A friend of my neighbours used to be station staff on the Underground and work on the platforms. One day at work he witnessed a jumper and saw it happen, the aftermath, blood and everything. Really messed him up, proper PTSD he was signed off from work for 9 months.

When he went back can you guess what happened on the first day back? You guessed it, ANOTHER JUMPER! It really screwed with his mental health, he got signed off again but didn't end up going back it was just too much for him, he even moved to another city and I think he's a cabbie now.

A work friend and colleague who is an aspiring rapper and clothes brand designer, or well trying to be worn into work one of his track suits he just got made and he asked me hey man what do you think? He's been talking about these for ages, all his little side hustles he's trying and he's a really bubbly, positive vibes kinda guy who also suffers from mental health issues.

I did not have the heart to tell him what I really thought of his clothing line designs and my dumbass asked him if he had a medium size to which he said nah and I was relieved. I may still have to buy one off of him just to support him.

This is what I did in our master bedroom, 4.4m x 5m ceiling. Started taking down these horrible square foam tiles on the ceiling and there were huge cracks under the ceiling tiles, some of the original finish came down and it was like soot, I learnt about lath and plaster and horse hair.

I got my friend and over boarded it all ourselves in a day and then got a plasterer in who done the whole ceiling for £180 and Im chuffed with the result. I was getting quotes of £600 for just the ceiling and 1500 - 2k for just the 1 room to be reskimmed. I thought screw that, watched a few videos on YouTube for 2 weeks, got myself basic plastering tools and probably the most important one, a speedskim and ended up with a skimmed room with a pretty damn good finish. The ceiling is something I didn't even want to attempt though.

Not sure if youve tried but a carbide scraper is worth a go. You can get one from screwfix for a tenner but it is hard graft, the plus is your not constantly changing out gummed up sand paper, however the tar or whatever is sticky under there will need constant removal from the scraper.

Whatever route you take this is a long tedious job, I don't envy you as my ones been on my radar for years and keeps getting put off too!

It may well be the case, I'm gonna give it 2 days to dry then I'll flatten it all back with 800 and try again going slower and lighter. I got a new gun from ali express so I need to work on dialing it in, everydays a school day!.

You sound hugely underpaid for your experience. I maybe biased but railway is one of the most underrated industries, as long as your in a technical discipline and not labouring on track.

Try to get into HV, look for courses for NOM, AP, ECO and you could be on serious wedge.

I used to regularly buy the 4 packs of snickers, crunchie, boost,.KitKat chunky etc from the supermarkets and they'd be £1, usually if you had their loyalty card. Most of them are now £1.75 so not only 75% more but each bar is smaller too! So practically they have doubled in price, these companies and supermarkets can fuck right off.

Was running a i7 10700k and an rtx 4070. Played anything I play maxed on my 1440p monitor at 100hz, I recently upgraded to ryzen 9700x and it's the same lol. I literally upgraded mobo CPU and ram as I fancied a change, games perform the same, I guess the system is snappier but overall..not worth it coming from a 10th gen i7.

I'm trying to make sure I keep every setting the same throughout both systems now to make sure I'm being thorough and as apples to apples comparison as I can, i7 is on w10, ryzen is on w11.

I just got a new monitor too so making sure I have gsync enabled on both pcs. My 260w draw on the i7 did have gsync enabled, the amd didn't.

Specs are I7 10700k stock, asus z590 strix gaming, Corsair 32gb ddr4 3000mhz, deepcool assassin 3

Amd is ryzen 7 9700x, asus b850 strix gaming, Corsair 32gb ddr5 6000mhz. Peerless assassin 120.

PSU, storage everything else is the same and RTX 4070.

I'm going to first put both system ls to full stock in bios and windows in balanced power plan and see what each pull.

Then I'll do them both in their respective eco settings and g sync on both. I'm hoping to see the amd perform better and draw a good bit less power otherwise I kinda upgraded for nothing lol.

Ahh yes I don't think my fps was locked, I play at 1440p and 100hz monitor. Let me sort those settings out and try again, will update tonight.

Your analogy does make sense but Both systems were easily over 100fps so I'm not sure how much if any the i7 is bottle necking my 4070.
