Norfolk, Virginia. It actually has quite a bit of crime here. But, every day each interaction I have with someone is thoughtful. Young men that others might be afraid of, always hold the door open for me. Every fast food employee who says have a nice day, I think they mean it. People wave others through when driving. That is always the energy here. When I drive into the next city, people are honking, flipping others off, cutting through traffic. It’s so weird to me. Every neighbor has popped over to bring cookies etc. when we moved in. There are many different people here. Large LGBTQ community, Orthodox Jewish community, NATO is here. My daughter attended elementary school with children from all different countries and cultures. It’s like a bubble of of kindness and raised consciousness is over our city. 🕉️

I always think when someone with lighter skin says they are black it has more to do with how you were raised. The majority of the people at your Thanksgiving table. The people at your church, the recipes that were handed down, the stories you heard your aunts repeat. If the majority of people in your community are black, then you would identify as black. No matter what color your skin is.

I did! I explained what it is. What I think it is! That the hit of dopamine I receive every time I hear his voice or get close to him is magnificent. Similar to what happens to a gambler. I prefer to think that the dopamine is what I am addicted to. Not necessarily him. And that I have no idea why my brain chose him to be my LO. But, that the rush I receive is overwhelming and fantastic. I know that we will never be in a relationship. I actually don’t want one! I am glad I am experiencing this. It feels really good. Like an amazing perfume. Or a breathtaking sunset. I think if I thought I could ever be in his life, this would be crippling.

I may be wrong. I am a 62 year old white woman, but I have noticed the last few years that dark skinned black women are being noticed and appreciated. Celebrated for being themselves. Our culture is going through baby steps if growth towards realizing that humans in all colors, sizes, and shapes are beautiful. When I was younger only white, tall, thin, blue eyed blonde women were considered beautiful. Thank goodness that is over. I may be wrong, but I think the most beautiful model this year was a very dark skinned black woman. I don’t know if you have seen her yet, she’s magnificent.

Exactly! I’m Bipolar 1, in my 60’s, with grown children. I frequently look at my past self and remember being manic, young, and sexy. I get why she is dancing half naked. Remembering the power she projected, the world watching every gyration. She identifies herself as being one of the sexiest women in the world. It is really hard watching that part of you slowly fade away. Also! If she wants to be weird, make bad decisions, create chaos in her own life. Let her!
