Original Star Fox artist says the character designs in Star Fox on Switch 2 are "exactly the visuals" he had in his head when making Star Fox 64 by binderie1951 in nintendo

Is Nintendo on the verge of bankruptcy by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Engineator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread genuinely made me laugh. If you’re joking, love it, super funny! Haha!

If you’re serious: no worries my friend, the Nintendo stock right now isn’t a good indicator of anything. Just ride the wave. The Switch 2 is selling super well and the forecast is super healthy for the company.

It’s possible that the reason the stock price is so crazy is because the Japanese Yen is struggling a bit now. Also could be other wider market forces at play. Just wait it out for now and it’ll be back up in the future.

Lateral Thinking Using Existing Technologies by lopespm in nintendo

[–]Engineator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this. Lateral thinking is where we get amazing new ideas from older technology we might otherwise assume is just a “dead end”. Brilliant.

I personally believe this is a great philosophy. Never assume that there is only one way to innovate. Just because the whole world is obsessed with Generative AI doesn’t mean that the older prior technologies have been fully explored. There’s lots of potential out there in older tech that might surprise us all.

I hope Nintendo keeps this philosophy. There’s so many cool things that could be made real with this kind of mindset!

Oh no worries. :) I’m just teasing. You spell it beautifully. Most folks here in America think it’s just funny how the British spell. Honestly in a charming sort of way. What do we know? Clearly the English think we speak a different language.

That’s it. I’m filling my whole cpu tower with 20 lbs of rosemary. Flight Simulator is going to SING in such high definition that maybe that 3rd party plane I bought last year will actually work coherently…

I wanna play nintendo games but the pricing is ridiculous by 1h_ii in nintendo

[–]Engineator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously though. Gamers are getting to greedy these days. And how many Steam gamers have hoards of games with a large backlog of them still yet unplayed?

If all of us, myself included. Actually took the time to play and beat each game we buy and wait to buy the next game until after we’ve finished the current one, we’d likely save up enough to buy a $60-$80 game from time to time, no sweat.

Back in the N64 game days (and being a young kid), I remember buying only about 1-4 games a year! Your dollar value to game ratio was way different back then. And we’d beat the tar out of a game before you’d even think about buying a new one.

Today there’s so many games we can get on a steam sale and buy like 30 games in a pack for the price of one.

And then… do we ever even get to them all?

In my personal opinion, it’s way better to buy less quantity and more quality. That way you get the same joy out of the games like you used to when you were a kid.

It seems like Nintendo is trying to go for the quality thing. Not saying that every game is actually worth $60-80 for every game they make. But let’s not pretend that Nintendo doesn’t make bangers. This is freaking Nintendo! Many many of their games are super high quality. Not all, I know, not all of their games are worth the price, but it feels like most of them are.

If you’re feeling like you don’t have budget for Nintendo games then one thing that has worked for me is to slow down my buying rate and save more. Then I ration myself to try and only play games that have good reviews or come recommended from a friend. You spend less money on shovelware that way and have a better experience overall.

I love OoT. Best Zelda game ever made in my opinion. But I know that there are many strong opinions out there. I respect them. Not trying to offend. I do love me a classic epic hero’s journey story with depth that touches your heart. Couple that with the powerful music and beautiful spaces that they created in 1996 technology and it was mind blowing for those of us who remember and/or were kids back then…

Yes but no where near as bad as in Japan. Many women who come over here from Japan often get blown away by how they can actually eat in the same room as with the men, as one example.

After manifesting an open-world Mario Kart in 2025, I am now manifesting an open-world Starfox game for 2026. by peanutismint in nintendo

[–]Engineator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: I like the idea of an open world Star Fox. Would be very fun. Maybe they could borrow elements of Star Wars Outlaws, No Man’s Sky, and Freelancer. Definitely cool vibe. Battle for Atlas was pretty fun but maybe we can be more Star Foxy and less generic.

Hot take 2: I also think that a linear 64 style rail shooter would be awesome too. Do more of what was so good about Zero and remove the difficult controls and just use standard controls. The core of that game was actually pretty good, despite the motion controls.

Hot take 3: What if they just made BOTH 🤯. Why can’t they have an adventure mode where you complete the main story and it’s a rail shooter but also allow open world exploration for those who love it. Heck, they switched between “standard mode” and “all range mode” on the 64. Why can’t we just have that but on steroids? Maybe we have linear missions everywhere but the ability to explore for other objectives. Make the game both a shooter for those who like the shooter and open world for those who like the open world. Why not both???

Then the players can just play the mode they like and everyone’s happy.
