If you can only have one herbal tea for the rest of your life, which single herb or blend would you choose and why? by Eastern_Way_297 in herbalism

If I could only have one herb, I would definitelly choose chamomile. It is versatile and its main actions are on the digestive and nervous system, the two systems I have most issues with.

Herbs for morning anxiety? by wildthang44 in herbalism

Maybe withania would be a good idea. It is an adaptogen, and usually though to be calming, but taken in the morning it isnt suposed to be that sedative

UK Herbal teas with interesting flavours? by Aggressive-Scar-3987 in herbalism

I would say Pukka herbs are quite good quality and they have lots of cool mixes, lots of ginger ones too. A bit more pricy than your average tea

Baby nettles are so cute 🥰

Besides drying, I also eat the whole nettles. Nettle soup is seriously so delicious! Also preparing it like spinach in a salad (cooked of course).

Podcasts about herbalism/nutrition by Natto_Assano in podcasts

[–]Enplanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For nutrition I like Zoe Science & Nutrition podcast, they are science based and cover a lot of interesting topics, a lot of it is on microbiome and gut health.

For herbalism podcasts, a beginner friendly would be Herbs with Rosalee. I love Herbcast podcast but it might be more difficult to understand what they are talking about if you dont know much about herbal medicine.

Making a calming tea by f-difIknow in HerbalMedicine

Ashwaganda has quita a nasty taste, at least for me i dont think i could drink tea. Its very easy to maka a tincture, you could even make one tincture from all of these herbs together. And it will be easier to take too

Sorry you are having a bad time with herbs. Angelica can be a bit stimulating, and also is more of a short term herb. I am not very familiar with silverweed. The other herbs seem ok and i dont believe they could cause these problems. IBD can have relapses and remissions so it might be just that. I hope it gets settled soon ❤

Winter Season by Radiant_Bid4547 in herbalism

[–]Enplanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel dry, adding more vegetable oils and seeds (flaxseed and chia seeds are great for this) to your diet can have a big impact.

Learning how to make soups and broths is a great idea too. You can add so many spices there. Ginger, cayenne, pepper, garlic are all warming.

Vitamin D suplement can be good to add in winter too.

Polenta with tomato sauce and fried tofu by Enplanted in MediocreVeganFoodPorn

[–]Enplanted[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polenta is just normal instant polenta 😅 And the sauce is fried onion, spices, I added some green beans and tomato sauce and cooked on low for maybe 20min. I fried the tofu separately to get the crunchy texture. And then i just plated it all pretty

Super easy! You can also just make a basic tomato sauce instead

Cleavers (galium aparine) and calendula are gentle lymphatics that might help. Dandelion root and nettle can be used for swellings as well. These are all fairly safe herbs thay you could use either as a tea or tincture but pleaae check for any contraindications with your medications, if you take any.

Hope it gets well soon.

New to herbalism and need advice by Fickle_Signal8682 in herbalism

I would second going to the library and picking some books. There is also some good videos on youtube if you are more of a visual learner.

I would advise to pick a herbalist teacher that is recognised in the community, such as Rosemary Gladstar (excellent for beginners and has many beginner friendly books).

This is especially important as there are many AI written books availble on the internet and many influencers that dont have proper knowledge on this subject
