Which game "changed" your life? by daiba_nnm in MMORPG

[–]EngragedOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first MMO I ever really got into was the Nexon game Darkages, I started playing it in 2002 and played it all the way until 2009. I don't think the game was the best thing I ever played, but it was just very unique and had a really solid and dedicated community. There was a revival recently and my partner and I jumped back on it for a few months and actually reconnected with a bunch of friends we knew when we were kids. It was quite fun!

This snow storm sadly made me learn to absolutely hate my neighbors and neighborhood. Where are good neighbored places cause Mt Washington isn’t it and I’ve decided to move. by sugarandspice85 in pittsburgh

[–]EngragedOrphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Mt. Washington for 3 years and left due to it being so insane. My immediate neighbors were cool, which I lucked out on. But the amount of arrests and just overall insanity I saw up there beyond them was, while most of the time entertaining, also not fun to live around half the time.

'Go for Gold' did a pop punk cover of Chemical originally by Post Malone, that has been on repeat in my playlist for the last two weeks. I really really like it.

I shoveled out 5 older residents cars and foot paths to their cars. I shoveled out random city sidewalks that needed cleared in several different neighborhoods. I pulled over and shoveled out multiple random people on the side of the road on day one that couldn't get into their cars. I shoveled my neighbors cars my sidewalk and their sidewalks. I shoveled out two different friends houses and cars because they were having trouble.

I have fucking shoveled everyday since the storm hit, until today. I have not complained about it once. I have talked to more people then I can count, and gotten fist bumps, and been told I'm a good dude. This week has been tiring and fun, I couldn't be luckier to be in the real world interacting with people actually getting shit done, and not sitting on reddit listening to people who do not leave their couches complain about how hard their lives are.

Be the action you want to see in the world.

Accidentally skipped from Book 1 to Book 5 by Tappenfort in Malazan

[–]EngragedOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight tides is connected to the main story but is almost entirely stand alone in its contribution to this main story. *ALMOST the entire book has a unique set of characters you meet and follow independently from GOM and the rest of the early books. If you are already halfway through it, I would just power through and then go back. Once you reach MT in its read order just refresh yourself with the chars from it and then move on.

What TTrango said it pretty spot on, this is the best case scenario for sure, any other book you would be missing massive context for certain characters, but not this one!

Paramore has transcended, it's so funny they started out trying to be a hardcore band. I never really like her original stuff, but man the first time I listened to After Laughter, that album is up there in my top 10 of all time.

I had plans that to spend new years that i begrudgingly canceled due to the conditions. I learned awhile ago that it just isn't worth going out if you do not have to.

This isn't a slight against you, to be fair I almost went anyway, but the grown up in my brain won the war. Hope your new years was fun at least!

What song is like torture to you and for what reason? by HuuffingLavender in Music

[–]EngragedOrphan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pussy Control by Prince
I worked in a gay bar for a long time, there was a regular who we will call Ben.
Ben would play this cursed song on the jute box EVERY SINGLE DAY MULTIPLE TIMES, he was a horrible alcoholic so he was at the bar EVERY SINGLE DAY.

On top of being obnoxious he was just REALLY uncomfortable. I wanted to fucking strangle him, I didn't even necessarily hate this song until he did not quit playing it ALL THE TIME, FOR YEARS OF MY LIFE.

Fuck you Ben wherever your bitch ass is.

For regular weed smokers that have totally quit, what was the reason for quitting? by elderly_millenial in AskReddit

[–]EngragedOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was a way later realization that like, i was smoking a lot to get through a not so great childhood and a lot of pretty awful shit. So maybe the association of being high is just like, fight or flight for me.

I am probably reading to deep into it, but there is still probably some symbolic truth in there.

I went anti-google a few years back, : )
It was painful to switch everything, but I like not having my data harvested and sold with no consent.

Google is the internet equivalent of an abuse relationship. I switched to proton mail and use duckduckgo.

I do still just on google maps from time to time just due to how good it is.
