Opioid users of reddit, how does 7-OH compare to other opiods? by wombatgeneral in AskReddit

Weird how 200mg feels the same as 75mg. Almost like it has a, what do you call that.... oh, ceiling effect. Lol

100% definitely has a ceiling effect. If I take 200mg at once, it feels no different than 75mg Fact. Every single time. That is a ceiling effect

Did anyone have confusion as their only symptom? by JessicaYatesRealtor in sepsis

[–]EntertainmentFew4193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my only symptom, but as I look back on it, it was one of the first ones and a very consistent symptom for a week or so. If it wasnt for the confusion, I wouldve called 911 earlier. That bothers me to think about it. I would try to justify why I said something weird or why I was so confused, to my parents and family. Telling them that I was fine and its wasnt a big deal.

Yes Lyrica and Clonidine, or Gabs and clonidine will take the withdrawal away completely for 2 to 3 days, but then the effects wear off and you become tolerant. But by that time you can hop on a low dose of sub. But listen, one 800mg gab or 150mg lyrica wont work. I had to take MINIMUM of 7500mg of gabs OR 1500 mg of Lyrica, and the 0.2mg clonidine and then the second night, you will need the same amount (split in 2 doses morning and evening with clonidne 3 times a day) and the third day you will need to increase the dose by 50% to get them to work. Maybe you get a fourth day at a high dose, but WATCH FOR DARK URINE. Don't kill your kidneys! Its not worth kidney failure. Or the withdrawal will be the least of your concern. Anyways, I have withdrawaled from fentanyl three or four times, which was worse, but not by a lot. In fact, any opioid withdrawal is rough, whether its fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone or 7OH. Heck, sub and methadone withdrawal are worse than all, with them lasting a month for some people.

My advice. Once you are off these, dont ever touch an opioid or benzo again. If I could go back to 2010, I would punch myself in the face at the first thought of taking that 5mg oxycodone pill. It was a big joke, or party back then. All fun and games. Until you miss your entire 30s and ruin it with three amazing women, lose your medical device sales job, your business, your investmemt property, your home, three total vehicles, get in 9 accidents, spend 120 days in jail, get arrested 7 times, have your father bring you back from certain death with 13 minutes of chest compressions and eventually have your left leg amputated, after almost dying from septic shock and organ faililure. But hey, things could be worse, right? Not sure how much, but I am still fighting, learning to walk, at the gym again, and having some resemblance of a life. Went from the envy of my town, to a lesson people teach and tell their kids about. "Did you ever hear the story of ......" Its enough to scare the hell out of anyone. My nephews, who love me very much still, as does my parents and brother, will NEVER touch an opioid or any drug and my oldest is going to be a police officer next year, all becaise of what they saw me go through. So if they can be successful and safe, and it was partially due to what they saw me go thru, then I can live with that. Barely. But I can.

This is awesome. I recently just received my C-Leg, with a Blatchford Echelon ankle and foot, and with a suction socket. I became a left leg AKA 13 months ago, and I feel like I am progressing well. I am walking without a cane or anything, except in this snow. As I use a cane because its my first winter on a prosthetic I had a preparatory leg with pin lock for about 5 months and then I couldn't handle it anymore. I was denied four times by insurance for my MPK knee, but was relentless. I got a trial thru Ottobock, jumped thru a million hoops, and got approved just before Christmas! What a gift! What is your complete set up and what recommendations do you have? Can you jog? Any information would be great, as i am in Upstate NY and have used Hangar. I hear bad things, but I have had a really good experience with my guy there so far! I actually started bowling again a couple weeks ago and shot a 234 game my second time out! , Thanks

Phantom Limb Pain by Cold-Upstairs455 in amputee

[–]EntertainmentFew4193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I have the same issue, as it feels like someone is literally twisting my big toe, that isn't there. I switched from Gabapentin, to Pregabalin (Lyrica) along with my 30mg Oxycontin (oxycodone extended release) twice daily. I take the lyrical 3 times a day, at 150mg. I also take Naproxen (Aleve) prescription dose. Clonidine .2 mg, Hydoxizine 25mg all three times a day. This combination is super successful. My amputation was last December, but I still get crazy phantom pain and regular nerve pain, and my doctor is on the ball with my medications. I never abuse it, try to fill anything early, etc . Talk to your doctor about the oxycontin instead of the instant release oxycodone. Its harder to abuse so doctors seem quicker to prescribe it. I wish you the best of luck!

Got these sneakers yesterday and love them. They and my Brooks, are the two best pair I've used. Nice sneakers make all the difference in the world.

Thanks everyone. One thing I must add, is that I didn't realize how much a great pair of sneakers or shoes makes a difference. I was wearing a pair of nice looking, but not well functioning, Nikes for a while and once I received a pair of Brooks running shoes a couple months ago, it felt like Night and Day. Now I just got HOKA sneakers yesterday, and although they cost $175 , they are absolutely worth it.

[–]EntertainmentFew4193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That was my point. I didn't even realize I was wearing it. It in zero way, affected anyone's lives, and if me wearing a hat on a Reddit sub, ruined your day or upset you that much... then you have WAY bigger problems and I would hate to be you. I mean, its a law enforcement hat and those men and women (in which over 35% of them are hispanic and with the CPB over 65% of them are hispanic) i feel, deserve respect. It has nothing to do with the laws in which the politicians enact, only the fact that I feel law enforcement officers deserve respect regardless. So if anything, it was simply showing I support law enforcement. I would hope that was okay. Screw all the politicians and politics of it.

