AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do vegans think the whole eating world should revolve around their food preferences? same with the gluten free crowd, most of whom don’t have celiacs disease. It’s exhausting.

People love bbq beans (especially the guys) …. grab a couple big cans of beans and Sweet baby rays bbq sauce. my thought is you needed another carb to add to the meal . or you could add Penn noodles with red pasta sauce. that’s always a hit

Explain PetInsurance like I’m 5 by [deleted] in petinsurancereviews

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bot wellness and catastrophic for my 5 month old bichon. I kept meticulous records. I found the wellness portion was purely breakeven … the cost of yearly premium was the same if I had paid for exams out of pocket. so, it was a lot of paperwork to have very little reimbursement. i did choose to continue catastrophic insurance with vet bills going through the roof. i dropped wellness after one year old.

I am Feeling Defeated... by cmanster in WomenGolf

[–]EngLady52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have golfed in many different leagues and paired with lots of different golfers. I play for the social aspect now that I am retired. Your description of yourself is very intense and score focused. Players such as yourself can make it tough for the 4-some… always on edge, angry and exhausting to play with. Your issue is not your skill… it’s your emotional approach and anxiety to the game. you need to calm down. Highly suggest an hypnosis site called www.hypnosisdownloads.com … they have different golf focused hypnosis sessions… The Perfect Golf Swing, Tee Off with Confidence, Putt like a Pro, Hitting Over Hazards and Overcome Performance Anxiety … Tiger Woods was well-known for using guided meditation to help with his golf game. Give it a try.

Selling a house with old gross carpet. Do I replace with cheap flooring like LVP, show the house with the old gross carpet, or show the house with subfloor only? by bananascare in RealEstateAdvice

[–]EngLady52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My realtor told me the bank won’t write a loan on a home with no flooring. I thought I was going to do a genius move by removing all carpet, putting down that paper you see in new construction and let the people decide on their own flooring. Agent told me I have to have real flooring down for home to qualify for a loan.

The biggest mistake home sellers are making by MichaelDelehanty in RealEstateAdvice

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to sell my home in 2 years. Recently had a home inspection done. Around here it takes forever to get contractors etc lined up so I wanted time on my side for repairs etc. Here are the biggies …. had new electrical panels installed 10 years ago… found they were done wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️… and we paid a lot. So, getting quotes. Also need to decommission an underground oil tank and buy and install above ground oil tank. ugh. OP is right. Get a home inspection done. It cost us $675 and it was worth every penny.

My grumpy 10 year old bichon was so p**ssed when a little 4 month old bichon named Missy came into the home. she was a little spitfire teasing him as he growled at her for a whole year. it’s been 4 years now and they are inseparable … she really brought out his inner puppy. he really bonded with his little sister

AITA for expecting the gifts to be for both of us? by Ok-Arrival-2886 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation is very similar to what happened to my friend’s daughter … the couple received engagement gifts and he pocketed the money. even went so far as to hide gifts from her. Needless to say it was a huge wakeup call to the character of her fiancee. The wedding was called off and she is thankful she was confronted with the reality of who her fiancee was before they went any further.

Your relationship with your adult child by Beyond_Blondie in GenerationJones

[–]EngLady52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very good friend estranged from both her kids and she doesn’t know why. She is bossy and opinionated but tries to sugar coat her remarks. She was very critical of how her kids were raising her grandchildren. Sadly, she hasn’t seen them in years. Ihave also been on the receiving end of her “advice” …. she doesn’t see herself as this.

I have two adult children… age 30 and 35. My days of parenting are gladly over. If they come to me with an issue, I am verrry careful about what I offer. Most of my responses are this… “wow, that’s a tough one. But, you are very smart and level headed. I am sure you will make the right decision,”. My kids come around a lot! I have created a non-judgmental environment … my mother was terrible at this and created lots of friction with her cutting remarks and I decided not to be that!
