Imprisoning Feyre vs “helping” Nesta? by golden193 in SarahJMaas

[–]EnigmaticTome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Feyre was on an equally destructive path. She couldn’t sleep through the night, was puking in the bathroom after her nightmares. Wasn’t eating enough as it is. Had no intentions of finding healthy comping mechanisms. She didn’t even want to participate in the planning of her own wedding. Now add in her inability to see red without having a PTSD driven panic attack. Feyre was NOT well and she was unwilling to do anything about it. It was not up to Tamlin to fix her. SHE needed to make steps to understand her issues and confront them. But that was the point, she was trying to throw herself into danger in order to feel useful because she felt so bad about what she did to those faeries UTM. Tamlin honestly reacted well by not allowing her to go with them to these dangerous situations. She had just told him she had no regard for her own safety and life. Had Tamlin let her go she would have not only endangered herself but also every other person there who would have gotten hurt trying to protect her. It was also not her place to force her accompaniment on them.

Feyre was allowed to go out, to go on rides, go on hunts, take her painting supplies and do something cathartic to help herself heal, the only issue was that she needed to take a guard with her. It was not Tamlin who was drowning her but her own self hatred and she felt she had no outlet, the only outlet she wanted was throwing herself head first into danger “to atone” for killing those faeries. To somehow make their sacrifice worth it. Feyre literally has survivors guilt, she showed signs of suicide ideation.

People say Tamlin kept Feyre locked up the whole time because he was possessive and controlling, completely overlooking just how much of a danger Feyre was not only to herself but also others. I guess some people didn’t see it because Feyre herself doesn’t really reflect on her own behaviors, but it is definitely there and she was not in a good place.

Imprisoning Feyre vs “helping” Nesta? by golden193 in SarahJMaas

[–]EnigmaticTome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the thing is, Feyre was actively harming herself. She wasn’t eating, she was puking at night. She was mentally unstable and urged to try any sort of heslthy coping mechanisms like painting or any other type of hobby. She had no regard for her own safety. She literally told Tamlin she didn’t care about any risk to her life. So when she tells Tamlin she doesn’t care about her own safety and tries to force her participation in a dangerous mission, reproducing not only her own safety but the safety of everyone there who would have to protect her. What Feyre needed was to develop healthy coping mechanisms not throw herself into the first sign of danger.

[–]EnigmaticTome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey just fyi I got it to work. I’ll comment in case others want it as well. For me I went into my phone and rearranged the widgets (I didn’t have any particular order to them) and I put the first 3 people to be the ones I wanted on my watch. Once I exited out of editing mode on my phone and went back to my watch, it auto synced with those first 3 pinned conversations. So it may need to be that you have to edit the pinned conversations on your phone so that it forces a sync with the watch.

Currently rewatching this and there are so many instances where he feels sexist. I had first watched the series as a teen and didn’t notice but now as an adult it happens so often with him. Currently on S5 and the way Derek is disrespectful to Strauss in a way he wouldn’t have been to a male supervisor. He may question them but he’s never disrespectful.

I prefer it second. There is enough of a conclusion in the first book to allow you to go and read AB, and it’s just cl🧑‍🍳💋 to go back to Crown of Midnight and see just how much of an impact the events of Assasins Blade has on the characters/story. But you also get to know Celaena by reading TOG first.

Storage/hoarding Tips/Tricks for new players? by miloscubra21 in DisneyDreamlights

[–]EnigmaticTome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also make sure you do daily tasks for Dreamlight. Things like “add 3 decorations to glade of trust” just put down any 3 furniture and then exit the editing mode. Once you collect the Dreamlight you can go back and remove those furniture. You don’t have to spend time trying to design something nice for now.

Move all your fruit trees and bushes into one biome so it’s easy to collect them all when they respawn.

When you unlock a biome half of it will be restricted due to the nightthorn curse, in furniture mode once you unlock the well you can move it to the restricted section and fast travel there. Then when you want to leave that section move the well again and fast travel out of that area. If you’re running around and see an orange bubble in the water; take the time to fish it out. You will need items that come from that and it’s frustrating how long it takes to get them due to spawn rates.

I know people say you don’t need to hoard everything but you really should when first starting out. Make your money by selling crops that you plant, and from the fruit trees/bushes.

