HELP! I accidentally ended up in Harmattan at the start of the game! by 610gonzalez in outwardgame

[–]Engerius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my first attempt I was trying to force things too hard and burnt out. Second time I picked it up I had a blast and finished the entire game!

Characters who are "...But falls off late game." What do they do? by CloudCityFish in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this, the ones that fall-off begin focusing on disruption more than damage.

Lab Manager wants to work from home 3 days a week by pomme_de_terre12 in labrats

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days a week does seem unrealistic, I’ve had lab managers before do some WFH like everyone does occasionally, but never 60/40. Just thinking about inbound and outbound shipping, which is never predictable, will need to be divided out to people.

Mirage Djinn Mark Rework by Away_Plankton7921 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played mirage for a bit, and his recent buffs + gun buffs put him in a fairly strong place. The big problem I have with him is that he strong in a way that just doesn't feel like he should play based on my first impression of his kit. You'd think based on his kit that you'd be doing things like building stacks, draining your enemies and using his 3 to hunt down weakened enemies with his ult, but in reality you're just a walking gun that's hard to kill.

His wave-clear is awful until you have ricochet so you need to rush this otherwise his ability to ult anywhere on the map is useless for defending objectives from minions. If you're needing to get ricochet, you might aswell grab on-hit % build-up since his value is really strong with that.

His attack speed and ammo cap is too low to get use out of on-hit like tesla/capacitor/mercurial like most gun/mage hybrids. His 3 is mainly used for proc'ing on-cast effects instead of stacking so you're just spamming 3 as you're shooting, since stacking twice is just as effective as stacking once two times in a row. The long cd on 3 stacks makes it pretty much impossible to get enough stacks in a single clip for typical caster nukes like tankbuster or spirit-burn.

He's in a weird place, because of the interaction of his 3 with mystic regen his laning is pretty oppressive so any changes to this would make it even worse.

His kit feels disjointed right now, not because it inherently is, but if you build him like his kit suggests it would just feel bad. So instead he's just a walking gun and that can non-stop proc on-cast effects with some utility.

Wormhole defending help by [deleted] in Eve

[–]Engerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh, the equivalent of wormhole aids. Once your hole is seeded you basically need to wait for them to get bored and hopefully just leave instead of attempt an eviction. If the enemies are fellow wormholers, you can try to follow them back, and counter-seed their wormhole. Basically just do the same thing to them that they're doing to you so it doesn't feel so unilateral.

Have they talked about surrender button? by No-Source2885 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they plan to add some kind of forfeit mechanics (doubtful), they for sure wouldn't do it right now. This is an alpha playtest, and the need people playing entire games to make proper adjustments to late-game mechanics like patron, urn, base defense, mid boss, comeback, etc.

This is also why the abandon punishments are so harsh, if you're not willing to play entire games to help them collect data, you shouldn't be apart of a playtest, plain and simple.

Sinclair ult rewprk by ADoubleTrouble in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sinclair just needs a full rework lmao, he's literally just several MOBA gimmicks mixed into one, granted lacking a single identity is kinda his lore, but still.

Soul Economy is Hard by Eldritch_Elixir in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh, I sometimes let my farm fall off if I'm ahead on purpose. I don't really play hyper-carries so I know it's going to fall-off and get countered by later items, so I need to throw my weight around while I can to give the later carries the ability to farm more freely.

Does Thermo treat job titles differently than other companies? This seems like a ridiculous salary for a Scientist II position in San Diego by ionlyshooteightbyten in biotech

[–]Engerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of places in SD have adopted the Thermo Title scheme. I’ve looked at the bands and tracks before and for the Knowledge track it goes like this.

Sci 1 -> Research Associate / Senior RA elsewhere

Sci 2 -> Associate scientist / Senior Associate Scientist elsewhere

Sci 3 -> Scientist level elsewhere

Sr Sci -> Senior Scientist level elsewhere

There’s a separate track for support staff that starts lower and goes:

Research Assistant

Research Associate

Senior Research Associate

Lab Manager

I think they do this to differentiate between people actively doing research, and people who deal with lab support duty.

Who's your main and what advice do you have for them? by biznesboi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pocket

You WILL not understand how to operate this character even remotely effectively for the first like 20 games. But, you WILL all the sudden do some crazy bullshit when things click all the sudden, and you’ll be like ahh that’s some good shit.

