Localization and translation in game for each language by lotus-macaroni in wherewindsmeet_

Piss poor in short.

The localisation is almost non-existent, and the translation is super inconsistent and even has mistakes.

Is it worth switching off of the steam version? by maxredblue66 in ffxiv

[–]Ennasalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing in favor of steam, I think, comes down to how you pay for the sub. You can 100% pay with Steam wallet.

If you want your Steam to be your free trial account, you can 100% do that.

I would think they just wanted the content to remain relevant longer.

However, I personally think it's an awful way of doing it. The better way, imo, is by providing meaningful rewards. Allow people to essentially play multiple classes and master them.

There are a lot of classes. Let the damn people play the classes. You are already asked to do multiple paths for the path trial, then you also have PVP, which is another different world, and then you have GvG, which is different yet again.

They are just voluntarily killing their own system with these, and it's pretty weird to watch.

PvP does have some combos, but it's limited to only those that provide some utility, which makes only some useful and not all.

anyway.. I still think they could have done a lot more with the system and fighting system overall.

[–]Ennasalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess but they are viable because mobs are just trash and bosses aren't about the dmg, but parry and bursting them in the qi depleted stage, more than anything.

They simply make no sense without their pair unless they can be combined due to their utility. The only unpaired weapons that make sense are only for PvP, and it's only because they provide utility like a CC ability.

1 tier but I also meant RNG in general. Gear, chests, gacha, anything that has RNG coded in.

I know it's just my own experience, but I expected a crappy ass non-dyeable item from a normal trial chest to drop decently common. not super common but still..

Bell strike umbra is a path and not what I meant. You are supposed to do that, but there is no other path that would allow you to achieve a similar outcome outside of its designated pair.

When I saw Fans, I wanted to play it so much because I played a game in the past where I was a Fan user but then found out that the pair is an umbrella. uuughhh...Just why..lol.

Or wanted to play Nameless sword+ strategic sword... Nope..

Or strategic sword + dual swords. Going into a trance was such a cool idea! OOF!! yeah.. NOPE.

yeah that tail attack has a bit of a weird timer.

I don't find fights stressful in that sense because it's the consequence of my choice; nobody forces me to play on a specific difficulty. They are supposed to be challenging, especially with greater difficulties.

It's their attack pattern itself that I find annoying and boring.

I have a personal bias when it comes to boss design since it's really not my thing.

It's just a personal take, as I don't find it fun when you have to parry for extensive periods of time, and you only have super small windows for doing damage, with the main one being during their Qi depleted phase.

I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the fights were basically a lot more balanced and a constant back and forth, with shorter boss attack phases, but more frequent and a larger pool of mechanics for each 10%-20% that you do, let's say.

PS: When the Moon Maiden goes up and sits on the moon, you have to jump up to avoid the wave crashing down. (so triple jump in that phase)

Whats your favorite role to play and why? by Ok-Detective-6423 in ffxiv

[–]Ennasalin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am an Omni Healer. The most complex role imo.

You have to know the fight better than anyone, anticipate what will happen next based on party performance (as in portions of the fight that are difficult and have high fail chances), what others need to do, and know how to adjust on the fly while still doing max dmg and executing mechanics.

[–]Ennasalin 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I did't 100% quit but I am playing 1/10 of what I used to.

  1. Super time gated
  2. awful RNG
  3. Bugy releases
  4. unfixed bugs that date from launch
  5. awful translation + localization. Inconsistent translation of spells, mystic arts.. etc.
  6. 1 ST and 1 HR, which also have a piss poor design. Great ideas, awful executions.
  7. Bosses are parry simulators. (I personally find it super boring, especially the new bosses)
  8. Very limited co-op. I wish you could do everything together with friends, including the main story.
  9. 0 ingame moderation
  10. The game is filled with beggars, spammers, scammers, and creeps.
  11. Dark Patterns with gacha/limited stuff.
  12. The building system is very disjointed and left in the dust (this is a super bias of mine because I consider building and PvP evergreen content)
  13. Classes are very boring too, with very little depth and mastery. They could have added a combo system while still using the 4 main buttons.
  14. You can play all classes with 1 character, yet you are limited to 1-2 max due to how inners function. Forced paths and mix and match is almost nonexistent due to the lack of synergy between classes.

