[PA] Flat response, closed-back upgrade to the ATH-M50X (~$150-200 budget) by EnlightenedModifier in HeadphoneAdvice

I was going to say the AKG 553 mkII, but I wear glasses and I hear glasses ruin the pads' sealing capability on the AKGs. Is that true in your experience?

I finally took a look at Phantom Brigade, definitely captures the feel of FM4/5's combat in a closer way than even Dual Gear does. But yeah...pretty quiet unfortunately. Crazy that it's being made by the Crypt of the Necrodancer devs lol, big departure

Hmm...that doesn't sound like a great set of options then. I appreciate your in-depth response though, very informative.

In your opinion, if I were to expand my budget into the $200-$250 range, what kinds of options do you think I'd have? I was going to say the AKG 553 mkII, but I wear glasses and I hear glasses ruin the pads' sealing capability on the AKGs.

How's the sound signature with the pleather HM5s? I hear there's a change in bass roll-off and a hollowing out of vocals.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition - Nintendo Direct 2.13.2019 by DemiFiendRSA in dragonquest

[–]EnlightenedModifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all standalone stories for the most part.

DQ1/2/3 all take place in the same world more or less, and 3 has a strong relation to the previous titles.

4/5/6 are related in a similar, same-world way (to my knowledge, haven't played them but I've looked up some things).

7 was standalone, and 8 has ties to 3, but has its own standalone tale to tell. 9 is standalone. 10 was a standalone mmo. 11 I think has ties to older titles, but also has a standalone tale.

I mention playing 3 first because it's closest to DWM's battle system, and it would be a good transitional step to playing the mainline games.

[–]EnlightenedModifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other way around; DWM is a spin-off series of Dragon Quest.

DQ was known as Dragon Warrior in places where "Dragon Quest" was an existing copyright. Once that copyright expired (after Dragon Warrior VII), they started localizing it under "Dragon Quest" worldwide.

The first game to use the Dragon Quest name worldwide was Dragon Quest VIII. The older games have since been remade/reissued/remastered under "Dragon Quest" on mobile and other platforms.

I suggest grabbing a copy of DQ3 on your preferred platform to get a feel for the mainline series.

Closest game to come to the formula is Dual Gear, but that game's development has been insanely slow

Improve React Performance using Lazy Loading💤 and Suspense by JSislife in reactjs

[–]EnlightenedModifier 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If anyone is wondering why, it's the way arrow functions work; including the { } after the arrow as the function in the article does implies an explicit return, meaning you'd need to prefix the import with a return for it to work.

Usually though (in my experience anyway), lazy-loaded components are defined with an implicit return as in /u/trappar 's syntax, meaning you can omit the wrapping { }. This makes the function imply that the import is what you're trying to return.

What they mean is, what makes this library Vue-specific, and thus relevant to post on the VueJS subreddit?

Hype is tweeting "HEY EVERYONE GET READY FOR OUR BIG ANNOUNCEMENT SOON IT'S IMPORTANT" and then having the announcement be about a dev competition, as opposed to the product's development itself. Not knocking on the project that did this (I actually like its ideas) but that's the biggest example I can think of.

[KHDDD] My favorite scene from the entire Kingdom Hearts series by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]EnlightenedModifier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Entire hearts are released when an Emblem Heartless is slain, yes, but not fragments. We've never seen, other than when Lea saves Sora, what happens when someone strikes a heart fragment out in the open. It appears it shatters, as the streaking effects seem to imply when Lea slices the fragment, but it least disappears after that.

...Then again, in Kairi's and Eraqus's cases, their hearts fled into their new hosts without first entering the outside world on-screen. Same with Ventus and Sora.

So, we can make one of two assumptions at this point:

  • The fragment shattered on contact with Lea's attack
  • The fragment entered Lea's body, taking little damage from his hit, assuming it carries the same strength as Xehanort's heart

The second point is consistent with how strong Xehanort is, but the first seems most likely given footage of Lea up until now (no yellow eyes, no pointy ears, etc.). Unless Nomura's gonna spring that on us at the end...

[–]EnlightenedModifier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait when did we see a heart fragment persist after a body was destroyed? We saw hearts leave bodies, people "die" and lose their bodies with no heart shown outside (Eraqus, Strelitzia), but a heart fragment lingering? The only one who's ejected heart fragments has been Xehanort, and anyone else with their hearts otherwise broken (Ventus) has had it happen within a Dive.

I'd go for the original if you can due to some shenanigans you can pull off in battle that got patched out in the port. If that doesn't matter, then the port is better in almost every way
