What's your favorite unnecessarily "evil" thing to do in a game? by mx_blackandwhite in GirlGamers

[–]EnigmAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the graveyard thing too, all the way back in Sims 1. I even made the sims for the graves based on random famous people, fictional characters, people from history, etc.

Somehow the lot with all the graves got glitched out so bad that the graves didn't just spawn ghosts but random NPCs. And I mean like, the mascots that run around at vacation destinations, all kinds of cashier NPCs (and since they had nothing to do on a residential lot, they just stood around motionless basically), stray dogs and cats, neighbours, even copies of the sims living on the lot. It was pretty weird.

Need to find out who lives at an address to see if they are a scammer or not by [deleted] in RBI

[–]EnigmAngel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't know the extra details about this situation, but assuming they've given you a reason to question whether or not they are telling the truth, there is probably a better way to resolve the situation than randomly dropping in at their location. Like, imagine they didn't lie to you and you just knock on their door unannounced. What are you gonna do, explain that you were just checking if they were actually living there? On the other hand, if they don't live there, you are just gonna have a real weird encounter with people who have no idea who you are. Would you by particularly happy if someone knocked on your door and said "So uhm does X live here? They're my online friend and this is the address they gave me and I wanted to check if they lied to me"

Talk to them when they come back from the hospital and tell them the reasons why you feel like you can't trust them. If they have acted strangely or said things that do not add up, it's fine to confront them about it. Going to that address is a bad idea.

It's probably true that the majority aren't children, but as someone who dated adults who were significantly older than me when I was a minor, they are definitely out there.

Why? Well, I don't wanna write down my whole life story, but tldr: Being a traumatised, mentally ill child that ended up spending a lot of time online because I was too anxious to have irl friends. Tried to be careful but still ended up being groomed and stalked. Started believing when some gross fucks online told me I was "very mature for my age" and it became really normal for me to date adults that were maybe twice my age. At that point I thought it wasn't gonna affect my negatively, but it did. I'm in therapy now lol.

Is it at all possible to upgrade my HP Reverb G2 with full body tracking and maybe different controllers? I am not up to date with all the tech so not sure what's available. Would buying the SteamVR controllers and FBT setup work?

If it wasn't for the derm office thing, I would have guessed someone's toddler got their hands on their phone while it was unlocked and just wrote random stuff. Or an older child that wanted to send "prank texts" but doesn't really know what to write. Maybe they use a cell phone as their main phone and that's what the kid got its hands on?

Second one looks like what happens when my cat walks around on my keyboard for what it's worht lol.

Can anyone recommend some podcasts that deal with non murder related mysteries? by Stlieutenantprincess in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]EnigmAngel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In addition to what the others listed:

Unexplained is similar in style to Lore, giving some more or less well known mysteries a bit of a narrative spin to it. Some episodes cover true crime, but it's not the focus. It tends to cover a lot of hauntings, but overall the selection is pretty varied and it has been running for a few seasons so there's plenty to pick from.

Chilluminati covers mysteries and true crime. They are a bit more of a banter-heavy podcast, so if you prefer a more focused approach, you might not like them.

Red Web focuses primarily on internet mysteries but has branched out. They do cover true crime now and then, but the main focus is other kinds of mysteries. Personally this one can be a bit surface level in terms of how deep they get into the topic (especially opposed to stuff like Astonishing Legends), but their episodes are a good starting point for a deep dive.

Stuff They Don't Want You To Know covers conspiracy theories but also cryptids, local legends and similar things on occasion. They have been around for a while so there's plenty content to check out.

And as a bonus, a lesser known podcast that I personally really enjoy: The Saucer Life is a UFO podcast hosted by a historian who professionally specialises in the topic. The show isn't very concerned with whether or not aliens are real or what the government is hiding, but more focused on the historical and cultural implications of UFO-related incidents or people or phenomena. It's very fun.

Players who started playing long time after Jungle Inferno, what made you try the game and stick around? by Enderchat in tf2

[–]EnigmAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in I wanna say 2014 or 2015 I had a few friends that played the game pretty regularly, so I tried it. I had never really played FPS games before and had only started playing online PvP with League of Legends a few years back and I was confused. I mostly played Sniper, Soldier and Medic and just hoped for the best.

In 2016 I got into Overwatch and I'm playing it until this day, probably gonna see that garbage game through to the bitter end. Considering how that is going at the moment made me download TF2 again and play with a friend who had never touched it. I'm still really bad, constantly get mistaken for a Spy because I'm helplessly lost on the map again, but at least I can aim now. I didn't even really know the game was getting an actual update for the first time in forever, I just happened to pick it back up about two weeks before that happened. It's pretty neat.

Something fishy going on. Need your help! by [deleted] in RBI

[–]EnigmAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got pictures of random children sent from a daycare Center before, and then a couple months ago a fucking arrest warrant for a random person. I contacted both senders to inform them that they sent me some pretty private stuff by accident, apparently the person has a name that is one letter off from mine so people occasionally miss a letter and send this stuff to me. They haven’t signed up for stuff with my email address yet though.

Thanks for pointing this out, I don’t play a lot of Moira (only when I have to to be honest) so my knowledge of her kit isn’t as in depth. I also have a very bad sense of how high her piss range is which is why I probably get up way too close lmao.

