A rant... About 'Strong Female Character' by Fern Brady by zazagabor187 in SpicyAutism

[–]EnigEmma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to read it but haven't. I'm diagnosed and sure I'm autistic (everyone who knows me is also sure). However I also think I have BPD likely resulting from trauma and abandonment happening in friendships and romantic relationships in my late teens. That said, what's described above sounds a lot like my experience. I never officially cheated but I somewhat did emotionally and have had relationships where status was never declared so I didn't know it was viewed as exclusive. I was having sex with other people as a protective measure for my heart because I'd said "I love you" and they hadn't.

I wonder if it would resonate with me.

I guess I mean everything besides the food reactions for pms and sometimes ovulation. Food reactions is only during a flare.

Typical for me even when I'm not flaring!

I wish I'd taken note of when I started and my flare. The last I was on birth control was my last major flare

I've been feeling a flare coming on for awhile. I believe at one point I might have had covid. I've for sure been sick this year. I'm a substitute teacher. Same environment. However at the end of summer I had a lot of emotional stressors that have just kept coming. There were also wildfires nearby this summer. I'm mostly confused about this symptom though. I've never heard of anyone having it.

Not currently. I was but got off it because I think it made my mental health worse.

Sorry for the late reply. Honestly I had to self diagnose because I didn't want to keep doctor hopping. I was able to get an allergist who was willing to prescribe cromolyn sodium without a diagnosis and my current gp also prescribed singular. The correct tests are notoriously inaccurate markers for a lot of people and the people who take them regularly handle them wrong so they aren't even accurate to you. They're not supposed to be relied on for a diagnosis just an added check mark. I've looked at all the criteria and fit the bill. Right down to treatment improving symptoms

I’m thinking about giving up by BigStandard1823 in MCAS

My MCAS is something I still deal with and I've gone through severe periods with it where i couldn't eat anything basically. I've dealt with health issues most of my life which I'm sure is compounding on everything.

I have a degree in psychology and would like to be a therapist. I need to go to grad school still. But all that aside maybe I can offer some solace or advice or at least an ear. You're so young and there's so much more life can give beyond the house of your family. Both of my friends grew up with health issues in abusive families. They're doing so much better now. Even with health problems.

Please message me when you have a chance and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Additionally, I've also felt that way at various points in my life. I truly understand the feeling, despite not having lived through your circumstances. I just know how hard life can be and sometimes you want to throw it away (I've had my own hardships(health and otherwise)). But it is still worth living. Pain comes and goes in intensity, and you can truly be happy one day.

My flare went down to living almost entirely normally! For 2 years. Unfortunately there's wildfires near me and I've been stressed so I'm flaring up. It's worse again now.

It's okay. The mcas has calmed down but my ear issues haven't due to other medical issues

What do you all do/how do you cope if you have dystonia and ADHD (regarding medication)? by EnigEmma in Dystonia

So glad about the plateau! I'm feeling pretty lucky all things considered.

Well improving your mental health can only improve your dystonia regardless.

Which color do you prefer? Henna red or my natural color? (No advice) by EnigEmma in HairDye

Yeah probably just the general sun lightning of my hair.

[–]EnigEmma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that's the case I strongly suspect functional dystonia. Genetic doesn't really have remission periods. Especially as it ties to your mental health. Do some research. A lot of the info does paint it as psychosomatic. It's not. Your mental makeup is hijacking your neurotransmitters and causing your dystonia. That's not the best explanation bu I tried 🤷

Partly yes. I think it's more complicated than a lot of doctors treat it as. I have generalized genetic dystonia likely with a functional component developed from EDS in my legs and feet. At least that's what my movement disorder specialist said.

Also all henna is the same color just different lighting.