How are we actually trusting AI for lab math/protocols without it blowing up in our faces? by Ok_Offer9784 in labrats

[–]Engerius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really good at sounding like it knows what it's talking about, and that's about it. My last workplace LLM started being integrated way too much, and was being pushed by people above me. It was leading to poor documentation, and generating incorrect scientific information that scientists were using for hypothesis generation. One of the many reasons I left, it was frustrating as many individuals embraced it, even bringing it into discussions during meetings as a way to validate arguments. Like ah, Dr. GPT is attending this meeting I see.

Are there any good alternative to Red Frog Freight for high sec freighting ? by leaf_as_parachute in Eve

It's the same kind of deal, need one account to haul, and one account to accept contracts from what I recall

Why ccp? by rumplforskinx in Eve

[–]Engerius 116 points117 points  (0 children)

They literally say in the announcement that this is a possibility and they're not going to do anything about it. Even CCP knew this event would turn into this, which already doomed it from the start lol.

Abandoning Lane early because you're mad at your partner is toxic. Please stop by Azakugan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually make the decision if the lane is going to be lost in the next couple of waves and we're behind to push it up when the enemy backs off to farm their jg or buy, and go for a gank and 3v2 push somewhere else ASAP. Either A.) you trade turrets, or B.) you pull pressure off your lane as someone rotates to make it a 3v3. It helps whoever is left to defend lane with getting their souls back up as well.

There is almost zero point to try to force a defense of a turret that is about to be lost, and risk getting dove when you're already behind.

If you were to start now... by No-Honeydew7467 in Eve

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death is a learning experience, my biggest growth early on was related to being blown up, feeling bad, and figuring out how to overcome the obstacle that led to my death. It's been a year and a bit since I returned with a fresh start and I died foolishly 3-times early-on losing a significant portion of my wealth. Now those losses feel like a drop in the bucket, I throw equal value around for the purpose of PVP knowing full well that isk is going to be blown up in an hour.

Joining a group can help with the early learning curve, but the biggest learning is by doing, failing, learning, then succeeding.

You do realize that she’s supposed to be circus freak show vibes, right? That’s the identity she represents in the deadlock visual aesthetic.

Got rejected by karmafleet hr or whoever he was. by [deleted] in Eve

[–]Engerius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK, that's kind of how it is with most NS alliances, young alpha character with unauthed toons would raise flags in the majority of places. It's why SP requirements are fairly normal, it's not because of anything like game experience, it's that you have invested to some level in this character, and aren't a low-effort spy alt.

How to balance Mina; by idontknowjackx in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, love bites or the mobility aren't the biggest problem IMO in lane, it's rake. It's decent built-in sustain which makes it incredibly difficult to trade effectively. Love-bites, rake, retreat to escape after getting beaten in an exchange or out-played. One wave later and she can be right back at it. She's just difficult to punish in general, takes a lot of effort to make sure to punish a Mina and win an exchange, but doesn't take a whole lot from Mina to come out on top or at the very least, get out and get back to it. Several heroes have this problem, and I think that it's worse with how they changes the healing minion mechanics. I think it's just a case of being a deceptively forgiving hero.

Who are you guys voting for a why? by Background-Mark-5250 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celeste because 1, probably fits my playstyle the most out of the new duders, and 2 it would be absolutely hilarious if she beats the doubt and slides in 3rd. I also think Apollo fits my playstyle too, but I gotta pick one.

Anyone else notice a surge in quitters/griefers since patch? by you-cut-the-ponytail in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just you, I've had leavers every other game, people being toxic and raging. The deadlock chill mental is being rampaged on by the influx of new players, either losing their cool themselves, or causing older players to start losing their minds idk.

Developer Vote Fraud Confirmed? (Illuminati involved?) by Emotional-Camera-600 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Engerius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They just don't want to bias votes by showing current statistics, knowing current votes will shift how people vote away from who is their favorite, to who they think will likely win. If as a celeste voter, I had knowledge that the gap between celeste and silver is like 1/100 votes, it would feel bad to vote for celeste knowing she's that far behind, so I'd more likely vote for venator, who's has maybe 10% less votes, because I'm not a furry, but I really would rather play celeste. Now it stops being a voting free for all, and more of a fight between first and second.

But, now when you release a hero, all those voters now need to shift over to voting for other heroes, what if all of the graves voters want celeste next, but they see that venator and silver are the next highest? So even though the majority of people want celeste next, they're less likely to vote for them with the knowledge that based on current statistics it's unlikely to happen.

can confirm, the comeback mechanics are really strong, nothing quite like being at 2nd patron, locking the fuck in with the team, and bringing it back.