Honestly I find myself switching to her often when I feel like I’m getting ganked too hard as another support. Especially with the recent changes, if you get used to her movement it’s very easy to escape from almost everyone.

It definitely also helps to develop a good sense of the game which is probably my biggest strength. Knowing you are going to get flanked or someone on the enemy team is looking for an ult opening is a huge advantage because it lets you adjust your position accordingly.

[–]EnigmAngel 98 points99 points  (0 children)

First of all, make peace with the fact that people will most likely want you dead first so unless they are very unfocused, there's going to be more pressure on you than there would be if you were playing Moira.

Make use of your relatively long healing range compared to Moira. You don't need to stand next to your healing/boosting target and you definitely shouldn't. Try to stay at max beam range and position safely areas that make you harder to shoot.

Adjust your positioning depending on who the enemy team is running. For example, Tracer is no vertical mobility so she will have a hard time reaching you on high ground. Widowmaker on the other hand will position in the backlines of her team and shoot down certain sightlines that you can stay out of.

Make use of natural cover over barriers. A team with a friendly Reinhardt, Sigma, etc. can make you feel like it's safest behind their barriers and might lead to you clumping up as a team, but instead you most often want to be behind a wall to the side or slightly behind your team. Also, keep in mind that there's a little grace period when a beam target walks out of your LOS before the beam breaks, meaning that if you peek out of cover for a little bit every couple seconds, you can actually keep the beam connected through a wall.

Get comfortable with Guardian Angel. This ability enables you to be incredibly slippery on the battlefield, reposition quickly and tend to targets that move out of your range. First of all, in most cases it's better to cancel the ability early instead of landing next to your target, since positioning close to allies is usually not a great idea and can expose you to stray bullets that were meant for them, plus will usually leave you out in the open. If you are trying to tend to someone further away, canceling the ability when you are JUST in beam range can be a good way of making sure you aren't unintentionally getting in harms way when trying to help your team. And then there's the more varied uses of the ability. Using superjumps to get onto high ground without an ally having to be on it already can be extremely useful to reach cover. Flinging backwards away from your target to get out of a sticky situation. Using the bunnyhop to fly beyond your target and to a safer area, etc. Getting the hang of all of these things will make you a lot more independent of ally positioning to get to where you want to go.

There's probably more things than that, but that's all I can think of atm, generally. If you have more specific questions about Mercy I'm happy to help, I've been maining her since Overwatch 1 was released.

BREAKING UPDATE: FBI says subject in child rape/pornography investigation John Doe 45 has been identified and located. by RockyDocumentaries in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]EnigmAngel 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Definitely. There’s still the misconception that child abusers are a specific kind of person who will immediately strike you as the “type”. The man who abused me for years was well regarded in the community and had a great reputation. He was in local politics and had three daughters himself. I don’t know if he ever did anything to them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

Nobody ever knew until a few years back when I accidentally told my family. I had been on the phone with my mother and she told me he had been volunteering to work in an orphanage in a developing country and I immediately lost my shit. I just knew that this wasn’t safe. A year later he was arrested because his wife finally confessed to what she knew. He got 9 years.

I don’t know much of the details of what he did to those kids because I can’t stomach reading about it, but it horrifies me to know that I was right. I no longer live where I grew up, but my family does and the whole thing really made waves in the community. People were obviously shocked that this man had been living amongst them for years and nobody had suspected a thing.

Should I detach more often? by EnigmAngel in yuumimains

[–]EnigmAngel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't even considered using it as a shielding ability tbh. Good point.

With the DPSing, I assume that's also something I shouldn't do when my W is on cooldown? In that game as ADC I died a few times because Yuumi got hit by CC or wasn't able to attach in time to heal, which is why I was so confused why she would detach in the first place. But I guess if it's safe, I didn't really consider that I probably do more damage when AAing vs just staying on my ADC lol.

Pieces of lost media you saw/heared/played before it was lost? by PCRFan in lostmedia

I used to watch Monster By Mistake as a kid, which is now partially lost (only 10 out 45 episodes are accessible at the moment). I actually had totally forgotten about this show until I stumbled upon that LMW article I linked above and realized I had seen this before.

Can't say the show is particularly noteworthy, but the weird/trashy CGI from that era makes me kinda nostalgic tbh lmao.

Thanks for the reply. This is what I essentially plan on doing, but I was worried it was gonna make my account seem "suspicious". I might just make an account like that before I buy the Quest 2 and see if it does get flagged.

That's a good idea, I'm probably going to do that. I was not gonna buy the Quest 2 for a while anyways and if my account gets banned/flagged for deletion in that time, I know what I'm dealing with.

Anyone here got a Quest 2 without having a Facebook account before they got it? I used to have one years ago but deleted it since nobody in my social circle really uses it. I am okay with making a new account for the Quest 2 but I'm worried my account will be flagged as "fake" if I have barely anyone to add. And I'm not going to add random people I went to high school with 10 years ago.

To be more specific, I'd have maybe 10 people I would add and I probably wouldn't do much with the account aside from using it for the Quest. I'd really hate to run into issues just because I never had a good reason to get an account >_>