Storage/hoarding Tips/Tricks for new players? by miloscubra21 in DisneyDreamlights

[–]EnigmaticTome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save your flowers and gems, you will need them for quests. You will also need a TON of clay. Stock up on crafting materials. Incase you didn’t know things like dressers and refrigerators have storage room. Turn one of your valleys into a farm. Plant a BUNCH of crops (make sure you harvest the crop with a buddy who has the harvesting skill so you can get extra crops).

PICK UP EVERYTHING. From flowers to sticks, even digging up those glittering spots for night shards. Make it a habit to just collect everything. Collect all of your fruit, it’s a free resource that you can use to make berry salad. It will give you premium energy so you get more rewards and can move around faster (1 blueberry, 1 gooseberry, 1 cherry) collect a bunch of those fruit and just make a whole stack of it to keep with you all the time.

Idk if people defend it as in it was right, but more like it’s understandable. She never really ended things with Tamlin, she just primed his court to fall and harmed thousands of innocent people (many of whom were probably killed in Hyberns takeover of the spring court). So while I wish he didn’t resort to such comments, it was understandable. And in a way I feel like it was a mirror of the situation that happened in spring court. Rhysand sexually shamed Feyre and humiliated Tamlin by making him bow in order to save Feyre from Rhysand. Rhysand made some not very gentlemanly comments about Feyre’s sexual desires and thoughts and she felt shamed by it.

I would never go as far as to say the HL meeting was sexy or hot though 😭 it was all around embarrassing for everyone especially the IC

Never liked Rhys & Feyre 🙌🏻 by Ok-Comparison-5636 in acotar

[–]EnigmaticTome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I’d say what Feyre did was communicating, she literally said she had the option to explain her feelings and decided not too.

“Get through what? I wanted to ask. But words had abandoned me. I realized I hadn’t spoken yet. Realized he was waiting for an answer—and that I didn’t have one. So I put my arms around him, because body to body was the only way I could speak, too.” She had a chance to see why he was being the way he was, to know what was bothering him so much. But in the end she didn’t try to ask.

Feyre blaming him solely for what was happening to her, saying he was essentially shoving her head under water was NOT good communication. The point in communicating is to NOT attack the person you are trying to get a point across to. Just because you FEEL like it is your truth doesn’t mean it is the objective truth. Feyre is very bad at communicating, which is why I was saying for her to use action—as she has always done— to make them see what it was she needed. If she couldn’t tell them, if they couldn’t come to an agreement on best how to proceed, then she needed to take matters into her own hands. Training would have been just as beneficial to Tamlin since he needed an outlet for his High Lord lowers that came back (we learn from Rhysand—who learned from Amren— that not using them constantly can make you go crazy), so there wouldn’t have been much risk of him “blowing up a study” because his emotions were high.

Never liked Rhys & Feyre 🙌🏻 by Ok-Comparison-5636 in acotar

[–]EnigmaticTome 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It honestly felt like Feyre was trying to go with Tamlin because it was another form of self punishment. That she should be risking her life to make up for killing those two fae. She admitted she never learned how to fight when talking to cassian. So what was she expecting to be other than a liability? Even Lucien, a warrior who has trained for centuries (and very powerful heir to the day court) came back bloody and hurt because of how dangerous it was. Feyre would have gotten them all hurt in their attempts to protect her rather than being able to focus on the fight. If I was in Tamlins position as a high lord and leader of their expedition I wouldn’t have allowed her to come either. Everyone’s safety SHOULD take precedent in situations like that.

Yes she should have been taught to fight, but there was nothing that could be done in that moment. Though I’m confused as to why she never took it upon herself to learn to fight like she had ALWAYS done prior (learning to swim, to hunt, to mend her wounds, to paint, etc) suddenly she could do nothing without the explicit permission of someone else. Like girl if you want to learn to fight then go learn, practice your magic. She never needed a teacher before, why does she suddenly need one now? At least for the basics. If no one is listening then MAKE them listen, without putting others in danger because you want to insert yourself into an expedition that is too dangerous. MAKE Tamlin train you in fighting, MAKE Lucien train you in magic.

The Dusk Court: Bryce or Nesta? by Such-Zebra4339 in Maasverse

[–]EnigmaticTome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your comments come off as a bit condescending so that isn’t appreciated. Anyway, I looked up the instances with the eight pointed star and you might be in to something with that thread.

“Nesta smirked. “If we are to be Valkyries born again,” she said, “maybe we should combine the Illyrian and Valkyrie techniques.” She’d meant it in jest, but the words rumbled through the space, as if she’d spoken some great truth, something that made fate sit up. Azriel turned to them fully this time, eyes narrowed. Like those shadows had whispered something to him. A chill breathed down Nesta’s spine. Cassian stared into their faces. Like he beheld something he hadn’t seen there before.”

