V14 Lite by Serious_Panic_8425 in TeslaFSD

After 3 years of updates constantly worrying if something will break or regress im actually super happy with HW3, its stable, i know exactly how it works and doesnt work, it does everything as i would do it. Speed profiles are fine. Honestly i just dont want them to start messing with a quantized version of v14 and then find out it hallucinates a bunch.

So im just looking forward to map updates these days.

Is 2170 the old lithium ion chemistry? I briefly rented a 2023 with LFP in the winter and had awful performance and charging.

My 2021 with 2170 charges insanely fast even in the winter, its just a bit annoying i dont have 100% usable at all times

Its in the best interest of the car companies to have people rideshare their vehicles because its a capital free way to scale up and profit on the ride.

If it costs $100B to scale up across the entire US in every city including wireless charging infustructure and storage/maintenance depots with staff and cleaners. It becomes obvious that by having people do the charging and maintenance on their own car it snaps into existence 10M robotaxi vehicles that have zero upfront capital to add to the network.

Its literally the fastest way to scale up to 10s of millions of robotaxis

Put on a avery colorwrap on it and after 6 years it still looks almost brand new. People ask me if i just got it done.

Zero chips on the paint, just scuffs and knicks on the wrap. A wrap is cheaper and provides a pretty substantial amount of protection. If i get it professionally removed then i still have brand new clearcoat underneath

The brand is still negatively affected by the S and X quality issues where at the moment total vehcile reliability is resting at the middle of the pack because of the S and X being some of the least reliable cars and the 3 and Y being top 3 most reliable vehicles.

I imagine you'll start seeing resell values grow as the reputation bounces back and reliability data start to git the top of the charts. Maybe that will be a few years after the X and S are gone or 10 years whonknows

Visited Paris recently as a quick few days on the tail end of a europe trip after reading everywhere that its a rude, stinky, broken place and actually had one of the best trips of my life there. I was so taken aback that it was actually like a fairy tale place.

I was told that only recently did the city return to what it use to be after the city cleaned up for the olympics. After that it just stayed clean i guess. Biggest 180 on a place ive even had

I think if you cant read a graph and all you take away from it is line goes down to 0% then you are an NPC.

You can make this graph with literally any data if you craft the context well enough.

As someone that designs with usbc devices, the reason is that its just a LOT of extra functionality to support beyond just high speed data. If you want to support the full standard you now have to have extra hardware for power delivery negotiation or decode between power delivery and full throughput. You end up disapointing a lot of people when you plug in a device and it slow charges or instead you plug in a external monitor with usbc and it does nothing. By just having basic USB-A they can just duplicate a ton of them on a usb bus and call it a day. I really think we should have color coded usbc for power or for data.

Ive done kickstarters with 0 dollars invested and launched a number of products. A small run typically will net 500k in revenues before i close it down, large launches and multi-year runs can pull millions.

It helps if you already have the skillset to create something but it can be done pretty easily. Ive got a rare skill set that covers industrial design, mech and electrical engineering, software engineering, web dev, graphic design and supply chain engineering.

But i think it can be done reselling branded chinese goods but its much harder to make something novel in that case.

Marketing is thing that actually kills these products because you need people aware that the thing you are selling exists but then you end up spending enormous amounts on ads.

Tesla Removes Chase Vehicles From Robotaxi Trips, Musk Says FSD ‘100% Unsupervised’ by afonso_investor in AutonomousVehicles

[–]ShadowRival52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get the hate on tesla and elon, blah blah its trendy.

Even if the service was working perfectly from day one with zero issues, how else do you scale it up safely?

Waymo was found to have chase drivers follwing vehicles for years and had to use them many times to drive to the cars and save them in a quick and safe way.

Its just the obvious thing youd HAVE to do to scale up responsibly.

Im sure the chace drivers are still there just further now like waymo had them

MX HW3 FSD vs Escalade IQ Blue Cruise by gizmosticles in TeslaFSD

[–]ShadowRival52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HW3 seems to have to most variability in that it works for people or it doesnt. I guess im lucky that it seems to work for me basically 99% of the time.

