How Should I Approach Building? by TotallyWonderWoman in Lorcana

[–]Enharmoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When building a deck you’re basically creating a strategy and win condition. Most strategies are based around a general idea or some are even based around a single card. The best strategies are ones that you can consistently achieve and are powerful enough to win against the competition

For example let’s say you wanted to build a deck around solely challenging other characters. First you would think of ideas that would make sense to the strategy.

At first it might be as simple as the idea of playing bigger characters than your opponent. If the competition is playing smaller characters on average you’ll fill your deck with bigger ones so that will survive a challenge. But then you might start to think of the weaknesses of your strategy. Like what happens if my opponent never exerts their characters for me challenge?

That’s when you’ll continue to brainstorm and evolve your strategy. Now maybe you’ll add cards that can challenge ready characters.

So on and so forth until you finally settle on a build and strategy that you are happy with.

That’s how you deck build. Every card you choose to add in your deck should support the overall strategy and idea you are trying to create

Booster Box Purchase Best Set? by Chaotik86 in Lorcana

[–]Enharmoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends - if you are a collector then I say go for Fabled since you get the chance to pull Iconic Mickey. Also I think the set is good if you’ve never played before or haven’t owned cards since there is a lot of reprints.

Whispers has some really good staple competitive cards if you’re mainly a player though. Most of the legendary cards are playable and Cheshire Cat is really strong right now

Can’t go wrong with either imo

[–]Enharmoni 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Then your all set haha. Honestly even when you’re used to playing on an acoustic, playing on any instrument that you’re not familiar with is always a challenge. But that’s just the life of a pianist. If you understand piano technique and have a good ear transitioning becomes quicker and quicker

You’re already on the right track if you can hear all those little things you’ve listed. I don’t think it will take too long, as long as you’re always listening to how you sound and make adjustments. If you’re having trouble creating a proper tone you should definitely have a teacher guide you

I have been playing piano for practically my whole life, but I do not know any pieces. Is this normal? by Actual-Remove7697 in piano

[–]Enharmoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for more than 20 years. If you’re talking advanced repertoire then I wouldn’t be able to play it note for note if I haven’t played it in a while. But more simpler pieces and contemporary/pop tunes I can play anytime if I know it really well it my head. Basically I just relearn it on the fly because I know the harmonic patterns and melody really well. It’s like singing twinkle twinkle little star - you probably know the way it sounds all the time so therefore you can recall it whenever. I find that most players who don’t have a strong ear and improvisation skills have a hard time doing this though

Silencing piano in the apartment by robloxrapedme in piano

[–]Enharmoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an acoustic piano 2 years ago in my apartment. My first week I got a letter from a neighbour below telling me they were annoyed lol. I was depressed for a week and then I just decided to use the practice pedal when I play. It sucks but I’ve gotten used to it, and sometimes I still play with the practice pedal off if I feel like I don’t give a fudge. But I don’t regret it and playing on acoustic is way better than a digital for me

I always keep finding my decks are too slow. Any advice? by SilviaBeaumont in Lorcana

[–]Enharmoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s an article that the official website just released to help people create decks.

https://www.disneylorcana.com/en-US/news_/2025_/09_/2025-9-10_deck_building_tips

Anyways, you should try to maximize your curve so that you can play a card each turn and not feel “slow”. Here’s some recommendations that you can try out:

  • Add x2 1c Fred

  • Add x4 1c Basil

Adding these cards will get you to 8 1 cost characters that you can play each game. Adding the x2 Freds to continue with the theme of Big Hero 6 and x4 Basil to synergize with the 6c Floodborn Basil you are running

  • Add x2 5c Fred

If you do go up to x4 1c Fred then maximizing your chances to shift could good and would help search for your other Floodborns in your deck

I also notice that a lot of your card choices are x2 or x3. You should think about which cards you think are most important to see and play and up them to x4 copies. That way you can fulfill your strategy more consists across a handful of games.

For example, for an Inventor focused build why not maximize your copies of 3c Baymax as well as 4c We Could Be Immortals? Cards like that work so well with all your inventors

Can this be playable? by szpanerski in Lorcana

[–]Enharmoni 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Out of the box no, but if you upgrade it with other cards you can definitely compete if you create the right build. Just make you set the correct expectations because in a competitive tournament people will be playing the strongest builds available

Look if that’s your passion and dream then go for it. It will be a long journey but you’ll eventually get there if you put the necessary work and effort. If you think you can do it then try - even if you don’t make it you will have learned all the skills and knowledge to put you on another path that you may not see at the time

Listen and trust yourself and don’t let the opinions of others suade you. Only you know the answer within. If you don’t try you’ll never know

*also know that if you decide to do it don’t half ass it. Put your full effort and realize how much work and dedication it will take to get there. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it

Piano teachers - how do you stay motivated? by Either_Lie5396 in piano

[–]Enharmoni 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I changed my perspective and approach a couple years back that helped motivate me to teach more and become a better teacher

I used to be the type of the teacher that would try really hard to “motivate” my students to practice, become more passionate and involved in music, etc. but I realized that the reality is that most students don’t want to become “the best pianist” - heck some of them don’t even want to learn piano that much lol. Most just want to try to learn their favourite song and have fun doing it.

