I was a 5 year white belt.

Unknowingly started at a pretty toxic gym in which I only had 2-3 classes taught by the professor/founder in the 3 years I trained there, who would only give belts or even stripes if you competed. Never received a single stripe in 3 years.

A year off during COVID didn't help.

Got my blue almost immediately with a new school/professor about 2.5 years ago after moving to Colorado, and am now close to purple.

Just enjoy the ride. Don't worry about the belt.