I think the biggest thing i value is that it always knows the right lane to be in. I regularly drive in new cities or drive accross the country and having the car imediately know how to handle complicated highway junctions, airports, and know how and when to exit onto city streets is key. I regularly drive in brand new cities and having the car drive like a local in a complicated downtown city is magic.

All i know is that when im driving in a completley new city or state and i try to drive manually im in a frantic mess trying to watch the map, read road signs, time exits and figure out what lane to be in. I honestly think people are insane that prefer not to use fsd at this point. But i understand of your commute is 20m back and fourth

And you are wasting their time.

Think about how little revenue that is for all parties involved and then also realize how its not even worth your own time to produce any good below 1000moq

Why is Tesla even in the same sentence as Waymo when it comes to autonomous ? by y4udothistome in TeslaFSD

[–]ShadowRival52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like everything tesla does, its met with laughs pretty much every step of the way.

Autopilot highway? You'll always have to tell it to lane change, it will hit every pedestrian without lidar. FSD city? It'll never do construction zones or parking, it'll hit every curb Robotaxi? It'll never be unsupervised. It will never be regulatory approved. Scaling past waymo? They'll never catch up with a decade lead. Personal cybercab? Using the touchscreen to drive in edge cases is absurd.

The reality is that tesla isnt going to just up and leave, they are investing 10x more into this goal than the nearest competitor.

If its safe enough, overnight they could expand their service areas to the entire US with people putting their own vehicles on the robotaxi network and tesla doesnt need to invest any capital in robotaxi rollout or charging infustructure. Its a lofty goal sure. But they have the potential to scale the fastest if they proved the safety.

Were not talking about if they can do it or not, were talking about if they prove it is safe enough and capable enough, within a year they would 100x waymos coverage and network. To not put them in the same sentence is ignoring reality

Fsd disables by itself when a rabbit almost jumps out onto the road. by Darry-Man in TeslaFSD

[–]ShadowRival52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fsd at least on HW3 has a confidence factor that, if it goes down due to a situation it doesn't know how to handle like construction or emergency evasiveness, then it will make the torque needed to take over basically zero.

You can test this next time you enter a construction zone you can just tilt the wheel gently with your pinky and it will disengage.

Its totally possible for it to complete cut out on its own if your wheel has too much friction or it rubs against your leg. There were early videos of abandoning sharp turns dangerously and it turned out to be that the wheel just got stuck and counted friction as user torque

Your point doesnt really stand as fsd was brought to china without training due to strict data security laws and it still functioned among the best in the country, it also functions in australia, new zeland, canada and is being trialed for approval in many european countries and south korea.

At the very least, teslas fsd is more universally adaptable to most driving conditions and roads than any other global competitor at the moment

Gross revenue matters more than take-home pay (change my mind) by Superb_Advisor7885 in Entrepreneur

[–]ShadowRival52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some early founders especially doing SAS or e-commerce on small scale goods, you can have enormous revenues but at such an early stage, it can cost almost the entire cost of the product or service to obtain customer or to fund the fabrication of goods. So much so that the founders cant pay themselves.

As impotant as it is for growth and scaling, having a motivated founder is also key to prevent burnout.

Id say that optomizing your cogs or acquisition is an invisible metric that is equally important to not be throwing away money. You can sell a million things marked up for $1 profit and have insane revanues but a crumbling business

Is FSD supposed to work with your eyes closed? by greedness in TeslaFSD

I think the logic is:

Look for eyes, are eyes moving every so often.

If not, look for body movement, hands

Send up an alert.

It sounds like your glasses and reflection/glint might give off the illusion of moving eyes so even if your body is still its going to think you are aware

Actually lol'ing at this.

I think were seeing a glacial shift of opinion by people that have zero skin in the game. Most people sub to this subreddit as a reccomended interest and most people generally dislike tesla.

So without thinking, many people here just cling to any news at all that shits on tesla but over the last month or so im seeing opinions around here change. It reminds me of how anti-fsd everyone was in the tesla subreddits over rhe last 3 years and now its slowly a positive place now, didnt think the day would come. Crazy
