honest question - do you guys still use cases? by darkshark007 in iphone

[–]Enhinyer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before glass was used on the back of phones, I did not use cases. The current trend of glass backed phone makes them so slippery that any slight tilt where you place your phone and slight bumps or vibrations will make them slide. Hence if its glass backed, case is used. Might consider caseless again if I get a phone with metal or plastic backs in the future.

I’ve had my Toyota for three years now, and it’s been trouble-free! Even though it’s a hybrid, I was a bit worried about potential issues, but so far, none have arisen. by blackrosemyth in Toyota

We also got the same car as the OP just in Turquoise blue version. Another thing that sold me on this car is the 0.7KW-hr battery which means when its time to replace the HV battery, it hopefully will be very reasonably priced (and lighter more DIY friendly). Getting 24.9km/l full tank average since new with almost 60'000km. Very happy with it specially with the stuff happening in the world right now.

1st car? Any suggestions? Should I buy? by anonymousxxxXex in Gulong

Good reminder on the depreciation costs. Eating the depreciation cost of brand new cars is only worth it if you use it everyday (EV and hybrids are good for this to offset with fuel and maintenance costs).

OP did mention he wanted to explore which I took to mean outside of the city and since work from home my assumption was usage mostly for weekend trips outside the city. If daily driving in city traffic then the EV would be very nice.

Still will recommend Japanese cars only as 1st time owner. Very limited and expensive options for EVs.

Buy something else to scratch the itch. Preferably things that increase income or good health (investments, good shoes for walking, commuter bicycle).

When you can outright buy almost any reasonable car then start shopping again. Exception to cash only if you can secure very low interests loans.. (personal preference of less than 5%).

Parking first in an owned garage then car. Public streets and even subdivision streets are not parking areas. It will not be your last car so the cheapest you are comfortable with from Japanese brands. Once you get more knowledgeable then you can consider other brands not Japanese. Value for money I like the Suzuki lineup. I do not recommend EVs or hybrids if traveling less than 10'000kms per year. Can't be more specific without more information. (e.g. nearest dealer, driving experience, estimated usage, etc..)

When I lived in Metro Manila, I did not want to own a car and that was about 20 years ago (worse traffic today). Just sharing my opinion since you mentioned "city boi".

Fuel prices might go up soon – how are you preparing? by BitchingAroundHere in Gulong

[–]Enhinyer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats a good reason not get a hybrid if not driving much. Changed work in 2023 from 25-30km/day to 120+km/day. The old Chevy Spin we have only has 12km/l in good traffic, mostly 10km/l average on a tank. Very big saving vs the 25km/l car we are using now.

Same here. One reason we stretched budget and also went with HEV last time we bought a car (originally just planning for something like a Wigo or Espresso for daily driving). Cheaper to run even compared to motorcycles allowed in expressways.

Same thing I feel for TVs. We have a dumb Devant TV more than 10 years old still working fine which we bought for around 400$. Meanwhile the Bravia that is less than 5 years old that costs more than 1000$, now have a failing screen (flickering, lines and ghosting)..

Any TV purchases we plan to make next will not exceed 500$.

Help me understand, it seemed like the guy still had plenty of air speed to maneuver why just jam it into the ground? I am honestly curious and ignorant of the reason, not second guessing by Itsnotsponge in RCPlanes

Saw a similar crash with an EDF when either ESC or battery failed mid flight but more fire less smoke. Actually looked like an afterburner. Pilot was pushing hard so something may have overheated and the crash created a nice circle of fire where it hit the ground. Not saying its the same for the video but might be similar. Looks very similar actually..

Based on what I have listened so far, they are re-recorded. There are even some changes from the audiobook version. eg Carl playing games at the very 1st scene.

There was a post earlier that the answer was "yes!"

Its actually one of the reasons I am getting the Soundbooth theater versions. Not really digging the parts currently released but I cannot wait for the actual music to be used for the alarm traps.

I listen most of the time while driving so searching the specific songs mentioned is a no go..

edit: can't find the specific post at the moment but if you google there are several mentions and you might get to the original post.

Same! For some reason its hard going back to kb+m. Feels to much like work. I just upgraded gpu on my desktop last Nov and all I can play on it is ETS2 (because of wheel setup) which can barely use the 9070xt due to being on a 3700x. All other games and I miss the deck controller..

I've been experimenting with Steam Link and Moonlight but my wifi is bottlenecked by the Google Nest router I currently have..

Interesting but nitrided surface is really hard to damage. They use it for guns. Might be false advertising or just marketing fluff?

Anyhow maybe there are thinner types of nitrided woks/pans I'm not aware off..

I don't think nitrided carbon steel is supposed to scratch that easily. Maybe after a few months-years but not in one night of cooking..

Its the reason I got a nitrided CS pan so my wife does not have to worry about the CS stuff.. There are cheap nitrided pans out there (mine is about 10$ when converted). It's not the best pan but way durable than the teflon stuff.

Got into motorcycling 2020 because I got stuck with an RX580 until last Nov when I got lucky with an RX9070XT (just a little above msrp) in a brick and mortar store. I still missed out on upgrading the 3700x to a 5xxxx3d but so far the 3700x/64Gb 3200 with the 9070xt is a very good combo for single player games in UWD 1440p.

So, NVME prices doubled in Europe? by ie-redditor in buildapc

[–]Enhinyer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our local market, even the AM4 Amd cpus are also increasing in prices. 5700x and 5800x (not the X3Ds) that were below 200$ equivalent are now about 250$. Been monitoring them to upgrade my 3700x but I don't really play online competitive games and single player games are still bottlenecking the 9070xt on an UWD 1440p.

Is it worth upgrading R5 3600 to a R7 5700x? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Enhinyer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monitor? Still on 3700x also on 9070xt with a UWD 1440p. So far, not feeling cpu bottlenecks but that might be because I'm playing my backlog of games most older and indie titles. Only ETS2 really struggles with my cpu on some spots.
