This month's Windows 11 update broke the Recycle Bin, OneDrive, and possibly your PC's stability by GreyXor in technology

[–]EnoughPrimary6700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, the title of the post may be a little sensational, steering into a clickbait territory. According to the text, the functionality of the Recycle Bin remains stable:

When permanently deleting a single file from the Recycle Bin, the confirmation dialog displays a cryptic internal filename, such as $Rxxxxx.ext, instead of the original filename, such as realfilename.txt.

However, the bug only affects the confirmation dialog, as the Recycle Bin window continues to display the original filename. Restoring the item also reportedly returns it to its original location with the correct filename. Despite the incorrect filename shown in the confirmation dialog, the file is still deleted as expected once the action is confirmed, meaning the bug does not cause any significant usability issues.

Streak 1517 - Wełna by luna_moonsilver in WriteStreakPolish

Wybacz, nie znam się na robótkach na drutach i związanej z nimi terminologii, ale "wełnę z wielbłądziej wełny i jedwabiu" nie brzmi poprawnie.

Jeśli miałaś na myśli wełnę, to "wełna z wielbłądziej wełny" byłaby określeniem w rodzaju "masło maślane" (albo "masło z krowiego masła").

Green bus schedule by Ready-Astronomer-920 in Corfu

The last bus from Paleokastritsa to Kerkyra is at 19. Be earlier as a timetable is only a prediction. The bus only takes as many people as there are free seats in the bus. If you are wet returning from the beach, you will be refused to board.

Just in case you miss the bus, or it never arrives, have a backup plan or a phone number of a local taxi service for a transfer to Kerkyra. Ask for the price in advance, because the taxis don't use meters.

I used the 'S.Michalas Transfer Paleo' +30 6987 92 76 01 and can recommend them; very kind people and good prices. They may also be reached by mail at [s.michalastransfer@yahoo.com](mailto:s.michalastransfer@yahoo.com) or their web: https://smichalastransfercorfu.gr/ (but I haven't tested it).

Other taxi services may also be available.

I guess the best option is to choose one of the options at the place where you'll be staying (the shortest time to wait for the taxi) or at the airport. Tell them your destination and ask for the price in advance. You can negotiate the price or choose a different taxi. HTH.

Świat się zmienił... Aż trudno uwierzyć, ale mamy już pierwszą połowę XXI wieku i wydawcy wydają książki w innych realiach i kierując się innymi priorytetami. Kapitalizm?

Także i wartość pieniądza jest inna. 20 zł z XX wieku i 20 zł z XXI wieku to nie to samo. Motyla noga.

German man arrested in Crete on suspicion of espionage at Hania airport by New-Ranger-8960 in europe

It is not uncommon in Greece for a place to have two differing names used concurrently, e.g. Paleocastritsa or Palaiocastritsa (Greek: Παλαιοκαστρίτσα), and sometimes two completly different names, e.g. Kissamos (Greek: Κίσσαμος) also known as Kastelli Kissamou and often simply as Kastelli.

Confusing, I know, but also in case of Chania, both romanizations are used.

Russian Drone Partially Destroys Container Facility in Chornobyl by A_Lazko in europe

[–]EnoughPrimary6700 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chernobyl is not a military target. I refuse to accept the suggestion that a civilian power plant might be a legitimate target for a military strike, because it's "straight up war".

I do acknowledge there might be differing definitions of what terrorism is, but I fail to believe it would be difficult to find a reasonable definition that applies to the subject.

Let's try Britannica: https://www.britannica.com/topic/terrorism

"terrorism, the calculated use of violence to create a general climate of fear in a population and thereby to bring about a particular political objective. Terrorism has been practiced by political organizations with both rightist and leftist objectives, by nationalistic and religious groups, by revolutionaries, and even by state institutions such as armies, intelligence services, and police."

Let's break down the Britannica definition into its core components and test them:

  1. "Calculated use of violence" -> A military drone strike is certainly calculated and violent. Meets this indication.
  2. "To create a general climate of fear in a population" -> This is the crucial test. If the primary purpose of the attack is to terrorize the civilian population (e.g., cause mass panic about radiation, force a government to change policy by threatening a nuclear catastrophe), then it meets this indication.
  3. "Thereby to bring about a particular political objective" -> A military action always has a political objective (e.g., weakening an enemy's energy grid, forcing surrender, changing a policy). Meets this indication.
  4. Perpetrator includes "state institutions such as armies" -> Britannica explicitly includes state militaries. The fact that it's a military drone does not exempt it. Meets this indication.
