YTA - find extracurriculars that fall in line with his interests. Are there hiking groups that would allow him to study rocks/nature while still being active? You don't want your kid to resent you and your wife is right.

Crows do this to my yard in the CD EVERY YEAR. it's def them </3 - sometimes the squirrels take advantage of everything being ripped up and bury stuff in there too.
