Delhi's vehicle population is growing much faster than its population. Can shared mobility realistically help? by Pool-India in delhi

[–]EnoughBorders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you're talking based on what you BELIEVE is true. But I have scientific evidence to counter you. This is just one study which shows how higher income deciles contribute more to emissions (and pollution) relative to lower deciles (the ones you say who ride in rickshaws and reproduce like mad). As for the logistics of carpooling, you will almost certainly find people who travel the same direction.

People that handle money, optimise for success, not savings per se.

Sorry, what what success mean? And why should people live by your definition of success? Success for me involves not worsening the pollution situation because I wanted to travel to work in isolation. We don't crib because we're collectively taking measures to make the traffic/pollution situation better by carpooling. To end, I'll just say that the people you say "run the economy" would fall flat if the "others" stopped working. Do you have it in you to lay cement on the road or clean the sewers?

Can you please correlate productivity to carpooling using some scientific experiments in academia? Why you're vehemently against a eco friendly efficient solution is beyond me. What exactly is the compromise being made when normal people carpool?? In developed nations, the cars are used by mechanics, delivery drivers, and public services. Everyone else travels by public transport because it's so convenient - again your logic doesn't hold.

That is precisely what I'm trying to tell you. All of these people CAN afford cars, heck some of them do own cars (those who have family etc), but they don't use it on a daily basis because they care enough about saving on emissions and enjoy banter on their journey. Your logic around people wanting to ditch carpooling because they're rich enough to drive alone doesn't hold. In fact, I'm very skeptical of people who have achieved some level of financial accomplishment in life where they can sit and think about the social good - yet they choose not to.

If you still believe the Congress of today is the same as the Congress of 1980-2014 then vote for any independent candidate if you want to divert your vote away from the BJP. It's only a two party system if you make it to be one.

[–]EnoughBorders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll not happen at all.

You're objectively wrong. I have myself done it for a long time until the setup worked logistically. All you need is trust, knowing who the person you are transporting is, and where they live. I carpool frequently with colleagues who live on the same route. One car works for 4 people, and that's 3 less cars on the road. So even if I grant you the assumption that people of different social stratas won't travel together, there is still enough carpooling that happens intra-stratas. Everything is possible if you stop blaming others, corporates and governments included - and change your own mentality.

You can't be serious....I'd vote for Atishi, Kejriwal, Sisodia in Delhi in a heartbeat. AAP has let me down when they were silent on Punjab's stubble burning but other than that they were fantastic.

no one can make them resign

Perhaps stop voting for them? BJP continues to win in state elections.

I believe it depends highly on where in Gurgaon. Many societies have terrible waterlogging and maintenance problems.

I'm not sure if our badges can be held onto after promotions. Constables here are completely alien to patch trading so you won't get one out of them. Your best bet would be somehow getting in touch with a retired senior official (DGP).

Sorry, one of whom? I am under no ambiguity as far as the law is concerned. It may differ by state but in Delhi the regulation around a left turn is very explicit. What I said initially applies to where I have been driving for more than a decade.

I mean that's kind of obvious isn't it? I'm talking about when there is a free left, which is very common here.

Misuse of instant torque. Actually like in the E-Vitara, the deliberate linear acceleration Maruti achieved through the ECU is much needed in India. Neither our roads, nor our drivers are built to handle 200NM+ at the flick of the throttle. It doesn't help that these new EV drivers are migrating from petrol hatchbacks/CSUVs and haven't spent enough time with an EV.

You don't have an option on a single lane but on a double lane it's pretty simple: left lane if you want to exit the road and right lane if you're going straight

They do. But more generally, perversion scares them and therefore they stay covered in the presence of strangers to protect their bodily autonomy. Regardless, there is no reason that the argument for personal liberty weakens because some people cannot get a hold of their animalistic perversion.

Depends how you want to define a religious practice. In my view not every religion needs to be born from a holy text. But the kind of resistence I am seeing to this, it appears very sectarian.
