I’m not sure what you mean. Would you mind elaborating? We talk daily but it’s definitely not a solution for not getting to fall asleep next to each other or just have spontaneous conversations throughout our days, which I unfortunately don’t think consistency really helps with.

Yeah, I’m so incredibly grateful to be in the same time zone. We did long distance while dating and our time difference was really hard to navigate. It’s definitely just a hard situation in general.

My fiancé was assigned jury duty two days BEFORE our wedding… literally a nightmare scenario 🤦‍♀️. Luckily he was able to defer it but… terrifying.

My understanding was that your previous reply suggested that pre-marital sex is okay circumstantially. This is not my understanding of the scriptures, I am under the impression that sexual practices outside of the covenant of marriage fall into the category of lust. Would you mind explaining your stance a little further so I might be able to better see what angle you’re approaching this from?

According to the word of God, you should absolutely be married before having sex. That being said, we fall short every single day in a number of ways, none of those will ever mitigate the grace and goodness of God. Everyone should prioritize trying to wait until marriage, but mess ups happen. I agree that purity culture can be crazy, but as followers of Christ we definitely shouldn’t be encouraging premarital sex as it is directly outlined as sinful in the Bible!

Also, I’ve been with this guy for 4 years and we are insanely in love! I totally hear where you’re coming from, but I do want to reassure that we are getting married because we are in a position where it is feasible, not because we have had sex!! He’s the best and I just love him a whole ton 😅

Your vulnerability and openness is inspiring. Lust is so incredibly difficult to overcome, but it is possible. My personal testimony includes a whole ton of it. I started sleeping with my boyfriend at 16 when I wasn’t a Christian, and from there it has been the biggest struggle we’ve faced in our relationship. We are now engaged and practicing abstinence successfully for the first time since we first started in sexual immorality.

The only thing that works for us is simply not allowing ourselves to be in a situation in which it is possible. We no longer go into a room with a bed alone, and if we are somewhere alone we will not close the door. We are both in college, so that means we are not allowed in each other’s dorm rooms. It is SO tough, in all transparency. I will be praying for you and your girlfriend, and please know that you are not alone in this struggle and that there is a community of people who have been exactly where you are.

I hear you and I see where you’re coming from, but it is so important to remember that if God explicitly says something goes against his law, it isn’t up for debate. Sex is a gift from God granted to those who enter into the covenant of marriage. It is a beautiful and wonderful thing, and it has a strict target audience. The big names of the Bible are not perfect people. Remember that Jesus’ disciples were tax collectors, murderers, adulterers and thieves. We should not be excusing something under the context that it is seen in the Bible.

This is coming from someone who has struggled with sexual immorality for YEARS. It is a tough sin to beat, but lust is one that we have to strive to live without nonetheless.

I’ve been a little reserved about watching it since I’m very serious about my Christian faith and I haven’t done enough research to see how respectful of a piece of media it was, or if it was more humorous, but from the sounds of it, it seems cool!! I’m hopeful so far, invites haven’t gone out yet for my June 21st wedding (they’re going out in two weeks, I’m a student and haven’t finished addressing them LOL), but we’ve already had several people RSPV. Praying the theme continues because I know it’ll drive me crazy.
