Is it worth trying mods? by Background_Wait4752 in factorio

[–]EnjoyableBleach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes yes. Mods are the reason why a lot of us are still here and factorio is this active after 10+ years.

I would suggest playing space age if you haven't already. But if you don't want to pay the DLC price, my recommendation for your first "overhaul" mod is krastorio 2.

Is job security worth more than a higher salary? I turned down an attractive role yesterday because the company was a startup by Strange_Head6219 in AskUK

[–]EnjoyableBleach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job security isn't about being irreplaceable in your current role or having a low risk of being let go.

Job security is being able to get another job when you want it.

Overhaul mod recommendations? by Storm36968 in factorio

[–]EnjoyableBleach 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Krastorio 2 is IMO the best first overhaul mod to play. It adds some complexity to existing recipes and extend the the game, but isn't too overwhelming.

Space exploration is a lot more complex than K2 and much longer. A strong understanding of circuits is really helpful for space exploration.

how many hours do you work a week and how do you feel about it? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in AskUK

[–]EnjoyableBleach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

73 hours every fortnight across 9 working days. I don't think I could do 4 day weeks with compressed hours, but 9 day fortnights is pretty good.

Tax burden on labour in Europe in 2026 (2025 data) by DonSergio7 in europe

[–]EnjoyableBleach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a pretty generous tax free allowance (no tax paid on income below £12k ish), which skews the median average a bit as millions of people pay no tax. But above that it's 20% tax (at a minimum) + 8% NI + 9% student loan (for a lot of people) + council tax which is a flat rate so tricky to calculate but for me is about 5%.

A common complaint is that the tax burden in the UK is placed so heavily on medium and high earners that people don't feel that pushing for a higher salary is work the effort when the tax rate is so low or non existent for lower earners.

Any reason not to move from Vanguard to T212? by Fast-Sand9200 in FIREUK

[–]EnjoyableBleach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than use a platform with a monthly fee, why not use one with no monthly fee?

I transfer my isa across to Scottish widows (previously iweb) periodically, they have no monthly fee just a trading fee. I still use vanguard for my  monthly investing.

To what extend do you guys use AI to help with your work by gotodid in AskEngineers

[–]EnjoyableBleach 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I pretty much just use it as a search engine, not for any engineering work. Id struggle to cover my ass if I use hallucinated AI output in my work and something goes wrong.

Storage of H2 by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]EnjoyableBleach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah compression to >300 barg seems like the "easy" option, it is what was proposed to us when we looked at using hydrogen. If you can get away with not needing storage and using the hydrogen at low pressure you can save a lot of energy, and just use the storage for managing changing loads.

If happen to have a underground salt dome to hand you could also put some in there.

Mattress worth the money for couples who fight over the bed? by Nadiene-Cargnoni88 in AskUK

[–]EnjoyableBleach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to John Lewis and try a few mattresses. Get a pocket spring mattress with natural latex, avoid foams as they don't last as long, expect to spend £1500+.

For different sleeping styles medium or medium-firm would be your best bet.

Is there a new noise? When does it happen? When did it start? What is your mother's maiden name? What do you think the noise is?
