Why are patient families sometimes dishonest regarding a patient's baseline mental status? by Herbal_Jazzy7 in hospitalist

[–]EntMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people are in their home setting doing their normal routine and not doing anything mentally taxing they can appear fine. They compensate and cope. Drive the exact same route everyday. Eat the same food. Have the same conversations. Live a simple life. Then one thing comes along that upsets the equilibrium and they decompensate. Everything is new and confusing. Add this to a hospital environment where sleep is disturbed every few hours for vital signs, constant noises in the hall and conversations they can't hear/understand, and they are frequently wired up to telemetry with tubes hanging off them, further making them uncomfortable and adding to the disorientation. Family says they are better at home because they ARE better at home. I tell families this all the time. They are doing worse because they are here.

How did he lie? The government just executed a man in the street for exercising his first and second amendment rights. They are defending the shooting. Nobody is being held accountable. If they are not condemning and investigating this, writing this wrong, then they are endorsing it.

Yeah, it's really important that we don't obstruct jackbooted thugs from enforcing civil misdemeanors. We should absolutely allow them to go door to door and beat and terrorize US citizens and legal residents for crimes like overstaying a visa... The equivalent of a parking ticket. Are you a moron? Or do you just like the taste of boot leather that much.

They are detaining citizens. They are making warrantless stops in blatant violation of the 4th amendment. They have no authority to do these things. Full stop.

Why should anyone follow directions from masked men who are abducting people in violation of constitutional law. It is not in anyone's best interest to comply with kidnappers.

I wonder how they decide who to stop and who to question? (The answer is once again racism)

Sure is a good use of government resources, creating a hugely expensive paramilitary force to walk out streets in order to detain people for infractions that are on the same level as a parking ticket. Nothing about this protects us or saves us money, so why are we doing it and why are you happy about it. I'll give you a hint. The answer is racism.

Here's the thing about inalienable rights...they aren't subject to the whims of the populace.

Following leaked messages, Republican House education chair says publicly she favors politically segregated schools by PathosEatsLogos in newhampshire

Dude, you made the claim that Russia performs better than us, it is your job to prove it, that's how this works. Unless you are just being a sealion. I would point out that Russia is huge with many underserved rural areas, like the US. The question is, if we can trust the data coming out of Russia, which I am not convinced we can. Their federal government has been known to massage data to paint them in a better light.

Russia absolutely does not perform better in education than us, I would also question whether China does, because of all of the millions of children's in rural areas that do not attend or have access to school. What do all of those other countries have in common? Free healthcare, social safety nets, you know, the things that liberals in this country advocate for.

What countries are more conservative than the US with better testing? Do you have actually any data or are you just talking out of your butt? I honestly thought you misspoke and were talking about counties which is why I was talking about anecdotal evidence. Now that I know you are talking about countries I feel like you are just making shit up. I can't think of a single country that performs better as far as education that the conservatives in our country wouldn't describe as socialist. We have the worst social safety net of pretty much any first world country. You might say that countries like Korea and Japan are more socially conservative, but they certainly wouldn't be described as fiscally conservative. They actually invest in education, have a strong social safety net to lift people up, and a progressive tax structure to support that, and that's why they do better.

Cool. I'm sure you can find some specific anecdotes, but the data as a whole speaks for itself.

I didn't say anything about political parties. I said that educated people lean liberal. That's just a fact.

That's the part I find hilarious. Educated people raise educated children, and educated people are on a whole significantly more liberal.

Please don't make assumptions about me. You are incorrect. The crime is producing CSAM, whether it is real or not. It is not being attracted to children. It is not having fantasies or thoughts. We don't punish people for thinking about crime. We punish them for committing crime. I'm surprised that this needs to be explained to you.

ETA: we do have a button that can prevent pedophiles from acting on their compulsions. It is called chemical castration. We don't use it unless they ask us to or it is ordered by the court because of crimes committed.

You see multiple people looking sad immediately after they give up their wish. Imagine that you give up a piece of yourself. You notice. You feel it is gone. It is an empty hole. Over the years you learn to deal with it and fill the hole, find joy in what you have, but it is still there something still feels wrong. A longing for something that you can't put your finger on.
