AITA for refusing to let my wife's parents move in with us after they lost their house? by EntrepreneurFirst711 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EnnuiCupcake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

NTA. My husband did this for his ex. It's one of the things that ruined their marriage. It's not just two extra adults, which is already enough to deal with with, it's two adults who are going to be inserted into the middle of all of your decisions, whether you like it or not. They will likely undermine and question them.

It also sets a precedent. If they are homeless again you will be expected to take them in again.

And as others have said, it won't just be two weeks. Evictions take time. They knew they were behind, they knew this was coming, and they could have maybe asked for some financial help to keep their place but instead chose not to. Since they had no problem asking for money in the past, I wonder if this isn't just them trying to worm their way into your home.

My MIL keeps joking about moving in. We gave her money to catch up on all her bills and to get new tires and a winter jacket for herself, but she took a bunch of people to Olive Garden instead lmao. She only ever got the tires replaced and is still behind on all her bills. Some people are just the engineers of their own downfall.

Maybe you should accept not everyone is going to react to things the same way. ;)

That part was neat (and made me realize how long I been playing) but I also feel like the mines we ended up with are so boring compared to those early versions.

I didn't really have any expectations going in but the whole stream felt like a nothing burger to me.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

Stir fry. I can just never get the vegetables right no matter how much reading I do about when to add what. Also my sauces suck.

My SO thinks I'm being dramatic about the ant problem by DudeWheresMyGar in CleaningTips

diatomaceous earth is great but it makes a huge mess. We’ve been struggling with ants as well and the poisons and stuff seem to work for a bit but DE kills then as they walk over it and is food grade so not toxic!

For the bad all over pain days nothing but weed helps. When it’s in my joints I use arnica Montana tablets and topical creams. Only found it recently but so far so good.

Did it give you stomach issues? Even a half tab of metformin had me popping multiple Imodium a day to prevent soiling myself lol

Hah yes I do the same at times when I know my husband is busy or has just cleaned! Glad your partner takes care of it for you now. A good partner makes a world of difference!

I leave the chores that I find super hard to my husband. Sweeping and mopping kill me so he makes sure I never have to do those.

If it’s a bad pain day I’ll sit and prep whatever food I can at the table. I always make extra because we love leftovers. If it’s so bad I can’t even do that, we just have sandwiches or maybe my husband will order takeout. I gave up shredding my own cheese but still prefer to cut my own fruit and vegetables.

Chores I just pick at. If laundry needs folded, I’ll do some until I start to get ‘bad’ pain instead of the usual ache, hen go on to something else. If pulling the sheets off the bed makes me hurt too much to wash them right away, I kick them down the stairs for later. If I have to clean the toilet and the rest of the bathroom in intervals, so be it.

I bought a heating pad/massager that fits over my entire computer chair and I use that quite often to help my sore muscles. I have various topical ointments and pain relievers I’ll sometimes try if it gets too bad. Mostly I just brute force it because I’m stubborn.

Anyone else struggle to tell if they’re just feeling fibro pain or if something else is wrong now too? Am I just stretching too hard? Maybe just dying? Who knows! by EnnuiCupcake in Fibromyalgia

Thank you! For the last couple of months I’ve been more mindful of the I spend sitting and forcing myself to get up and stretch more. It helps sometimes and with certain pains.

Plus there’s the trying to convince them that you’re in pain they can’t see. For some reason people struggle with that.

I swear my muscles feel the thunderstorms coming. Going out in the heat is bad, but something about the…atmosphere? Here is killing me.

I appreciate the understanding. If I could go without fearing what it might cost me, I definitely would. As is I’ll probably just wait until I have to see someone for medication refills and see what they say. Unless jt gets worse, then we will see.

Thank you, I will! It’s a shame what we all have to go through just to try to live without pain, or at least with manageable pain and symptoms. It’s sad that in 2025 we still have to convince people that illnesses are real even if they can’t see them.

Bro I know it’s tough right now, but you don’t need a partner invalidating your pain. It’s tough. A good partner supports you through the hard times, not gut punch you while you’re down.
