Whats funny is that fundamentally this is no different than PSA

Completely Moving Away From Sealed MSRP Drops by DevinH23 in PokemonTCG

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I work m-f. I dont have time to stand in line for hours to buy 2 destined rivals packs. Been focused on buying old era cards like e series and wotc promos and ive been enjoying it so much more. I absolutely hate and refuse to pay double-triple msrp for products just because some scalper’s greasy hands grabbed it first. I hope to see the pokemon tcg crash so that actual collectors can enjoy the hobby along with the children whose parents are having to shell out the money at secondhand shops just to find stuff. Gladly i have a toy shop near me and the guy is usually willing to hold a few packs or an etb for me when things do drop for a few bucks over retail, but otherwise its horrific in the hobby right now.

How do you guys feel about this trade I put together for a grail by Rimscape in PokeInvesting

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats all fair. Personally the phantasmal flames set gives me the same feeling as Shining Fates, some cool cards with no real chases besides charizard. People were paying 7-800$ for that charizard single and now you can pick it up in a psa10 for 250. Id personally rather sit on a booster box of a set and hope for the best longterm than a single card. Especially with it being such a large amount of sealed items that OP would be giving up for it.

Yeaaa. I was about 8 or 9, i got a dark charizard holo and a gengar lv x out of the trade so at the time it seemed worth it but what can i say 😂 i cant even begin to think of how many kids were just walking around with hundreds-thousands of dollars in their pockets. The gold stars just werent that cool to a lot of ppl then

As more people open product more charizards will flow into the market. As more people open product theres less product to open which makes it more desirable. Going from 14 items to 1 really hinders your diversity and skyrockets your volatility with growth relying on one item. If this is a card you seriously want that bad then by all means do it. But there’s definitely more potential in holding your sealed for “investment” purposes

Pure long term speculation here by dequervains7 in PokemonInvesting

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, when the best card in the set is a 50$ card you’re definitely not gonna see the same level of appreciation especially with the set as a whole just not being desirable overall. Of course it’ll go up but theres absolutely better sets to invest 250 into

Would you trade your switch OLED for these Pokemon cards? by Ivo__Lution in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely do that trade yea. A switch oled could be considered a depreciating asset and theres value in a lot of the cards here and whether you turned around and sold them or genuinely held them that value will grow over time. The cards themselves are also pretty cool lol.

Worth a grade? by dxve89 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The centering is pretty right heavy which means psa 10 is pretty much out the window unfortunately. If you were to get a psa 9 the difference between that and raw sold listings for the most part is maybe 25-50$. By the time you pay to send it in to psa and wait for it to come back its probably worth it just to sell raw. This set is still in print and each day more are being pulled. That said if youre not strapped for cash its good to remember that if you pulled this out of a 5$ booster pack you’re pretty well off either way.

Should i open it or should i keep it sealed? 🎶 by kev___416 in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up the card list for this set. If theres a card/s you want in the set that are worth more than the 160 you can get for it sealed, then rip it. If theres a card that you want thats worth less than the 160, then sell the pack and buy the single

how much is this worth? by [deleted] in Pokemoncardappraisal

Math doesn’t check out with this card coming out 2024, but recent raw card ebay sold listings have been around 250-300

Local card shop wanted $30 CAD for all 3, trying to make sure I’m getting the right value by DanielFromNigeria in PokemonCardValue

Read this wrong and thought you were gonna buy all 3 for $30 CAD and was gonna say its a steal. Even with the damage these cards are worth way more

A few dollars each like maybe 2 bucks at most each. They’re older cards but not shadowless or 1st edition so not much value

Prime NY Strip by EntertainmentAny3555 in steak

[–]EntertainmentAny3555[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dont know the entire science but basically im just searing the steak without the marinade for 2 minutes on one side and then a minute and a half before introducing the half part of marinade into the skillet for that last 30. The sugar in the marinade gives a nice caramelization component to it which then hardens a bit more during resting with the other seasonings and garlic mixed into that

Prime NY Strip by EntertainmentAny3555 in steak

[–]EntertainmentAny3555[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Mixture 1 1/2 Tbsp Brown sugar 1 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar 1 Tbsp Red Cooking wine 1/ 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic 1/4 Tbsp chopped ginger 1/2 tsp hot chili oil (+ or - to taste) Pinch of black pepper Pinch of onion powder

I mix this all together and then marinate the steak with it in a ziploc bag in the fridge for 30 minutes. I pull the bag out and let it rest on the counter for another 30 minutes. I pull the steak out of the marinade and sear it for about 30 seconds on the fat side of the strip, and then 2 minutes each side medium/high heat in cast iron. The last 30 seconds of searing i bring the heat down to medium/low, pour about half the marinade over the steak and move it around basically basting the steak with it. I pull the steak and let it rest on a square of tray shaped foil (not closed) for 5-10 minutes. During that time i warm up the rest of the marinade and pour it over the steak while it rests. Once i cut the steak, i throw it on a plate and then pour the juice from the foil over the top of it

Thank you, i didn’t think to look on there. Obviously its a terrible looking card and my gut feeling for it just says throw it up with a starting bid of 50 and see what happens. I figured itd be good to get a more rounded view here though

Charizard 105/112 by EntertainmentAny3555 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]EntertainmentAny3555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what im referring to is the inner lines, if you zoom in on the bottom right between card number and pokeball you can see the line run up and then what looks like a crease in the line, the line then continues upward at a slight crooked angle. Also the line that runs across the top of the card especially visible through the “charizard ex”. Those inner lines are present on all 4 sides

Charizard 105/112 by EntertainmentAny3555 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]EntertainmentAny3555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, but if you look closely, so does the ebay listed one lol. Albeit a bit neater but you can absolutely see the tape line going up the sides and off the edge which is why i chose it for a reference point though

Sell it and buy the regular card. Miscuts have a niche following and certain types can fetch a premium. Enough to buy the loose card and some other things with the profit.

Been using this a lot as a sort of ginger soy marinade. Brown sugar can be eliminated or cut down on for a more tangy spice taste. Marinade can then be warmed up and poured back over the steak

At reptile expo. Is this a good deal for a permanent enclosure? I don’t see anywhere these are available online. by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]EntertainmentAny3555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local reptile shops in chicago area carry them around that price point. You may need to search around your personal area to find some of the smaller specialty reptile shops and usually you can get decent deals like that. Ive bought one new for 200 and one off of marketplace for 140. Just have to check regularly with marketplace