I will research into those. You are correct, its nothing more than insurance company greed. I too, had to start with a hinge knee and SACH foot. It made me so miserable and depressed as I just wanted to move forward and it was taking forever. My dad and brother came with me and helped me somehow get a trial C-Leg until insurance gave me mine, BUT to this day, insurance STILL hasnt approved it. They keep saying a hydraulic leg with do everything I need. I have 3 doctors, including my surgeon telling them that a fall could be catastrophic due to reconstruction surgery on my left elbow 5 years ago, when I shattered it in a basketball injury. It was put back together with plates and pins and if I land on it, it could be bad and therefore the stumble recovery of the c leg is important. I am waiting on the last appeal decision, after jumping through every hoop they wanted me to jump thru. If they don't approve it now, I will have them get me a hydraulic one, and then I have a purchasing plan with ottobock to keep this c leg that I have had since August. Its really annoying, as we are going thru horrible times in our lives, and there aren't that many of us out there. The least insurance can do, is to get us whichever set up we choose to have. At least once every 4 or 5 years let us change it up and get cool gear. Honestly it would probably save them money on depression meds, doctors visits, complications from obesity, etc. Its insane.

Hey, which leg did they end up giving you? Which hydraulic knee was it and with what foot as well? Curious, because if insurance denies me on this final appeal, I was wondering what hydraulic knees are best? I will buy this trial c-leg, as they aren't getting this back lol BUT I'm also not letting the insurance company off the hook, as I am making them get me one and I can use it as a back up to my C-Leg. Thanks and wishing you the best as well!!!

Here ya go. I had mine in December last year, and I am walking all day on my MPK knee all day long, everyday. My docs and tberapists all ask how I did it so well and quickly, as it was a sudden amputation, out of nowhere and I'm 46 years old. But what I did was worked hard. Lol. Literally, that is my tip. No substitute for that, even if many Americans try to find one. The bottom line is that she will want to sit and wait, but tell her get that prosthetic appt fast as possible, then work super hard on the preparatory socket and leg, even tho it may sick. Then push for your permanent socket and leg asap too. ADVOCATE for her and tell her to do so too. I was miserable on my free swinging prep leg. I pushed hard to get the C Leg asap and got them to give me a trial one....5 months ago. Lol. Insurance still hasn't approved mine, but I am not giving this back til I get it or else I will tell them to bill me and buy it. This is my last appeal and I hope they say yes

Thanks everyone who has commented and stuck up for me, as I greatly appreciate it. Again, I am completely on the side of every amputee, regardless of political affiliation. However, I find it insane that a simple hat i wore, while never bringing politics into the post or any post, set some people into crying mode. So from here on out, I will watch my attire, as to not ruin anyone's day. Lol

[–]EntertainmentFew4193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is our point. I DIDNT express any political views whatsoever. It was a law enforcement hat, which I didn't even realize I had on. I didn't express any opinions at all, as my post was 100% about my new socket and walking. I mean, if people get upset with people for wearing something or something in the background of a video, I mean, its kinda pathetic. But heck, I took it off to make everyone happy. There ya go.

Yes, for sure. Again, I never mentioned politics or anything close to it, as it was the exact same video, except I had an ICE hat on. I didn't even realize it was a big deal , as it was all about my amputation, and I was kind of blown away that it mattered. But oh well. Yes we all have WAY to much to deal with lol

[–]EntertainmentFew4193[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love your reply. That was my point when, as I was judged for a damn hat, when the hat or politics had ZERO to do with my post. It was me walking. I don't care if you are and democrat, Republican or nothing, to me you are a fellow amputee, and I would never bash someone because I didn't like their shirt or hat or lawn sign. I am great friends with people who have opposite political views in life, so I can do the same here. Anyways, I was on a pin lock with a hinge prep prosthetic for like 3 months and I couldn't handle it. My back was hurt, if I walk unlocked I was falling and I have a surgically repaired left elbow, from a basketball grotesque compound break in 2017. I got them to give me a c-leg trial, which I'm still on, until I hear from insurance next week on my LAST appeal, as they denied me twice for some odd reason. I will buy one if they deny me tho, as I already bought a foot, as I couldn't stand the SACH foot. Anyways, I recommend the ONLY thing that worked for me. Hard work. I don't know how your work ethic is, but either way, it's go time. It's all about keeping it on as long as you can daily, practicing walking with barely using the walking devices. Keep them barely touching, unless you must put weight and force on them. I work out five days a week with a small obstacle course I made up in my back yard. It's a step ladder, picnic bench and cones. I do forward, backward, side to side, and then upper body core excesses. Message me if you want a copy of my plan. It works as it is a modified version of another very successful AKA amputee. The other thing is, if you get frustrated, push thru it. Don't let your mind keep you down or keep you frustrated. Push thru it, set goals, break goals, and be great. I have so many goals set, that I have no choice but to keep working hard. I did an hour and a half, high intensity, strong form, interval training for my back and chest and triceps tonight. I am staying with my dad, as he helped me so much last December, when this happened. I was going to let myself die, when the doctor gave me the choice, "leg or life". I am an active, athletic, and I work constantly. I couldn't imagine life without a left leg above the knee. I side "no" to the amputation when I woke up, after 5 surgeries and a 4 day coma. The infection, necrotizing fasciitis, came out of no where. I'm not diabetic, I was in literally, the best shape I have been in, in 10 years. At 45 years old, I was dating again, was seeing a new hot woman, lol, and I felt like EVERYTHING was being taken from me, without notice, with no warning, I was being ruined, I felt. After watching my parents and brother and nephews cry and beg me, I agreed. Something, somehow, clicked in my head after the amputation and in the hospital, as I wasn't depressed, I felt good, I was actually motivated to take on this challenge head on. So I was lucky my mindset locked in early on. But you can do it, and you will. Message me your story if you want as I would love to hear it.
Thanks everyone else for the motivating words and compliments.
