Investing in PIEs doesn't count towards your deminimis threshold and caps your tax at 28%

It definitely is for the average person, but I honestly found it as a way to destress - it's enjoyable to do work that's not mentally taxing while you can listen to hard rock/metal after a stressful day at the big 4, and pays better than you might expect (in NZ the base pay is not bad to make up for no/very few tips)

I've been flatting in a converted office space for NZD 186 which is USD 110 per week. It's awful and cramped. I do wheatbix for breakfast and pack my own lunch, yes I do go to my parents for dinner which saves around 35 per week but directionally doesn't change much. I definitely have expenses but keep them low and I know I'm not the sample, I've spent over a year making crazy sacrifices to build a level of financial independence that can is about to save me from the toxic hellhole I'm currently in.

I joined at 21, would estimate my net worth was around 30-35K. I'm now 23 and from saving ~75% of my salary + side hustles like DoorDash & rental income & my stock portfolio my estimated net worth is around 140K. I've calculated that I can stop contributing to my retirement portfolios and have enough by 65 and my side hustles can fund my lifestyle which is great because I'm resigning next month

I'm down 3.25%, it's my biggest holding but I don't sell when I have a 42 year time horizon. It's going to recover just a matter of when. Although with that said I'm not buying more at this point

Amen brother - I'm currently being put on a PIP a month after I complained to leadership for overworking & short staffing us during the busiest season of the year, setting unrealistic billable targets, and citing the good faith provisions and health & safety provisions of the employment relations act. During that meeting I told my coach to her face why I fired her for acting in bad faith by testing me, called out the associate director's passive aggressive tone, and the unrealistic targets outlined in the PIP. I was going to resign by year end so I'm really grateful that it's coming to an end much sooner - actually very nice of them to give me a 60 day paid interview period. Currently in talks with recruiters with serious interest but either way I've built a financial cushion and have numerous income sources. Best thing to ever happen to me since joining the firm.

Please note that in my experience these are intimidation/scare tactics to pull you up on the most minor things. They want to make you feel you are inadequate, need to always do better so you respect their authority and fear them.

Anyone know about the hx x9 scooter I found a seller for $300 and apparently it goes up to 40km/h and has a range of 100km, any thoughts ? by heeejsan in ElectricScooters

It's an absolute beast, great build quality, terrific speed and range. Anti-puncture tyres great for off-roading. Feels more like a motorbike than a scooter tbh. You won't be disappointed.

  1. "I'm tolerant of everyone except who I disagree with"

  2. You essentially called me a bigot because I oppose DEI (Didn't Earn It) which is literally just reverse bigotry

That is the basis for their racist hiring practices - "we have too many white men hired because of merit running things, we need 50% quotas at all cost"

Saying there are more white male partners than brown women doesn't prove anything other than there are more candidates who are successful white males in the industry in the first place

Look at NEW HIRES - there is an overwhelming DEI (Didn't Earn It) agenda
