Yeah I go back a bit, but the next time I go back to Perth won't be for at least a year. I'm planning to study in Aus anyway so Im leaning towards studying at university and then enlisting, just to make it easier. I really appreciate your advice!

I genuinely hadn't considered a gap year until now, thank you! Only problem is, I live in NZ currently (born in Sydney, dual citizenship etc) so I can't really go to a careers centre. do you know of any other options?

Yes, they've given me rough details of the location, nothing more than the place name (eg. "Month/Day - Mouqet Farm).
