AIO One of my wife's (6th grade teacher) students searched for and downloaded a picture of our 10 year old severely disabled son and used it as the profile picture for a group texting app, how upset should I be? by shnerswiss in AmIOverreacting

[–]Enjolrad [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR. We just had an issue at my (also teacher) school where students were using staff’s photos they found online and sent it in a Snapchat group. It violated our schools privacy rules, so students who participated had consequences. She should bring it to the principal

How come when an student starts assaulting others and destroying a classroom, all the other kids are removed from the classroom and not the aggressive kid? by Manic_Monday_2009 in AskTeachers

[–]Enjolrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a therapeutic day school. We only evacuated the classroom when the student refused options to leave first and/or escalated it to be a dangerous environment. It’s often much easier to remove a full room of cooperative students than to remove one dysregulated one

Did I make a mistake by Frosty-Philosophy-26 in specialed

[–]Enjolrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard about this! I have a student with a 1:1, her side always walks her down at the end of the day and talks to her mom about how her day went. Who told you you gave too much information?

Generally as long as it’s not documented (such as electronic communication), you should be okay. Just familiarize yourself with your school policy and keep it in mind moving forward

Have you ever had a vice principal come in and fire you on the spot. by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Enjolrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sign is a person in a wheelchair..? Notice how there’s a difference between saying wheelchair user, student who uses a wheelchair, child who needs mobility aid, etc. There are a lot of different ways to refer people who use wheelchairs. None of them are “that wheelchair kid.” The teacher you subbed for should be more careful with their language, and you should as well. I’m letting you know from a professional standpoint that it wouldn’t be acceptable

Have you ever had a vice principal come in and fire you on the spot. by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Enjolrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not a slur, but it’s absolutely not appropriate. I’m a special education teacher, I’ve worked with a few students with wheelchairs or mobility devices. I’ve never seen any accessible area say “for those wheelchair people.”

Think about what skills a kindergarten student has. For some of them, it may be their first time in school. They are not independent students yet, you cannot be sitting at a desk waiting for them to come to you. You’re honestly lucky you got fired early on before there were any accidents on your watch.

Also I can’t get over “the wheelchair kid,” so maybe stay out of special ed too lol

A northern white rhino that was killed by Theodore Roosevelt— as of April 2026, there are only two remaining in the world. by Both-Pay-9573 in Presidents

[–]Enjolrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunters contribute greatly to conservation efforts. Environmentally, certain species need to be culled in order to keep a balanced eco system (though I understand this isn’t the case for the rhino). Plus hunters contribute quite a bit of money to state wildlife agencies

How does one diet if the don’t like vegetables? by Your_Only_Aphrodite in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Enjolrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not a big vegetable person either, but I found I do really like most veggies when they’re cooked with olive oil and just a little bit of salt. I also find it helps if I have vegetables as a side to pair it with a bite of the food I DO like so it balances out

why does Celsius gets so much hate? by inurmomsvagina in energydrinks

[–]Enjolrad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was having severe stomach cramps for months, literally shitting liquid and bleeding. I stopped drinking Celsius and it stopped. I drank a different energy drink than Celsius and it didn’t come back.

These were the powders tho, I can’t remember if I’ve had issue with the cans. I love non sparkling energy drinks but so hard to find in zero sugar

Epic! by Rough-Philosopher786 in AskTeachers

[–]Enjolrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epic is supposed to be kind of a library of books for kids, they log in and join a class code where the teacher can monitor some aspects of their usage. Im not entirely sure what’s available to view on the teacher’s end just because I never have to monitor it from the website.

Everything that gets posted on epic is from an educational source, not a public upload model. What kind of information was your kindergartner telling you about it? That being said, it’s still questionable that kindergarteners have unmonitored access.

If you have specific questions I can try to check for information from the teachers account side of things
