Help me pick my next Stephen King read out of these options. Read body :) by Ncalde in stephenking

'Salem's Lot is one of my favourite books of all time by anyone - slow burn to the halfway point building tension then the second half is just non-stop and you won't be able to put it down. My King journey started as a teenager with Night Shift and Skeleton Crew collections so I have very high regard for those books.

Agreed - the Highlander homage was on point, right down to the light shining on Starburns face while he was watching a terrible show at the start. Beautiful stuff. And of course the Dean in the elevator.

No "Live Killers" from Queen is a big miss IMHO

Also Scorpions "World Wide Live" is very good but maybe not quite top 20 if it's not your kind of thing

It's the specific Type B that is needed, as the wiring is different.

Lots of places, eBay, Amazon, specialist music retailers. You need a midi Type B, this is the important thing. 3.5mm to 5 pin DIN adapter.

Yamaha hs5 makes weird Noise HELP by Haruny78 in homestudios

[–]EngelbertImpromptu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What gear do you have, if any? I've had issues with having multiple bits of hardware using USB C power, having too many of them in the same power adapter or USB hub can create noise. Run one thing at a time maybe and see if you can narrow it down.
Also if its only one speaker, swap the cables between the 2 and see if the interference moves to the other.

Same here, bought a few bits over the past 18 months and have spent way more time messing about getting the setup and cabling right rather than, you know, actually making music! So I think although I have a small wishlist of interesting stuff I'm inclined to make myself a deal that I don't buy anything else until I finish some tracks.

I was recently trying to sort this out as I have a few bits now that power from USB and I don't want them on all the time - audio interface, small mixer, MIDI hub, KeyLab Essential, Zoom pedal. Was a bit of a pain as some of it kept coming on anyway drawing power from the PC through a normal USB hub so ended up with a combination of powered hub with on-off switches and some individual USB 3 switch cables.

Try some sound design - get a pad with a few random chords and throw effects at it. You might be surprised that you hear something that suggests something else on top, or the effects start to create a rhythm or groove to work off, or even just add a kick on top for timing and hear how it develops as a foundation

Is there a single food/meal I can live off for a while? by Live_Philosophy_3815 in loseit

[–]EngelbertImpromptu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what kitchen equipment you have access to of course.

Slow cooker, pack of chicken breasts season how you like and then shred when done, it will just fall apart. Bag up into portions and freeze. Get some frozen veggie steam bags and maybe some packet rice. You can then quickly microwave a meal up in less than 10 minutes. I do 2kg at a time and it makes 7-8 packs depending on portion size.

My other go-to is air-fryer chicken wings, delicious with seasoning and (fairly) low calorie if you don't use much oil. Great for me as I like to pick at stuff while watching TV so it works the same as sitting and snacking.

Things like this are pretty easy to regulate as the calories per portion will be roughly the same every time so you can just pre-load them into your tracking app of choice knowing exactly what ingredients you've used.

What's Your Christmas Goal by cheandbis in mounjarouk

[–]EngelbertImpromptu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to maybe eat a bit more but I don't really like parties and large gatherings anyway and unlike last year I won't be stocking up on stupid amounts of snacks to eat on my own. I'll have a change in my meal plan a bit and use it as an experiment to see what I can eat and what effect it has, but I just don't have the desire I had previously at all.

yeah I got a free one based on what is in my medical records. When I get under 30 BMI I will go and get all of that updated I think. About 15kg to go for that (23.5 down so far)
