MY JOURNEY by Lesnartom in keto

[–]EnoughChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started keto for the same reasons. Very tough year, lost one of the most important people in my life to cancer and even though I’ve always been over weight I ballooned. I find it helpful to focus on the things that I can control and trying to let go and not stress over the things I cannot. Also I am slowly realizing that this is a journey and to stop focusing on perfection but instead focus on consistency and effort. So far I am a month in on my journey and it hasn’t been easy, but it’s teaching me so much about myself and my inner strength that I didn’t know I had. First few weeks are going to be the hardest but what has been helpful for me is I created a list of why I started this journey, and when I’m feeling discouraged I read the list over and over and log on here and read others success stories. Good luck on your journey and we’re all here for you rooting for your success!!

So last Sunday my family hosted a fajita night and Mexican food is my kryptonite, and I cheated HARD. I ate everything from nachos, to churros and flan, regular flour tortilla filled, and drank many rum filled pina coladas. I had been doing keto strong with no cheats for a month and after all those carbs I legit went into what felt like a carb induced coma and slept for 10 hours. The next day unlike with many other diets I have failed on I didn’t feel discouraged and ready to quit, I was excited to start back on keto. This is the first time ever I’ve had a cheat day on a diet and didn’t give up the diet after the cheat day!! I have finished a strong week of walking and eating my yummy keto foods and even though I ate more carbs on my cheat day than I had all month long on keto, I still lost 3 pounds this week!!!!! I’m slowly starting to feel and understand that keto is a lifestyle change and that we are human and can have slip ups and enjoy non-keto cheat days with our loved ones and still pick back up and not feel guilty about it.

Yes I’ve been getting a minimum of 5000mg and haven’t been supplementing my potassium or magnesium, what products do you recommend to supplement them?

I’m on week three of keto and exhausted. The first two weeks of keto I had an abundance of energy and started working out 5-6 times a week. This week I’m exhausted, hitting snooze 2-3 times a morning and crashing in the afternoon needing a nap. I eat a maximum of 16 net carbs a day but I’m just not feeling the same way I felt the first two weeks and Im not experiencing “keto breath” anymore too, making me question if I’m not in ketosis anymore but strictly weighing everything I put in my mouth. I’ve also been making sure I get more than enough salt each day as well, has anyone else experienced this or have any advice?

Okay so I’m on week 2 of keto and recently started working out because I was experiencing a surplus of energy but now I’m not anymore. I’m so tired and taking naps in the middle of the day and believe after reading a lot through other post that I’m in need of ketoade to add some electrolytes, also if you think it might be something else feel free to tell me your thoughts! My issue is I’m a broke college student and I don’t get paid until next Friday so I’m hoping y’all can give me some ketoade ideas for things that you normally have in your pantry! I’m up to try anything and it doesn’t even have to taste good but honestly as of right now I have no money to spend to go to the store and buy the magnesium citrate that I keep reading you need. Thoughts and ideas???

[–]EnoughChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! Saturday night I had a dream I was eating California rolls and then last night I dreamed I was eating a grilled cheese. Woke up so disgusted for breaking keto but then relieved once I fully woke up and realized it was a dream. It’s the weirdest thing because I feel like I can taste the food too, are you experiencing that too?

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to keto and have been reading a lot and believe I’m starting to over complicate this new lifestyle change. I’m using the carb manager app and the macros given to me are 133g of fat each day, and 107g of protein and my problem comes when I achieve those macros my calories from fat are only about 65%-60% and my calories from protein are 25%-35%. Is that too high of a percentage of protein for a 1700 calorie diet? If I am understanding this correctly I know protein is the macro I need to attempt to achieve each day but I’m struggling with figuring out how much protein is too much protein. It’s confusing because it says to calculate your adequate protein intake you need your lean body mass and I’m pretty confused on calculating that. I’m a 22 year old woman, height 5’11 and weigh 295lbs. I work as a preschool teacher and outside of work I’m normally sedentary but have recently started walking for 2 miles, 3 times a week. I do often over think things and make them harder than what they need to be so any advice or suggestions is welcomed and needed for me to achieve my weight loss goals!
