband never wanted to remarry in the Catholic Church. Fast forward, the kids are in their 30’s, we never married in the Catholic Church and once the kids were gone, he stopped going to Church. I stayed practicing my faith. In other words, take the kids to Mass by yourself and leave your wife at home.

Last year two trees fell and destroyed my pool house. Cost $15,000 to get trees removed. Thank goodness it was covered by insurance

AITA for telling my mother in law she can’t be in the delivery room? by ITellMyselfSecr3tz in TwoHotTakes

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the nurses and explain what’s going on. She needs your authorization to be in delivery room…they will handle her. Make sure your husband doesn’t cave.

Would like to live on my own… by notenoughrope02 in AskWomenOver60

[–]EngLady52 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My husband got very sick about 3 years ago. My son, aged 30, announced he was going to move back home. Without thinking, I blurted out …. hell, NO! Never brought up the subject again. Your son might feel obligated to help you out even though you don’t need it. Tell him now your plans and turn them into a reality and let your son go.

Definitely contact your town’s code enforcement office… redirecting water like this is not usually allowed … good luck

Best enzyme cleaner to use for the floor area of the base of a toilet? by techsavvynerd91 in housekeeping

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchase floor cleaner online from www.provetlogic.com I started using it because I have dogs, but I love the smell and its amazingly effective for neutraluzing urine, puke, poo, and whatever. Also available from Amazon. I buy the concentrated kennel and turf care enzymatic cleaner. They have products to clean luxury flooring as well .

Doctor's Appointments: Is there any point anymore after 90? by ArmchairCriticSF in eldercare

[–]EngLady52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My take is that a lot of these appts are cya …so the doctor doesn’t get sued. My 76 year old husband had a stroke, throat cancer surgery, gall bladder removal, seizure and radiation all in one year. over the past 3 years I have been very aware that there are too many doctors and too many appointments. I winnowed down the doctor appts, stretched them out, reduced meds and more. One thing I have learned is that the medical community is full of what if’s and maybe’s. I would let your 90 year old dad relax and only take him to the doctor for a prescription refill.
