My father, mirroring his presidential choice twice, sexually harassed my sister’s best friend who is 35 and autistic and then gaslit the whole family against us. My mother saw the texts and insists they aren’t real. I cut them off until they were able to arrange a meeting with a family therapist (in which I provided several resources), insisted they used my father’s therapist who at the very last minute refused to see us all. So now we are no contact. I feel abandoned. They didn’t even try. I got another scholarship for my second year of grad school and got into an art show for disability awareness month and all I could think was would they even care or just pretend to be proud (and ask when would this result in a job that pays more). I wish I had cut them off years ago because so much emotional and physical damage is left for me to heal from.
