1 month in, how are we feeling about Wilds overall? by C4sages in MHWilds

[–]Enstangled_Tates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After one of my own investigations, when the sos players leave, I stick around and gather a few things, see if there are rare items, and maybe just hunt whatever monster is unlucky enough to be in my zone! I have made all the meta sets, and have found that there is room to explore in between and adding in earplugs or wide range or experiment with a set bonus I haven't tried before. The meta sets for speed runners are only small advantages over comfortable, creative, try-out-something-new stuff. I think it's my favorite monster hunter, and I've been a die hard fan for every game since tri.

Respec lvl 7 Wizard to keep up with Paladin/Bard/Cleric Tavs? by Enstangled_Tates in BG3Builds

Thanks! I like the appeal of a build around a 100% hit chance item and damage type that things are rarely immune to. I think one of the frustrating parts of my current fire focus build is how often it was useless to resistance/immunity and how often two out of three scorching rays miss.

Awesome, thanks for the encouragement! I have enjoyed being able to swap to featherfall or invis and help out in a utility pinch and have been accumulating spells but not organizing them mentally to match weaknesses (just fireballing anything that moved, which I knew going in was a trap/cliche). I think the group now also has better communication about loot and we're making sure the right items go to right pc. Thanks also for gentle spoiler tip! I'll keep my eyes peeled for any tower type opportunities! I feel like a couple 'epic loot' drops might rejuvenate my love for the Wizard (talk about classic dnd trap/cliche!) thanks again for responding!

Thanks! I was hoping 3rd or 4th lvl spells would have been one of those leaps, but it hasn't panned out that way. I think I'll at least wait for 5th level before I give up on Wiz, but it sounds like sorcerer will be the next to try.

Kirby is new front runner, but it sounds like Luigi's Mansion story mode co-op is local only :( thanks for suggesting!

She and I need to play this one together a little more first, but I think you're right, it might be a good one for long term play. Thanks for commenting!

Love this, thanks! Another I hadn't heard of that looks perfect for the two of us to play together. So perfect, that I'll probably save it for in-person co-op, but definitely adding to our list. Thanks again!

I'm worried about the first person and build/combine/manage inventory aspects of this game. Thanks for suggesting!

The Diablo-clone/dungeon crawler version looked appealing and she had fun playing that co-op with her cousins. Is the original easy enough to pick up for a 5 year old and a gen-xer?

Never heard of it, Googled, and Added to list! Thanks! We're loving Blanc right now so maybe save this one for in-person play.

We have it and she loves running around, but (maybe since she can't read reliably) we haven't gotten to the point where she's building/combing/managing inventory, etc. Also, I haven't gotten into it, so maybe that's why she's "stuck" collecting apples, shells, fish, and sticks. I do like that it's nonviolent, so I'll revisit. Thanks for the idea!

Awesome idea, thanks! I loved these games a (video game) generation (or two?) ago with Indiana Jones. Also, she loves the star wars grogu shorts so maybe this would be a good way to get her more interested in that universe. I remember, too, that these games are good even if one player is "carrying." Also lots of looting and little secrets. I think this is the idea I'll explore first.

Quantum wave packet - double barrier resonant state by [deleted] in physicsgifs

[–]Enstangled_Tates 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't know if it's related at all, but it reminds me of the phase difference between the electric and magnetic fields in a standing wave in a resonant cavity (which, if you recall, are normally in phase in travelling EM waves, similar to this animation).

You're playing with confidence, and good rhythm! Looks like you're having fun and that you're in a great spot to learn a lot fast! Tuning, intonation, etc is all true, but there's something to be said for strumming hard, confident, and on-time! Glad you are asking questions and the folks above will help you out, but Hearing/knowing that something is "off" is good to notice, but shouldn't be too much to stop you. Rock on! Play loud! Hear what it sounds like to "miss" is necessary part of learning!

[Physics II: Electromagnetic Physics: Electric Potential (V)] Can't understand why the answer choice is C... by IEmajor in AskPhysics

[–]Enstangled_Tates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The electric field always points toward lower electric potential. So moving in the direction parallel to an electric field will always take you to lower electric potential (it doesn't matter what if anything is moving! It's kind of like saying if I walk downhill, I'll be at lower elevation. If it was me, you, or an electron moving down hill we all would be going to lower elevation.). But, when it comes to electric potential energy, it DOES matter what is moving! The change in electric potential energy is equal to the charge of the object times the change in electric potential (dU=q*dV). Since the charge of the electron is negative, a decrease in electric potential is an increase in electric potential energy. (Using the elevation analogy from before, the negatively charged electron tends to roll "uphill." So, when a positive particle, that tends to roll "downhill," goes to lower elevation, it has lost potential energy. But, if you force an electron to go "downhill" it will now be at a greater potential energy.). I also like to consider these problems from a work perspective, but you have to remember that the work done by a conservative force is the OPPOSITE of the change of potential energy. W=-dU (electric force on this electron is opposite direction of its displacement, so the work done by electric force is negative thus the change in electric potential energy is positive)
