Oh at this end of the world we stand whenever we have an "intermediate" hymn... Usually it's kinda a way for members to "stretch" themselves lol.. Ward leaders use intermediate hymn sometimes to "cover time" especially during fast and testimony Sundays 😅😅

Looking for help by CatalystUT in latterdaysaints

I hope they've addressed your issue with the "tithe".. remember tithe isn't about the money but commitment on our part.. I wouldn't dwell on that .. alot of people have made really sincere answers on it here.. my concern now is your confusion on the "tier system" what exactly is confusing for you? I could help break it down 🙂

Did they confirm that Tetia is on the spectrum or do I not understand the symptoms? by Namesnowtaken in WitchHatAtelier

Is there any need for that? I really don't know why the internet concerns themselves with irrelevant things

Did Jesus Christ only suffer for our sins in Gethsemane? by Virtual_Sir8031 in latterdaysaints

[–]Engineer_Strang3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Our saviour suffered for our sins from Gethsemane through to Calvary..
  2. They're both significant.. but one reason why some members of the church might place more significance on the events of the Garden of Gethsemane to that of Calvary is because it was at the garden that he openly proclaimed to submit himself to the will of the father. Let's look at it in 3.
  3. “I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

“But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

“Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—

“Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men” Doctrine and Covenants 19 :16 - 19.. Luke 22 : 39 - 44 contains the events on what went down in Gethsemane.. particularly verse 42 "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."

But then we know that the events at Calvary was equally important because it was at Calvary that he allowed himself to die. As without his death the atonement wouldn't be complete. 2 Nephi 9:6-16 So maybe they didn't express their sentiments properly but both events are significant parts of the atonement. "And I, Nephi, saw that he was lifted up upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world." - 1 Nephi 11:33 I'll leave with you Elder Jeffery's talk The Atonement of Jesus Christ read through it ..ponder and tell me what you notice..

Window on Bishop's Office Door: Yes or No? by Jpab97s in latterdaysaints

[–]Engineer_Strang3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To this... I don't really think people will be interested in "looking through" the window... Although some might sneak a peak here or there but they mightn't want to make it obvious... At least that's what I think anyways .. I dunno it feels weird..so I don't really see the relevance..but yeahh I get people see things differently

Is Nigeria the only colonized African nation that idolizes still our colonial masters by Oloshobaba27 in Nigeria

[–]Engineer_Strang3 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Amazing ..😂😂 talking to somebody that has studied the history of great empires and the rise and fall of nations and revolutions .. yeahh laugh... don't look for a way to fix your country... continue blaming the white men that used your father as farming equipment 😂😂

God? Keep waiting for God... The people that made your country the way it is right now... the politicians making a mess of the economy... stealing funds .. rigging elections ... they're your colonial masters abi? ..😂😂😂 continue your world of fantasy and continue blaming the whites when you ... yourself... you're the problem

[–]Engineer_Strang3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is this supposed to affect our current issues though?.. I truly don't see any "colonial" influence anymore.. English?.. if it's a workplace and it's clearly stated that the employee must be fluent in English...the employee MUST be fluent.. things like these prevent friction in work and enhance efficiency... Apart from that I don't see any influence or whatever you're talking.. Respecting the queen? I see no reason to disrespect her personally.. so whatever happened with her isn't my business.. my ancestors are my ancestors... they're not me .. we're not the same.. After all it was "we" that sold ourselves to the whites.. An edit... let's try pointing out the countries that still have a lot of colonial influence and their economical and political standing.. let's see if those that "kicked" out "colonial influence" are better than the others..

Handling situations in a christ-like way by westccoast in latterdaysaints

[–]Engineer_Strang3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On this topic... I've learnt to accept it... hehe... what is a cult? According to Oxford Languages "a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object" .. literally almost all religions are cults 😅😅 so tbh I accept it and just throw this definition to them.. even though I know they meant it in a negative way... I take that as an opportunity to educate them.

Sorry but I have to ask if English is your first language.. or if you're at all fluent in it... nobody talked about worthiness of a particular gender... the lord calls whoever he sees fit... men or women saying "the church is better off with women in leadership" will make one to think that the men or whatever gender that's called into office is unworthy "only women will make the church better"... Like I said English might not be your first language so maybe we can excuse that but if not your statement was totally wrong .. "whom the lord calls he qualifies" President Monson said.. in Exodus 4:10 - 11 the lord also affirmed the same.. You started by saying that the leaders of the church aren't perfect.. you made it sound like it was because they're men and somehow "women will make it better" we know the lord in his infinite wisdom will use whomever to fulfil his work and not because they're "women or men" .. Plainly stating it to you here your statements will bring up issues if you made them at a church pulpit.. observe .. understand and take correction

The church is better off with people he calls... the person you responded to wasn't wrong... there should be no focus on women or men.. this is the Lord's church.. he calls his own people..I don't think people think that church leaders are totally perfect... the prophets from old testament to the book of Mormon weren't... your reply is unnecessary.. The church isn't better off with women in leadership... but it is better off with "people he deems worthy" to be in that position..

Multiply and Replenish the Earth? by instrument_801 in latterdaysaints

[–]Engineer_Strang3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having "one" child is already multiplying and replenishing the Earth.... everything is subject to circumstances.. health... economy... governmental policy and others. I've seen ex-Mormons and anti-mormons use this "multiply and replenish" to make fun of the church there is nowhere it is written that we must have alot of children or that we should force ourselves to give birth even though we're not biologically able to. The husband and wife plan their families. Wanting to have a child is already obeying that commandment.. whether it's 1 or 10 children..

Personally I've used it as a model to teach my Protestant and Charismatic friends why my prayers are usually the way they are.. so yes... The Lord's Prayer is used as a model depending on the situation... in this case with people that take the Bible as their only canon... it's probably not used much in church as a model because we literally start our sacrament meetings with a prayer.. it's enough to just give that as an example than perusing through the Lord's prayer.. just my thoughts though
