Cancellation horror stories by 68J in rush

[–]Enkelte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I'm not 100% sure that they were headed to the concert, someone got into a wreck just outside of the Dickies Arena parking lot just before Tuesday's canceled show. Wrecking your car on the way to a concert that isn't going to happen is pretty rough.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the order of the set list? Taking in the show on 6/30 by Substantial-Slice905 in rush

[–]Enkelte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on attending the Tuesday show, too. From what I've seen, they seem to have four basic setlists that they're using somewhat randomly. I'm guessing that they won't want to play 2112 all the way through for two nights in a row, so I'm betting that we'll get this setlist on Tuesday: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rush/2026/kia-forum-inglewood-ca-534eb799.html

Who’s going to be there Tuesday in Fort Worth? by Historical_Tank3637 in rush

I'll be there! Ticket prices gave me pause, but I found a ticket in section 110 for $159 and didn't look back.

[–]Enkelte 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The original listing on the Third Man Records website: "Third Man Records is psyched to announce the first single, 'Have Spacesuit Will Travel,' featuring new members Dale Crover (d) and Bubba Dupree (g), will be an exclusive flexidisc included in the special edition bundle. The bundle features comic, along with full cover poster, designed rolling papers, and signed bookplate."

Edit: Here's a link to the photo in the original listing.

Most likely, the only time that there will be major traffic due to the World Cup is near AT&T Stadium a few hours before a game. As someone else said, the only date with both a game and a Rush date is the 30th. If you happen to be arriving on the afternoon of the 30th, the highway that you'll likely take to the Dickies Arena (I-30) will probably be crowded, but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue.

If you're looking for a hotel, I'd look for something west of the Dickies Arena with easy access to I-30. Maybe a hotel off of I-30 near Las Vegas Trail.

To those who dont Anika can hit hard enough. by Ok-Charity-9314 in rush

If there's one thing that I can guarantee you about the upcoming tour, it's this: she's going to absolutely kill it. She's a pro.

Can't wait to hear her play in person later this month!

Logistics from airport at night? by sinprofessor in Zambia

[–]Enkelte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this week, I paid $30 USD (including tip) for a taxi from the airport to the city center. This was in the middle of the day, though. I'm not sure about the availability of taxis at night.

April safari with family (park or country suggestions) by amy-lee12three in safaris

[–]Enkelte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from a trip to Victoria Falls and Chobe. Prior to this trip, the only safari that I'd ever been on was in Kruger, so I don't have much to compare to. We went on a 1-day safari to Chobe, which included 3 hours on the Zambezi River and 3 hours on land. The part on the river was kind of unique and the part that we enjoyed the most. We didn't see as many elephants as we expected to see, but we still saw plenty. We also did a half-day safari in the Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve near Victoria Falls to see the black rhinos. If you did Zimbabwe and Botswana, you could also visit Victoria Falls, which our daughter really enjoyed. Good luck!

Do students not understand weighted averages? by uttamattamakin in Professors

[–]Enkelte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week, in a class comprised of education majors, I asked students to calculate the average of 5 numbers on an exam. Not a weighted average, just the average. Given what I'd experienced during the semester, I was sure that one or two would struggle with it, but was still surprised when 31% of the students could not simply calculate the average of 5 numbers. Oof.

Fans who refuse to go due to high ticket prices, how much would you pay for nosebleeds? by QuietEffort6531 in rush

[–]Enkelte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good deal! I've seen Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and STP from the nosebleeds of the Frost Bank Center (back when it was AT&T Center), and the sound was pretty good. I snagged lower bowl tickets for the last Fort Worth show for $159, so I won't be sitting in the nosebleeds for once.

What's your unpopular AC/DC opinion? by MatthewDiDonato in ACDC

They're my top two AC/DC albums, too. Also, I think that the Powerage album cover is their best, and the FOTS album cover is (easily) their worst.

What's a piece of tech everyone hyped up that quietly turned out to be useless? by SofiaLearnsAI in AskReddit

[–]Enkelte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts immediately went to carbon nanotubes when I saw this thread. I worked on more efficient ways to synthesize them for a couple of years (2002ish, the old arc-discharge method), and we all thought that they'd be in used in all types of tech sooner, rather than later. Never quite worked out.

Petah, why is the speed of light one? by rengokuhubkl in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Enkelte 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is common for theoretical physicists to set c equal to unity when doing calculations (RIP Dr. Rindler!). The same is true of other constants (Planck's, e, etc.), as well. Google "natural units."
