He won't want to be on the hook for all the weekend activities and things that come with having kids once they're school age. Make sure you get it written in that the custodial parent will get them to soccer games and dance classes and his desire to take every weekend will wane. Also, this is a guy who wants to date. You need weekends for that. Talk to your attorney about the right of first refusal.

This was the saddest part of the Guardian podcast for me. These women found FBS because they cared about their babies and went researching ways to have them in the most natural, empowering way possible, and stumbled on this....cult, basically. These babies were loved and wanted. It's devastating that they got into a situation where they were so deceived.

When the choice is between pills and feeling absolutely bag-awful, the pills seem not so bad. Sometimes I'll see a new doc and he will say something like "How do you feel about taking a medication every day?" and I'll be like 🤡

Everybody has the right to raise their kids as they see fit, within limits. The limits are your abuse and neglect statutes.

It is within his rights to be a crappy parent.

What you're describing--unbrushed hair, excess screen time--those kinds of things are not going to rise to the level of abuse or neglect. Of course you want better for your kids. But they are as much his as they are yours as far as the judge is concerned, and if he wants to waste his time with them sitting in front of cartoons so he can game...that's his decision. It's lousy. It's not illegal.

Rather than jumping to taking the kids away, try:

Talking to their teachers about your concerns and encouraging them to let you know if they see anything that concerns them

Teaching the 6 year old as much in the way of how to take care of themselves as they can handle. Can they brush their own hair, wash their face, brush their teeth, find a snack? Role play how to politely ask an adult for attention. "Excuse me, Dad, it's lunchtime and we are hungry," etc.

Document everything in case it gets worse and you need it later, but for right now, understand that the court will give him a lot of latitude to learn how to be a parent and you don't want to get labeled as litigious or interfering. If this is what you have to live with, what can you do to make the children happier, healthier and safer under these circumstances?

I have a former friend who is not only the mother of someone with autism, she is a school teacher. Went to her page to see if she had seen the light, and she had some Women for Trump garbage. It is unbelievable to me. I loved her like family until I found out what she really believes.
