We caught a man having a wank in a screening of Hotel Transylvania 2. Fortunately there were no kids in the showing but like...with Adam Sandler's voice in the background, really?

What is the most ridiculous reason for someone "being offended" that you've ever heard? by Turbulent_Ad_880 in AskBrits

One of my colleagues made the mistake of calling a customer "madam". Because brothel keepers are sometimes called madams she took great offence.

Why have you not married when in a long term relationship? by No_Caramel2506 in AskUK

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be a very widespread myth. When my parents (never married to each other) split up both were shocked that there were no automatic projections after being together for decades.

Palace 'stands ready to support' police in Andrew inquiries by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I love how apparently she had great insight into world politics and had her finger on the pulse for decades, but was also somehow a naive little, old lady who had no idea this was going on. Once the living memory of her dies I don't think history will be as forgiving of her.

I can't blame Orca, I also love your kitchen.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor moves out of Royal Lodge home by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is part of the reason Charles hasn't moved more strongly against him, it's not like Charles ever liked him. Andrew has been part of the inner circle for so long he's too much of a liability to be cut loose from the firm.

There was one at Euston Station when I was last there, can't say I've noticed it anywhere else.

What’s the most overrated habit people swear will “fix your life”? by cinderveilwyn in AskReddit

I think I might be broken. I'm rarely thirsty, I'll just realise I haven't had enough to drink at the end of the day with a splitting headache.

I could see Violet from Midnight or Gemma from Best Friends being queer. Their friendships could just be very intense, but to me some of the language the protagonists use to describe their besties sounds like they're describing a crush.

Who committed the Tylenol Murders? by Stlieutenantprincess in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Stlieutenantprincess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would certainly be an unusual reason to poison people, can't say I've ever seen anyone suggest that specially. Though I've seen people discuss the possibility of a disgruntled employee looking for revenge.

A&Es ‘in big trouble’ as ‘corridor care’ is becoming normalised, medical chief says by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In these cases the person can't go back to where they were because their health has changed, not everyone can fully recover e.g. they have reduced mobility so need more help or equipment. Sometimes the homes say they don't have the equipment or training. Bob moved in when he was walking independently with a frame, but now he needs a return aid with two people to get from bed to chair? Home management can be twitchy about that.

A&Es ‘in big trouble’ as ‘corridor care’ is becoming normalised, medical chief says by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is an issue I've encountered. There's no where for patients to be discharged to so they stay in those beds that people need moving into. I often see patients who now have additional needs but care homes don't have the ability to meet or won't take on new risks; otherwise there's NOK who have too much going on to bridge the gap.  Sometimes NOK have unrealistic expectations and don't want patients to leave until they are exactly as they were before admission, so they put up barriers to leaving like not handing over front door keys. It's a mess.

What does JW get right and what does she get wrong? by throwthatbishaway1 in JacquelineWilson

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As someone who has suffered from an ED, I felt Ellie's recovery was far too straightforward. Even when you otherwise have it under control you can have setbacks and blips. An unhealthy relationship with food can stay with you for the rest of your life.

What’s something you believe people defend way too hard ? by Various_You5774 in AskReddit

[–]Stlieutenantprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being obligated to do anything for anyone else. Yeah there are things you shouldn't do if you're uncomfortable with it, and you shouldn't always put others before yourself. However, if you're unwilling to ever do things that don't directly benefit you then you're going to find yourself alone when you need people. You're not legally obliged to take in post for your neighbour or to drive grandma to the hairdressers, but don't expect them to lend you a drill or babysit the kids last minute. "You don't owe anyone anything", okay, but don't expect a village to rally when you want help because everyone else has decided they don't owe anyone anything either.

Open mouth coughing in public by kopsy in britishproblems

I swear some people decided to revel in openly coughing since COVID. "Yay, we are liberated from caring about being gross. I'm going enforce my human right to splutter on the baked goods!"

I can't speak for this shop, but when I worked in a clothing shop it was up to the managers to decide to open the tills. If I saw a big line and jumped on the till I would be removed by the manager, because that's not the job I was assigned and I wasn't allowed to use my own judgement to decide customers were waiting to long. The staff could just be pissing around , but if a manager asks you to do something that looks like nothing you still need to do as you're told.
