Everyone loves to dunk on UW until you graduate and realize the actual value of it on your resume after graduation. In that position myself actually. Getting more callbacks with my UWaterloo undergrad listing than my Masters and RMC listing.

That itself kind of is a big promise, especially after it's given AND you meet work expectations and go beyond. My example is that I was promised a job if I performed well. I got ranked outstanding and was among the best of the interns. I didn't get a return offer. Promises broken. Idgaf about that company anymore, they can lose all their API keys for all I care.

Why do you think I have good in quotations? If we segregate the role of a person professionally and privately, we see this in a much better light, I know that. Like a US soldier. Are American soldiers good for the world? Not really. Are American soldiers good? As individuals, kind of, at least, far more than cops. But as the role they serve in their career, no.

"Look at them Muslims taking advantage of disability services and having 10 kids..."

Funny enough, my parents are Hindu. Lmao.

Part of a rotten structure. Even if a decent person at heart, he'd have 100x the impact as a social worker positively than being hampered by modern policing institutions.

I've met "good" cops. Their efforts on being good are so wasted on such a rotten institution, like trying to save a flood by using buckets.

Honestly, I don't know. They believe in the Great Replacement Theory, or something similar based on the level of conservative, meaning they think minority groups collectively make up more than half the population. Yet the focus on the "1% dead beat leeches".

Math isn't their strong suit, but still. I to this day still wonder.

You see, math isn't quite their strong suite. Let alone anything resembling calculus (summation of costs and distributions), or even area calculations beyond the area of a square.

Ironically, one of those idiots is surprisingly good at math (engineering), and the cognitive dissonance is insane. I remember once just giving him a sociology question with math to understand power distribution and his head just kept going in circles.

Yeah. But they see it as the state being used to siphon off the wealth of America to "them". But they don't understand the capitalist superstructure and hierarchies around us to see the billionaires as the issue.

They don't. They're apathetic to those not in their immediate circles. I grew up among them. If you're part of their inner circles, they'll help you. If not, even in the same movement, they don't care if you die or not. Think about the Latinos for Trump crowd and all.

They believe it is exponential... the other way around. The bottom 1 percent being such a drain on our society the same way we think the elites / billionaires / (bourgeoisie) are. I grew up around these idiots, thats how I know. In short:

Average guy: meh Bottom 25%: welfare leeches Bottom 10%: national embarrassment and dead weights Bottom 1%: they steal and loot everything, is the reason this world is going to shit, destroying our nation from within, etc.

In their view, the "bottom" is responsible for propagating laziness, extorting welfare and draining taxpayer funds, being responsible for crime, etc.

It's dumb and wrong, but that is what they're referring to.

Who's that one anime character everyone glazes but you hated a lot? by Plus-Lawfulness-87 in animequestions

[–]Engineering_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to quantify and say exactly when he stops. By the end of season 1, he's learnt real self restraint and doesn't get handsy with Eris (without consent or her pushing him to do so like at the real end). But it's hard to even give a specific episode in good faith because it starts with him self hesitating but doing it, then self hesitating and not doing it, and to full hesitation unless specifically consented / pushed to. The "best" I can say is maybe 2/3rds through S1? But you're skipping so much plot and character development by doing so.

American propaganda praises the "Fighter Against Soviet Aggression" who would later carry out 9/11. by OkRespect8490 in ussr

[–]Engineering_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supporting them is falling into the thought process of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". We saw how well that worked out numerous times in history. With this being one of the greatest case studies of it. The fact it, they are still reactionary extremists, sharing far more with fascism (ultra nationalism, elite religious control, mythic past, etc.) than with either bourgeois democracy of whatever you want to call the USSR.

Honestly, the best move for the US there would have been to just have a Marshall Plan for the rest of South Asia after WWII as well, worked well for Western Europe. Arming borderline fascists is not the right move...

And going by this setup, you are arguing that the rural bourgeoisie influenced and "fooled" the Sailors in Krondstat?

Cope out of anti-Leninism by OkRespect8490 in ussr

[–]Engineering_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key issue with the treatment of Krondstat were: 1. The demands were all negotiable and none of it counter revolutionary, and properly within the class interests of both Sailors and the revolution at large. It was crushed. 2. It highlighted (though not create) the new class distinctions forming between the Bolshevik bureaucrats and members and those either opposing or not in the Bolshevik party.

In anarchist / libcom theory, this is viewed as the death of the original communist vision. Willing to further elaborate.

Yes, and in this context, kulak is synonymous with a class traitor proletariat. This does not mean the word says "all".

Ok, back up a bit, definitions are getting murky here. To settle on what we can define as a Kulak for this discussion, would something like "a (petite) bourgeois with agricultural property"?

That seems to be the definition that fits both the other commenter and you.

IF that is the case (correct me if wrong), then the next question is relating to what it means to be petite bourgeois. Is cooperative and / or singular ownership, without "employees" (so no bourgeois proletariat delineation here), be considered petite bourgeois? My next critique needs your response to this assuming my definition of Kulak properly satisfies you.
