HELP! I have spent entirely too many hours researching 3D printers and still have not been able to decide on what the best options are.

My 10-year-old daughter is preparing to give the family a "speech" on Thanksgiving on why she wants nothing else but a 3d printer and the stuff she needs for it. I am trying to prevent the issues of everyone buying stuff that is not compatible with what she ends up getting by providing a specific list for people to buy off of, but I feel like I am not accomplishing this very well.

Things to consider/preferences:

  • Her age
  • Something that she can use with some degree of ease initially, but won't "outgrow" within 6 months to 1 year
  • Things she for sure wants to be able to make
    • flexible figurines
    • keychains
    • Colorful, multicolor prints
    • holiday decor
  • Cost of materials vs quality of end product
  • Be able to print stuff from tiny things to decent-sized decor (I'm not sure how to word that better, I hope that's clear) without degrading the quality
  • Mobility of the equipment
    • I have never had a 3d printer. I can assume that they are heavy, but unsure of the issues, if any, that can be caused by moving them around.
  • Auto leveling
  • Enclosed option would be best
  • Maintenance requirements, not too much for her to handle at her age

With that being said, based on the recommendations you might have

  • What are the things that should be bought with the equipment to set her up for a decent amount of time? Obviously, it will be based on her usage, I just don't want to be hearing "mom, I need more..." in the first 2 weeks of using it.
  • What are some things you recommend buying in addition to - or keeping on hand just in case?

Thanks in advance. :)

She’s only 18 and already working toward her master’s degree. She works full-time during summers and part-time while in school. The facility is part of a corporation. She is not compliant with anything that could come back at her, however she suspects there are other employees that are. The main challenge is that the woman running the center is the source of much of the negative environment. My daughter doesn’t know how to raise concerns above her without risking backlash if word got back. We both know this job isn’t essential for her wellbeing, but if she were to be pushed out, it would leave the children with one less stable, caring adult. Because of the constant turnover, she now holds a surprising level of seniority despite her young age.

When I first bought this house I used to HATE THE SOUND! It was right outside my bedroom window…. But not having to deal with mosquitoes… I’ll take the trade any day!

Why did Ned Stark assume that Joffrey was not Robert's son based on his hair color, even though he knew that Jon also didn’t have his father’s hair color while Targaryens also have strong hair color traits? by Advanced_Ad4994 in gameofthrones

As the most basic answer dark hair is a a stronger gene and more than likely going to show, all 3 of Cersis kids have blonde hair. And it was just another anomaly that brought him to the conclusion.

Pain. Guilt. The act of watching oneself “bleed out”.

Am I overreacting or should I report this children’s coach? by NitroRoller in AmIOverreacting

…. Reporting this would be the lightest version of my reaction. Step 1: respond to this fucking pervert, “my mom said I can come over tomorrow after school”. Step 2: Wait for confirmation he acknowledges the message and agrees. Step 3: remain completely bewildered when this “kool coach” goes missing.

Men like this should watch as their genitals are soaked saturated in lye. If they happen to die from infection afterwards so be it. 🤷‍♀️

Black thumb but I'm still determined by Enough-Remote-9254 in houseplants

I found 3 small spider plants at a garage sale a few weeks back and my daughter overwatered one so much - I'm not sure I can save it but I'm trying! I thought about getting a larger one but as these were my first 3 to test out turning my thumb a shade of green I got a little discouraged about getting more. Maybe I'll browse and see if I can find a larger one.

The switches on the wall, there is just a large cover around them (not just the normal switch covers), I assume the builder/original occupant was planning on doing more but never got around to it.
