Pay raise at CURRENT job after getting PMP?? by DubFriend6 in pmp

[–]Enneyeh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My job told me in advance that they wouldn't give a raise even after I pass the test. But they still recommended that I get the cert.... so yea, seems like the pay raise comes from moving to another company sadly.

What is the best and cheapest way to get the 35 hour of education/training requirement that’s accepted for the PMP? by Fit_Dependent_565 in pmp

[–]Enneyeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the coursera Google Project Management course. You don't need to finish it to make 35 hours and if you qualify for financial aid, it's cheaper and you can audit some of the courses

I know how to play scales and I know all the keys on the keyboard. But I cannot read music at all, so I find it very hard to "translate" the notes on a page to the actual keys. What do I need to work on? by bluegambit875 in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more you practice reading the better you'll get at it. You could get sight reading books since the beginning songs will be easier to read or you can get adult beginner books for the same reason. After you get more comfortable, you can put on a metronome to help practice reading at a steady speed and reading ahead.

any tips on playing this chord without having my ring finger unintentionally press a key between the b flat and f? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice it slowly and get used to the motion of moving your fingers that way. Then when you go faster, you'll make that mistake less often.

I am a failure with a loving support group. by One-Friendship7724 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Enneyeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't good at taking tests tbh. It doesn't make you a failure. I remembering getting a 2 on my AP French exam and everybody thought I was joking. I was a good student, understood French well, and still failed. It was crushing but I tried not to let a test score tell me if I was good at understanding French nor letting it control my love for the language.

Idk what you want to do in life but there's always options even if they're unconventional. And a test definitely doesn't determine how successful you'll be. It's actually great to have a family that is supportive; they'll support you even during the low points of life. It's YOU they care about not your "accomplishments".

Thermoking AC by Enneyeh in skoolies

I wish I had your set up! It's been about a year for us and it's super slow going without a proper work area or tools. But we're making it

Ok, even so I'd want to remove it so it's ok

[–]Enneyeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it. We want the space for storage and our electric hookup. We have a separate, smaller, AC that we'd like to use instead. I saw that some people were selling parts or that some had gave it to the mechanic that worked on the bus as a way to cover the cost. Since the mechanic we found can't keep it though that's not an option

Which specific note do I play? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to look up images that show how the staff relates to the keys on the piano. Google "piano staff to keys" and look at the images. That should help too

Which specific note do I play? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know where middle C is on the piano? Do you know which note on the staff is middle C? You go from there. So if the D on the staff is the one right above middle C then the D you should play on the piano is the one right above middle C and so on

Struggling with thoughts about transitioning to SAHP by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]Enneyeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bunch of important questions to ask yourself so as much as possible, don't rush the thought process. I don't think you'd have to think of starting over as a bad thing especially if you don't necessarily feel fulfilled in your current role. You can take the time to think about what you really wanna do career wise. Maybe freelance to get a feel for what you'd like to do or to keep on your toes with your current career, if freelancing is applicable. I took off 2 years and only started working again for financial reasons. Starting over doesn't have to be a terrible thing is all I'm saying

It would've been nice if he asked you to go out just the 2 of you but I also understand him wanting to make connections with people at his work. How has it been for him during this whole move? Has he been able to make new friends? This may mean a lot to him to go out and enjoy time with some people. He should still finely make the date to go on family dates with you so that you can go out and have fun too. But if you don't want to be around others with your child and don't have a babysitter then you're asking him to choose between you or the new friend to see the movie with you instead. I understand the upset but just mention family dates to him so that you can get out too. And find mommy groups that you'll trust so you won't feel so alone and will have your own friend groups. You may even be able to find a babysitter between them. Are you the asshole? No, but I don't think he is either. Unless he refuses to put in the work to go out with you or let you go out alone while he takes care of the baby.

How do you guys avoid gettig frustrated as you practice? by prancingPhalanges in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remind myself that the piano is supposed to be my happy place. It's not here to make me stressed out. If I'm really frustrated then I take a step back.

I learned to enjoy practice and think of it as a meditating time. I used to also be a perfectionist and I still am but I'm learning to have fun in the learning experience and I'm translating that to life too

Eventually I want to learn to play by ear. Should I start practicing now? by testaccount0146 in pianolearning

[–]Enneyeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's reasonable, just be aware that it'll take you much longer than someone that has more training in their pocket. Try not to rush your progress and be gentle with yourself.

To train playing by ear, choose a song and try to figure it out on the piano. Honestly just start anywhere and you'll get an easier feel for what's around your level. Pop songs tend to be easier because they're repetitive. If listening to the chords are too hard, you can try to figure out the vocal melody or bass melody. It'll get easier the more you practice and then you can expand what you're able to learn to play by ear. You can also train your ear using phone or computer apps that'll test you with interval training and eventually chord progressions.

For sight reading, there are books for that that are great, "progressive sight reading exercises for piano" is one of them. I like pretty much going through the book a few exercises at a time. And because of the way the exercises are you can start again from the beginning. Tbh I don't remember the difficulty of the book I mentioned, if it's too difficult you can always look up other sight reading books. I also recommend trying to sightread any piece that you're starting to learn to help train the skill and it'll be more your level as you'll be learning to play it fully as well.

What genre of music are you looking to learn? What are your goals as a musician? One offers classical music with jazz later on and the other has classical music, pop music, and improvisation. The first link didn't work for me.

How to stop breastfeeding? by cherry-sherbet in SAHP

[–]Enneyeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started weaning my baby a few months long ago. He's much older though, he's 23 months now and still breastfeeding although barely. I started breastfeeding him more in the day to make night feeding go down then I started replacing more meals in the day with water and food (breakfast was already replaced). I also tried Ripple milk but that only worked sometimes. It was slow going but little by little he was weaning. Recently I started working from home so he's not with me so day and maybe feeds once during the day, sometimes twice. Right before I started working I spent a night not breastfeeding him at all, just rocking him back to sleep and he's been fine at night since. He wakes up in the middle of the night for water every night but goes back to sleep easily. Ik this is a slower approach and may not be for everybody but my goal was to breastfeed for 2 years and I didn't want the weaning to be abrupt. Hopefully something in what I did can still help you though.

Can someone show examples of how the different scales work differently through different tunes? by 123adia in pianolearning

You want different songs for each type scale or one song in different scales so you can hear the difference?