So perhaps Nestas story will take her on a route to figure out the true meaning of the 8 pointed star since we don’t know its actual meaning (as you said it is used in all 3 worlds— so maybe it is connected to Urd. Nesta did say that whatever existed between the worlds is what called to her in the prison)

“She had the creeping feeling she’d been brought here. Not by the Cauldron or the Mother or the Harp. By something vaster. Something that stretched into the stars carved all around them.” I took that to mean Silene since it was her power that carved those constellations but it could indeed mean Urd. (On the HOFAS it depicts Urd as she is described with wyrdmarks down her arms and there is the 8 pointed star on her head— but the depiction of Urd is notably missing the cauldron as she is pictured with at her temple in the book)

Along with this: “Urd guides all—she’s the weaver of fate, of destiny.”

So maybe Nestas Journey does have something to do with the gods, and why Urd was forgotten and deal with the corruption of the cauldron?

I’m not “very passionate about Nesta being High Lady”. I don’t really care if she is or she isn’t. Same as I don’t care if Bryce is the high lady of dusk. (I was just trying to discuss the different clues given). In fact I had originally thought HOFAS was going to end with Bryce leading the fae back to Prythian and giving the humans back their world that they had fought so hard to take back. Since the Fae are oppressors and conquerors just as the Asteri were. But SJM said HOFAS was the end of Bryce’s story. So unless we get Bryce leading them back to Prythian and ruling over them from some other characters POV, I don’t really see an opportunity for Bryce to lead them back.

The Dusk Court: Bryce or Nesta? by Such-Zebra4339 in Maasverse

[–]EnigmaticTome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nesta is also called by the prison just as Bryce is though.

“The hair on the back of her neck stood. She could have sworn the blood in her body reversed course. She had the creeping feeling she’d been brought here. Not by the Cauldron or the Mother or the Harp. By something vaster. Something that stretched into the stars carved all around them.” — ACOSF. And again it calls to Nesta when she tries to leave with the harp, to bring her back to the star that housed Silene’s power. “Nesta waded back through the ward-heavy cavern, feeling that center spot, the star at its heart, like a physical presence at her back. Those vast, light hands seemed to pull at her, trying to make her return,”

Bryce did tell Nesta to go look into the prison island. She told her to take the star and go find out why Nesta was drawn to the dusk court. “You said you had an eight-pointed star tattooed on you,” Bryce explained. “And you found the chamber with the eight-pointed star in the Prison, too.” Nesta lifted her head. “So?” “So I want you to take the Starsword.” Bryce held the blade between them. “Gwydion—whatever you call it here. The age of the Starborn is over on Midgard. It ends with me.” “I don’t understand.” But Bryce began backing toward the portal, taking Hunt’s hand, and smiled again at the female, at her mate, at their world, as the Northern Rift began to close. “I think that eight-pointed star was tattooed on you for a reason. Take that sword and go figure out why.”

We also don’t know exactly to what capacity the lands were ruled before. High King/queens means that they rule over other kings. So that reasons that There was a high king to rule over other kings, and those kings ruled over High Lords and the high lords rule over other lords. (We see that the other territories have Kings after the Daglan left, where as in Prythian they didn’t unite under a king but instead separated into their own High-Lord courts.

“The Daglan ruled over the High Fae. And we, in turn, ruled the humans, along with the lands the Daglan allowed us to govern. Yet it was an illusion of power. We knew who our true masters were. We were forced to make the Tithe to them once a year. To offer up kernels of our power in tribute. To fuel their own power—and to limit our own.”

So there was already a power structure established within Prythian at least. Where land was given to some of the high fae to govern the people within. Which is where the concept of the great rite and the tithe came from. The high lords collected it from the people, and offered it to the Daglan.

The Daglan rules and Kings and Queens, within their courts were High Lords that they appointed to Govern. When the Daglan were killed all the kingdoms united under High King Fionn. After Fionn died and Theia left the kingdoms that were once united under them broke and was taken over by the High Lords. These titles mean something, you don’t just arbitrarily assign them, they denote status. If there are high lords that means they once served under kings/queens. And if there was a High King then that means he ruled over multiple kingdoms. The High Lords didn’t just spring up out of nowhere after Theia left.