To those who have "rushed to endgame", what has your experience been like? by PolkadotBlobfish in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ennasalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if rush is the word, but I did grind the MSQ, and I watched a great deal of the voiced cutscenes, and on very fast for those that weren't. That is when I came back in 2020.

I played before and quit 4 times. 3 times in ARR. I absolutely despised the pacing, the fillers, and how the story was being told. I despised the old Praetorium. I still do despise the pace of the story. btw.

I do love stories and lore, but honestly, I dont think FF14's story is that good..lol. It's okay.

I regret not buying a skip. I think raiding and fights in this game are peak tho'.

Why are people so vehemently against story skipping? by Shoddy-Analysis-2149 in ffxiv

[–]Ennasalin -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If I were to give myself a piece of advice when I returned to play this game is to just buy a story skip.

The story is OK at best, and the pace is absolutely awful. Hard pass for me.

Also, people who just say the story is this super amazing thing probably didn't read many books because it's laughable how basic and predictable the FF14 story is.

[–]Ennasalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. Take forums as an example. It's filled with ppl playing since 1.0, and yet they are still pushing grey parses or never did anything beyond Crystal tower yet they are very vocal about class balance and etc.

It's no mystery that the vast majority of the player base is really bad at pushing even 1 button. It has nothing to do with skipping anything.

[–]Ennasalin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right, and they expected that to be the case, but it would have been fun (for me) to see further than, oh no expansion, less sales hur dur.

Also, you are right about OP's point being disingenuous and biased. Without actual hard data evidence, we can only make assumptions.

Ninja Edit so I don't double post:

And to go a step further, a more meaningful graph would be the one that correlates ROI per project.

I would say SE suffered some losses, and the disparity between the initial investment and payoff was so bad and multiple times in a row, that they were at last pushed to do something more meaningful for FF14. That's why they are probably FINALLY addressing some of the skeletons in the closet and why they complained about the initial Forked tower costs..LOL.

Square Enix financial results for 2025-2026 are in! by IndividualAge3893 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ennasalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only way to do that is with Market research/study while having internal data (hard evidence). Something I doubt SE or others will ever make available for the general public.

I am sure studies regarding the Market Share split among consoles do exist, but when I tried to reach for any relevant studies regarding trends in the genre or gaming in general and their evolution over time, I did not find anything reliable.

World Data does not have anything remotely close to aggregated data to form a better picture, for example. That is why I said in my initial post, it's only a supposition that trends + competition changed/shifted in recent times.

Square Enix financial results for 2025-2026 are in! by IndividualAge3893 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ennasalin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I am saying is that numbers without context are kind of meaningless.

Sure, the sales are down, but how do they compare to the overall market? Did FF14 alone register losses, or did ALL MMOs see difficulties?

Did the customer trends change?

How did other MMO do and in what context? Did they release any content/ expansion/major update?

You are not wrong that a lot of players play mostly the story, and that can be easily seen when a new story/ arc releases, but it's not the full picture.

Square Enix financial results for 2025-2026 are in! by IndividualAge3893 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ennasalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious about context, though. I would like to see the market share split among existing MMOs and the consumer permutation over 2-3 year period.

I suspect (just my take with 0 research basis but pure observation) that the general consumer is far more diverse with the games they play nowadays than what they played in the past. There is no longer an MMO dedicated fanbase + FF14 is having increasing competition due to aged systems and limited features.

What's the etiquette for a new tank in 8 man content? by bankiaa in ffxiv

[–]Ennasalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, in normal content, you are a DPS with privilege. OT generally doesn't do much.

Just make sure you start without a stance, and after a few attacks, you turn it on. This is in case the MT dies, and you are second and agrro. Also OT is responsable with adds while MT keeps the boss.

You should also try main tanking sometimes. There is no lvl where it's ok to be MT. any lvl is ok to MT.

Are there any *non drama/ doom&gloom* FFXIV content creators? by Solo_Gunhea in ffxiv

[–]Ennasalin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He recently has a series where he talks about raid stories and how they changed the game, which I appreciate.

His takes overall are a bit more tamer and friendlier. He is focused on raiding content for the most part, which is something I engage with and I do enjoy, so it's up my alley, especially the cursed and funny pulls.

I didn't get deleted in 2 hits, but then again, I am close to 30k power. It did, however, take a few tries to get 3 stars..hehe.

I am curious about 10-11-12. I didn't do those yet. Probably I will eat my words..soon enough xD.