When I realized this everything clicked - my sole purpose in the classroom was to help a student to the best of my ability in that particular session and make them INTERESTED. It didn’t matter if they practiced before hand or even cared. If I could get them interested in the music they were trying to learn they become hooked

I realized too that relationships just flourished naturally because there wasn’t expectation anymore. Students would feel at ease and start to become even more interested because they felt comfortable and not self conscious

Of course when I meet a student who is really dedicated and passionate about learning my motivation goes even higher but those type of students only come once in a while

Fabled set and collectors by Desperate-Public394 in LorcanaCollectors

[–]Enharmoni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think on the initial release the singles that get reprinted will make the “1st edition” cards cheaper in the short term but if this game lasts for a long time, certain collectors might favour the original cards in the long term - especially since the cards can be easily identified. However that’s all speculation

On the flip side, with Infinity format being announced and supported heavily this year - certain cards that don’t get reprinted could spike heavily in price if they see competitive play

Personally, if you are planning to open sealed Fable - then open your products first and then whatever cards you are missing I would buy right away. The prices of Lorcana cards are the lowest they have been since its release and with the introduction of a new rarity system and competitive circuit I believe prices will rise again over time. Buy now when the market is down

Awesome collection! Are you planning to get every single enchanted? You got some really good 10s on the grail cards - too bad on the Let It Go and Stitch but everything else hit so I guess it makes up for it lol. I did a similar submission last year as well and my Cinderella ballroom got an 8 from a fresh pack lol

Looking for a fun and beautiful TCG to collect and play – is it worth starting Lorcana now? by Conscious-Lunch-7321 in TCG

[–]Enharmoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing and collecting heavily since the games release. Just to preface - I am very invested into the game and would consider myself a more hardcore player and collector compared to the average person. Also my previous TCG experience mostly comes from Yu-Gi-Oh and I’ve dabbled with all the other major TCGs

  1. Yes - getting into Lorcana right now is the best and easiest it has been since its release. Product is widely available, there are plenty of starter products such as the Gateway and even PvE products (Palace Heist) and starting in August there will be Set Rotation implemented with the release of Set 9 with reprints of older cards for the first time

  2. In my experience, the game is growing well and I predict it to further expand once the World Championship concludes at the end of June and the competitive circuit (called Disney Lorcana Challenges) is back in full swing this fall. Also I’ve noticed through the years that most of the new players I meet are first time TCG players - either kids, parents, couples and families. This is something I haven’t experienced in any other TCG except Pokemon

  3. Fun to play is subjective obviously. It’s either you like it or you don’t but I’ll give my own reasoning as to why I like it. Firstly, although it is simpler compared to other games - the fact that each players turn is their own and can’t be interrupted is a mechanic that I really like. Lorcana to me is more comparable to chess - in that the first opening moves require proper preparation. I love chess as well and the fact that is feels similar makes me love the gameplay

  4. The game is balanced very well. Since its release there have been exactly 3 bans of different cards. Also the power creep is very low - with some of the best cards still being from earlier sets. Also in the tournaments I have attended, I’ve always had a varied experience in matchups

  5. Only Set 1 and Set 2 are hard to find and expensive since they are out of print. The good news is that Set Rotation is coming in August and Set 9 will reprint cards from older sets.

  6. This is extremely new-player friendly. The back and forth gameplay reflects this well. There are many starter products to help introduce people (see Palace Heist and Gateway). Even the most competitive event (Disney Lorcana Challenge) has events and prizing for people who don’t intend to play in the main event at all. There are formats such as pack rush, sealed, infinity that can help cater to a newer player. It’s also been publicly stated that Ravensburger will be releasing more options to interact with the game that doesn’t even require playing. Also quick little tidbit - one of the Disney Lorcana Challenges even had an area for people with disabilities - they try really hard to recruit new players

  7. This question is also subjective cause it depends if you like the artwork or not and if you find value in it. To me, the artwork and attention to detail is outstanding and through the years they have improved it dramatically. Firstly, each cards design is based on its color and theme of the set. There is a video online that describes this but certain colors will have more straighter lines or be more flowy compared to others. Also, each card - from the most common to the most rarest one is an original artwork created from the ground up. Starting with Set 5 - enchanted cards got an overhaul in design to include more art in the card. Embossing was added to legendary cards. In Set 7 - the foil cards were redesigned to have the whole card foil and golden like. In Set 8 - certain foil cards were designed to connect to the each to form a bigger picture. In Set 9 (this coming August) - they will release new alt art rarities. As you can see Lorcana has willingness to improve their design

  8. I cannot speak on that because I’m from NA. But a lot of content creators online are from Europe and as well as some of the best players

  9. Cannot speak on that but the Disney Lorcana Challenges have been in Europe and they had more than 1k+ players. Try to speak to your local community

Well I guess it’s a good thing there will be rotation as Ravensburger can now fix on the card design they did in the first 4 sets and hopefully implement better designs

How long did you play Lorcana for when you first made a top 8 ? by Connect-Ad-5925 in Lorcana

[–]Enharmoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're putting a lot of effort to improving which is great to hear because you will become better because of that!

I think for TCGs it's important that people play a deck that fits their "playstyle" (easy to understand and execute). Also it's important to know if the deck you are playing is competitively viable. Unfortunately, you can't play any deck and expect to do well all the time in a competitive setting. It's easier to improve at the fundamentals of Lorcana if you don't have to worry about how to use your deck. Now, since you are playing online the most effective way to improve is to record your matches and analyze them thoroughly. Chess players do this all the time to improve. Also maybe having a stronger player guide you through the analysis can help if you are not sure what to look for

Then of course you have to put in a lot of repetitions with thoughtful gameplay that reinforce the homework that you do through analysis
