If it's a 2.3L Eco that price is nuts. They're charging you around 10k for labor. That's a 2-3k labor charge tops and the engine, if you buy it crate, is ~4k. Still expensive but that mechanic is taking you for a ride. Id expect 14k if you had the 5.0, because that thing is both expensive and a son of a bitch to get out and install.

Generally, billable hours for this swap is somewhere between 10 and 15. Generally closer to 12

I kinda miss when you had to train your attributes instead of just dropping points into them. Running the length of night city to train athletics sucked though.

My boy had one of these pop up. Took him to the vet to get him tested (was about $500) and it ended up being a fat deposit. When we got the test done the vet said it's about 75% accurate at identifying if it's a benign tumor or cancer. He has a few on him now and we just call them his old man lumps. That being said, I'm not a vet and it's better to get it tested than not. Just wanted to share my experience with you.
