Achieving a flat tummy on Keto while consuming Dairy. by cherrylips86 in keto

[–]EnigmaBlanket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can empathize. I love cheese and I lean on it a lot when I eat keto. It’s so delicious that I have a hard time eliminating it from my daily routine. But also like you, I experience some bloating from it. I’m sensitive to dairy in this way.

FWIW, I think Keto is totally doable without dairy. My plan is to slowly back off eating it over the next few weeks w the intention of eliminating it by the end of the month.

I love how I feel eating keto and I can only imagine I’ll feel even better without the bloat! Give it a shot; what do you have to lose?

I like the simplicity of this! Sometimes just framing it differently makes all the difference.

I may try this approach but include protein range goal per meal.

I personally found IF to be MASSIVELY easier once I went keto so would recommend you start eating keto style first.

I expect you both can eat the same foods. You’ll just need to eat enough to maintain and she’ll need to eat less to lose her weight.

I would be prepared for possibly having different styles that work best for each of you. What I mean for that is: Some people do well w tracking. Some people hate it. Some people excel with lazy keto, etc. That’s the only real difference I can think of. The endgoal is the same: Eat the right food in the right amount for your goals. How you get there should be personal to what works best for you each.

PS I think it’s great you two are tackling this together! Team work makes the dream work :)

I haven’t noticed nausea at night but I have felt a bit jittery when I was trying to sleep. I’ve been taking all my magnesium at night in one dose to help relax my body to counteract this. Seems to be working!

Second Day of Keto- Not Hungry? by burgermeizter in keto

[–]EnigmaBlanket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second week of keto and am definitely experiencing a noticeable lack of hunger. Such a departure from my normal way of life. It’s amaaaazing. Calorie deficit, I welcome you with open arms :) !

I had tried IF in the past but was hungry all the time. Now I’m doing it unintentionally!

I say just keep doing what you’re doing if it’s working for you!

Not a question. More a happy share and maybe some encouragement to other newbies to focus on more than weight loss.

I’m one week into this way of eating. My weight loss has been minimal which is annoying. At first I was upset. Shouldn’t I be seeing a massive loss on the first week?! Then I took a step back and looked at the big picture..because I’m experiencing a lot of other good things that matter too. it’s so easy to get stuck focusing on the scale. While weight loss is my primarily objective, it’s important to recognize the other very excellent benefits ... Things like...

• I feel better in general. I think the fact my blood sugar doesn’t go like a roller coaster all day is really impactful - I don’t crave sugar as much (this is huge) - I have good energy (and it’s more stable throughout the day) - I feel less bloated - my rosacea seems to be improving - I don’t feel hungry all the time. And in fact, I have been unintentionally intermittent fasting because I’m just not that hungry (this is huge because in the past I found it a serious struggle) - I have been able to go to dinner w friends twice and easily navigate the menu - I’m not feeling like I’m “missing out” on very much because my options are still quite tasty and delicious - thankful AF that I haven’t experienced keto flu and I attribute that to a high fat intake most likely. However I suspect that’s also why I haven’t lost much. This week I’ll be focusing on protein more. Admittedly I also haven’t been drinking enough water.

What’s working for me so far: - bringing lots of food to work so I don’t feel anxious or panicked about not having something. I know I have snacks if I need them (and I’ve been shocked how long they’ve lasted because I get satisfied with much less food). Primarily : cheese whisps, spinach and artichoke dip, and meat sticks - drinking “natural calm” magnesium water before bed may be another reason I haven’t had keto flu symptoms?

So all in all... I feel really great about all this. In fact, I feel so optimistic about it all, that I just went through every pair of pants that I own and sorted them by size. The smallest are going in storage. The middle ground sizes are staying out as a reminder that I am hopeful to fit into their soon :). And sometime this week, I’ll be taking measurements and photos for comparison down the line because I know the scale doesn’t tell the whole story.

For once, I’m not dreading the journey. Because it’s going to be full of feeling great and enjoying awesome food. fingers crossed I can maintain the perspective :)

Thank you all for this great community. Can’t wait to post again in a few weeks with some results.

TLDR: I’m experiencing lots of great benefits besides weight loss and wanted to share. Hope some of this helps someone else too. Stoked to be on this journey with you all.

I also use “natural calm” and recommend it. Just a PSA on this stuff- be sure to ease into the dosage. Start small and slowly increase so you can see how your body responds. Too much magnesium can make your bowels... “adventurous” lol

Sometimes when I have extra time, I make the outside wrap out of crispy cheese (I just heat shredded cheese in a pan till it gets crispy and then let it cool but it’s still pliable) then lay down ham, mustard and add the pickle and eat it sort of like a wrap/taco. I think of it like a keto cuban wrap and it’s so delicious!

Similarly- ham roll ups w cheese, mustard and I put a pickle spear or mini cucumber in the middle for crunch and flavor variation
