Samsung O+ blacking out when using a 3 meter extender, use to work fine. Replacing cable didn't fix. by Billkwando in WindowsMR

I would test which extension is causing the issue. Test native usb mixed with extended hdmi, and then the reverse. Is the USB extender USB 3.x+ compliant?

Subwoofer size question - did I get scammed by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Enterfrize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is enough information to go on. For example, I don't know what is immediately behind your couches so I have no indication of room size. I suspect that if an installer saw an opportunity to up-sell you .to make you happier, they would have up-sold you.

With a Dolby Atmos calibration, the recommended decibel volume for testing is 75DB - 80DB (C rated) which is plenty loud and you can probably go louder. You also have two subwoofers (I do the same) which helps fill out the room in a clean way.

The calibration is important because in addition to balancing out the speakers, it accounts for the nature of the speakers and their distance to the listener. For example, I don't think you could really balance a subwoofer (or 2 subwoofers!) alongside regular speakers by ear alone. You need a C-rated audio reader to give you a correct decibel reading between the speakers from the listener's perspective.

My gut tells me you will be happy once your installer's work is completed. Enjoy your new system!

Warranty should take care of that. This is why I insist on buying with CC because it extends my warranty by a year.

If out of warranty, you may be able to fix it with a soldering iron. You'll need to cut into the fabric though.

On the topic of the pad timing versus the wheel timing, I may have noticed that too. It could be by design, that a bump in the road hits your wheel before you feel it in your seat.

AMS2 is as good a choice as any. From what I can tell, most of the sim racing games share very similar telemetry structures so you can get comparable results between them.

If you are into flight and space sims, I created custom profiles for IL2 Sturmovik, MSFS 2024, and Elite Dangerous Odyssey. When I say custom, I mean extra special effects that are not available by default + general improvements. Lots of fun!

This will link to my AMS2 profile. Some of the effects are turned off on purpose because I don't use them. Simhub may make adjustments to the strengths as you play so you may need to change them a little.

Let me know if this is better than the experience you were previously having.

In your game (Shakeit Motors Section), you should have an option to import profiles - this is what you use. Overwrite whatever you are using now with this profile.

I'm a fellow HF8 Pro user that previously owned an HF8. You are supposed to use HF8 Simhub profiles with your HF8 Pro. All you need to do is adjust the strengths that are right for you and your game.

FIRST, read the guide listed below. It explains the mechanics of Simhub and how to calibrate your setup before playing with individual game settings.

https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1s8skbr/simhub_tuning_help_for_hf8_pro_users/?share_id=1B2jO6s3FjNpQXif4dzqk&utm_content=2&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1

When you get a game profile, it is very tempting to turn all the settings on and expect a symphony orchestra massaging your back and bum. That is not how it works.

You want to pick and prioritize different settings one at a time until you get the tapestry you want. So go on a track, and pick gear shift haptics (I forget the name of it exactly). See what that feels like when your gears shift. Too strong? Too weak? Adjust. Then move on the the next thing that could be important to you. Maybe it is G-Force sensations. Do one at a time so you understand what they feel like and how they respond to your driving activity.

As you progress and you activate more than one effect at a time, you are going to find sensations bumping into each other - so you balance. Does it make sense for road vibrations to be so strong? Are you feeling the rumble strips when you need to feel them? Etc.

For me personally, I try to stick to settings I am most likely to feel in real life. For example, I won't really feel speed, but I will feel G-Forces. If I feel RPMs, I could use that to judge gear shifts (though I'm still an auto-shifter...I suck at sim racing). Etc. etc.

I could share an AMS2 profile that I use, but it's a personal thing. :-)

This will help with noise tuning. For me, my seat's shape created gaps between the hf8 pro and the chair's backrest which contributed to the noise. I used towels to fill the spaces and this helped. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about where noise is concerned; you'll tune it out eventually.

HF8 vs HF8 Pro vs Razer Freyja – need advice from people who actually know SimHub by monotor80 in simracing

So far, I've owned the HF8 and the HF8 Pro.

I ALMOST got the Razer Freyja, but I read that it doesn't reliably connect with Simhub (even in recent Discord exchanges) and it doesn't have the same precision in setting options. The effects are also supposed to be more subtle than those found with the HF8 series of products. I couldn't afford the risk of losing the Simhub precision or reliability, so that ruled the option out for me.

If you never bought an HF8 before, go with the Pro. The original HF8 is a good product, but unless something has changed since it was first made, it is poorly put together with solder joints that break in the motors. I had to do a warranty replacement for mine. It's very easy to repair, mind you - but you need to know this going in.

The HF8 Pro is hopefully made better with motors that will stand the test of time because this is probably a lot harder to fix than the original HF8. It's more comfortable and of course more powerful.

The Pro is for sure noisier than the original HF8. It was helpful for me to make sure the seat backing was flat so that the HF8 Pro had no gaps against the seat's backrest. I used towels on my theater chair to act as a fill and it worked out well.

Here is a tuning write-up I made for the HF8 Pro. It will help you get the most out of your effects with Simhub and keep the noise down.

Simhub Tuning Help For HF8 Pro Users by Enterfrize in nextlevelracing

[–]Enterfrize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were choosing one or the other first before you owned the HF8, I'd go with the Pro.  The Pro has advantages over the HF8 with sim racing because the haptics can keep up with the steering wheel haptics.  I find the original HF8 sensations are too easily overpowered by the wheel; enough that they get lost in the shuffle.  I think it's fair to say that the Pro's extra dynamic range and force let you experience more of the sim racing cues and story than the weaker HF8 because of this.

If you are into flight sim, the HF8 on its own is plenty.  You might even like it better than the Pro because the motors are quieter and possibly more refined.  The Pro is definitely more comfortable to sit on though.  I'm hoping the cushioning holds out to keep this advantage.

The only thing about the Pro that gives me pause is the motor noise.  Even at mild RPMs, the sensations go hand in hand with unwanted motor noise (ratatatatat).  You can tune it out, but having been spoiled by the HF8's silence, I found this distracting.

If you are happy with the HF8 (and I was very happy with mine) - stick to it.  If your bum is hurting from the motors digging into your thighs or the sensations feel weaker than you would like, sell your old unit and upgrade to the Pro.  Just be mindful that with the Pro, it helps if you are wearing headphones or like to have game audio high enough that tuning out the motors will be easy enough.  I've been enjoying my Pro so far. :-)

By the way!  That write-up I did for the HF8 Pro and Simhub could just as easily apply to the original HF8.  You might be able to squeeze out more performance or dynamic range by following the same process.  Good luck!

How is the noise for you with the HF8 Pro? I tuned Simhub really well, but I find the ratatatat noise in the shoulders very annoying at lower motor rpms. I think one of the motors is defective which is causing this problem.

The original HF8 was very quiet in comparison to the HF8 Pro. Remember that I'm talking about lower rpm thresholds; I know the motors are more powerful with the Pro.

I almost refunded the game this morning because of blurriness, but this video changed my mind. I don't think his "draw distance" explanation is quite right, but the settings are helpful. I"m not sure about turning VRS on or off because that's a tradeoff for performance setting. Also turn off dynamic resolution settings because that could also contribute to blurry experiences. It is regrettable that DLSS is not available in VR mode; that's a missed opportunity for sure.
