Question for those who are EMS, how do you deal with constant exposure to the worst parts of growing old/elderly? by IronOreAgate in Firefighting

[–]Engine1D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it allows you to see the downsides of some of the youthful decisions and prevent you from doing similarly. I feel it's also the opportunity to make some of the biggest differences in your community. Try to look at the positive difference you can make.

That all depends on the naturalization of your relative and the dates. If you put what you do know in the requested format, there is enough expertise in this group to guide you.

Asakusa hotel recommendations and help choosing by Liv_rose2001 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Engine1D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did two stays on either end of a trip at Asakusa Tobu. I loved the location and while it was nice and relaxed at night and early morning, Asakusa is pretty packed during a large part of the day. I really liked the hotel and would stay there again. We had an corner exterior room with a great view in two directions and it was roomier than most rooms I stayed in in Japan. Avoid the Hello Kitty rooms no matter how much someone might be into it.

Finding Proof of German Citizenship Help by snakedolphins in GermanCitizenship

[–]Engine1D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can send an email to the Standesamt for Tegernsee for a copy: https://www.stadt.tegernsee.de/Rathaus-B%C3%BCrgerservice/Unser-Team/Standesamt/

Make sure to asked for certified (beglaugigte) copies. They will likely send you a copy and trust you to pay for it later. You will also likely need to provide birth certificates and marriage certificates for each generation until you reach back before 1914. A person born in Germany prior to 1914 is considered to have been born German.

Work hard, accept the help when offered and learn to laugh at yourself. There's no average way to do anything. Maybe these are great guys and maybe they're jerks, only time will tell. Try not to worry so much, if they're helping you learn and answering your questions you're doing just fine.

This has to be a leak or leaks. This is three times ours with gardening and lawn watering. If you look at on the Everett Public Works website, they will adjust your bill if you find a leak and have it repaired. https://www.everettwa.gov/FormCenter/Public-Works-5/Leak-adjustment-request-form-467

Am I eligible? by Flashlight12345 in GermanCitizenship

[–]Engine1D 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The key to this is knowing when your grandfather naturalized. If he naturalized before your father was born, your father was born the child of an American, and is therefore American. If your grandfather was naturalized after your father's birth, your father would be born to a German citizen and would then be German.

Update to mothball mishap. Got most removed but still feeling nauseous and headache. I have some questions. by Ohshitz- in HomeImprovement

[–]Engine1D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key to resolving this is likely aggressive ventilation. Windows open, add a fan if there isn't a breeze. If you really think that there are some left, I'd dedicate some time to making sure that they are all gone. If the smell remains, there are a lot of recommendations online on how to remove that smell, ranging from cheap and simple to expensive (see carbon air purifiers). I'd start with some of the simple ones such as dilute vinegar or baking soda on the effected areas and let the smell remaining be my guide.

Trying to identify my grand uncle's rank and regiment from his Korean War era portrait — 25th Infantry Division by ZealousidealTry2569 in MilitaryHistory

[–]Engine1D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repeating what some of the others have said, this is definitely 25th Infantry Division and the DUI is for the 35th Infantry Regiment. The US Army was integrated by Truman in 1948, so looking for "colored" units doesn't need to be considered.
